Wheaties,, lots of sugar, bulk tank mild, 40 degrees,,, it’s like eating whole wheat ice cream,,, yummy!!

I’m sorry, but I can’t watch this episode about wine and cereal, Gary. I know you needed to get this out of your system and it’s obvious many people enjoyed it, but I can’t handle it. I hate cereal.

    GV,

Great show. I think breakfast for dinner is the best. Next time I am in the mood I am going to try some pairings, maybe some whites with pancakes or waffles. I think a chardonnay with the maple syrup and butter might work well. I feel like the Lucky Charms could hold up to Riesling as well, or perhaps a rose.

QOTD – Lucky Charms “they’re magically delicious”

Great, another excuse for me to drink with breakfast.
In all seriousness, and I’m “going there” because you did, it saddens me to see you eat such “food”. Many ingredients in these products are poison (no nutritional value and significantly harmful). Those that are not are genetically modified and farmed with WAY too many chemicals, making them harmful to our environment. I hope you do not consume these cereals regularly. At least you pointed out with sarcasm that they are not healthy as they try to infer on the packages.

In response to those who continue to complain about your interview style:
I understand that your time is limited because you do not edit and I think your interviewing skills have increased drastically. You are not perfect, but who is in any sense? I appreciate that you acknowledge your potential for improvement and obviously continue to try to live up to it.

Thanks for another good show. I would have liked it if you tasted all of the wines before doing the pairings as I think there’s no way those cereals didn’t affect your palate.

    qotd: Ezekiel. It’s actually healthy.

Whoever originally decided to pour milk on cereal was a genius. That person Crushed It. Classic. Delicious. I often think about what a great discovery this was.

    QOTD: Honey Bunches of Oats

I got angry at Cap’n Crunch years ago for tearing up the roof of my mouth. I don’t think I’ve eaten any since the mid 1970’s. I like Cinnamon Toast Crunch but I don’t like how the Cin & Sugar gets all over my fingers when I grab it out of the box to munch. That’s where Mott’s cereal is great. Golden Grahams are great for munching right out of the box as well as with milk. As a kid I liked Cocoa Krispies after I gave up on Cap’n Crunch.

OMG, Gary V! You didn’t say anything about the variables! Sure, cereal and wine pairings are awesome, but what about what you pour on the cereal? 2-percent? 1? Skim milk? Whole milk? (Ew) What about soy milk or yogurt? Wouldn’t that change the pairing? What kind of milk did you use for the episode? What do you recommend? Come on man, I’m dying here. I’ve got to know.

QOTD: If granola is a cereal, I saw Quaker Oats brand granola.

A classic ep! Up there with 2 Buck Vaynerchuk (still the best ever). Cut Gretz or Berrett and add the Cereal ep to the Favorite Episodes column.

qotd: Captain Crunch; Sugar Frosted Flakes; Frosted Mini Chex; the list goes on and on.

Awesome show, Gary! I love cereal!

QOTD: It’s really hard to pick just one, but I guess if I had to…Cocoa Pebbles!

The 2007 Von Kesselstatt Spatlese Scharzhofberger Riesling is my No. 1 white wine pick for this year. While I don’t know, in the absolute sense, what a 95 point Wine Spectator white wine should be liked, this one is certainly better than all of the 93 point chardonnays and rieslings that Wine Spectator scored this year. So, relatively speaking, my palette agrees with Wine Spectator this time. I am very glad to see this wine back in stock at WL. I bought a case.

  • I had so much fun with this ep, as I used to eat cereal and drink beer with my old crew…it’s amazing how the sweetness is accentuated.

QOTD: It’s changed so often through the years, from Cocoa Puffs, to Honey Smacks, to Pops. I would have to say lifetime though, it’s a tie between Life (on the healthier side), and Golden Grahams for my sweeter tooth.

  • QOTD: Today, Cinnamon Chex. They’re like a “grown up” version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Interesting to see Gary actually excited about oakiness today!

Dunno if anyone remembers this cereal, but I loved King Vitamin. Haven’t seen it around in a long time. Also liked the original Trix (when it was still round) and Cap N Crunch.

Interesting episode, will have try this out.

I had to grab a bowl of Cheerios (the only cereal in my house right now) while watching this video.

My favorite has got to be Apple Jacks, however. Gotta have ’em soggy.

  • I can die now. Even at 23, my life is nearly complete after that episode. Two of my favorite things in this galaxy. Had you started on the LA Angels and/or Chet Baker, I might have pee’d myself.

    Thanks for the memories.

The Question: Was farming/vine pruning in Italy and on tour through Europe the past couple months, so haven’t gotten back into the swing of things as far as throwing down cereal on the regular (3.6 avg. bowls daily)… but I’ve been going to work on all kinds for the past 21 yrs and I gotta say, Kix takes the crown. Yeah, thats right… keepin’ it simple with that one…

What are you pourin’ now a’ days? 2%? TJ’s Soy? Dude fyi, Lactaid is legit. Try it.

  • I still couldn’t take this paring seriously, but it is tempting to try. Gary… you gota chew your food my man! Heh, I’ve never seen someone funnel cereal that fast.

Personally not too huge on cereals, but I do enjoy a bowl of Vector every now and then. If you’ve tried it, let me know which wine could possibly go with it.

    Awesome show Gary!

Nice to see you enjoying yourself like that. Too bad we don?t have those delicious cereals down here…

Talking about sports, as you might know Football (known in America as soccer) down here is the national sport and our team just defeated the longtime rival Argentina on their home grounds 3 x 1. With this result we qualified earlier for World Cup South Africa 2010!!

QOTD: The good old Tony the Tiger?s Frosted Flakes!
    Thanks a lot,
    Best wishes,

    Mauricio Fernandes.

Gary, I appreciate your apology for your interviewing “shortcomings,” as you called them. (My last name is pronounced “Berkeley,” by the way.)

Still, an interview is not a conversation, it’s a tool to bring out the interviewee’s (not the interviewer’s!) thoughts. Interviewing is a craft which can be learned, and if you want to bring more guests on to the show I strongly suggest you learn a bit of this craft. The Vayner Nation will benefit enormously — and so will you.

Smacks (still think of them as “Sugar Smacks,” not Honey Smacks); Frosted Flakes; the Captain is close, and I prefer the Crunchberries; also always liked the chocolately ones: Cocoa Krispies and CocoPuffs. How would a nice, dry red go with those? I’m going to have to try it!
