i cannot imagine myself pairing those wines or any other wine with cereals as you have done. it turns my stomache to even think about it. besides which those particular cereals cause more obesity in young children than a meal at a fast food joint. shame on you!!!.

AND you’ve just squandered a very nice Riesling and a very good Chard. Veuve is somethng of what I call a ‘Boob Brand’.

Would never have considered pairing the two. I will have to give it a shot.

QOTD: Lucky Charms was always my favorite with Sugar Pops a close second.

  • Definitely a crunchy guy. I pour the milk first, then add the cereal a little bit at a time.

  • On my part, you are forgiven for the interrupting. I commented about it in the Terlato interview Part 1, and I did it as subtle as I could. Bothered me more in part 1 than in part 2. Now to the business at hand, BEAUTIFUL SHOW! Boy, in HD, the colors are awesome. Last week I had a Spatlese Riesling. They are lovable wines. The pairing of Capt’n Crunch and Spatlese must be to die for. The last pairing, I’ll make it a point for it to be my first meal, come the 1st of January 2010. Very fun episode. QOTD: I eat a lot of cheerios.

This episode comes so well on the heels of the NY Times article about you; wine with cereal is SO not something the “real” critics would do. Question for you: do you always pair with the wet cereal? I feel the milk is playing a role in your pairing with the wine. Try the cereal dry and see if those same wines still do the trick. I’d be curious to know.

QOTD: Favorite sugary cereal is probably Lucky Charms. Favorite “healthy” cereal is probably Oatmeal Squares (of the brown sugar variety). I also enjoy Cinnamon Life every now and again. Although I firmly believe that sugary cereal is better as a snack than a morning meal.

Keep it real GV. I’ve been feeling like a lurker lately cuz I haven’t been watching regularly so I don’t comment regularly, which makes me uncomfortable. 😉

    Hey GV cool episode!
QOTD is good ole fashioned raisin bran. Growing up I loved all those sweet cereals like Cocoa Puffs and Apple Jacks because they sweetened the milk up nicely.

  • Stomach=grumbling. This episode is def one of your top 5. Iconic cereals meets iconic Vaynerchuk. Although I was left with a question – Would a different milk change these pairings? A whole vs. a skim?

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup cereal is my favorite. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is pretty high up there too and so is Capt. Morgan with Berries.

Great show. Interesting pairings; expanding both palate and mind. All around good stuff.

As for your interview style, is it perfect? Nope. Are you a news reporter? Nope. You are an enthusiastic person who hosts an enthusiastic show. Change that and your show becomes something that we, the watchers, do not come to see.

Gary! So Sorry I’m late to the party for this one. (I haven’t even watched the last two because I was out of town all weekend helping my buddy pour wine from his winery at the Bernalillo wine fest BTW we totally crushed it!)

That was one awesome show, I can’t believe you went so over the top to actually munch on cereal for like 20 seconds!! HAHA that’s great!

I’m totally going to try this now!

QOTD: I’m a Fruity Pebbles man, through and through.

Nice one! I have to say, I am very eager to try a CinnamonToastCrunch/Chardonay combo! It sounded delicious and I really feel like I could taste those flavors as you were describing them, yum.
QOTD: I’m gonna have to go with Kix.

Hi, Gary, This show is why you are popular. You are changing the wine world ONE BOWL OF CEREAL AT A TIME!

I think cereal with wine is a brunch play the same way you would drink a mimosa with a sweet roll, french toast, or pancakes for brunch. You are taking this one step further– good for you!

QOTD: My fav is the classic Cheerios, although Apple Cinnamon Cheerios also haunts me at times. As a kid I loved Cap’n Crunch with CRUNCHBERRIES. Maybe this would go with a nice fruity red.
