Smacks (still think of them as “Sugar Smacks,” not Honey Smacks); Frosted Flakes; the Captain is close, and I prefer the Crunchberries; also always liked the chocolately ones: Cocoa Krispies and CocoPuffs. How would a nice, dry red go with those? I’m going to have to try it!

  • Hey Gary

I know you’ve been talking about doing this show for ages, good work. Really interesting to see what you came up with. Would love to see a few more interesting food and wine pairing shows.

QOTD: Vitabrix with bannana and honey, apart from once a year when I have my annual box of Cocopops and relive all those childhood memories…

    Cheers

What fun! I LOVE quirky pairings, especially if it makes people things about possibilites and actually try something new.
QOTD: Now, Barbara’s Shredded Oats. As a kid I loved the Captain as well as Quisp, Cocoa Crispies, Rice Crispies, Wheaties and Raisin Bran.

My favorite cereal is Berry Berry Kix. I feel like it would go really well with wine, but I could use a suggestion!

    Hey,

I like every show so I’m not gonna tell you how much I liked this one again…

QOTD: Rice Chex, because I could eat my own body weight in Rice Chex and still want more — It’s the dry riesling of cereals…

P.S. Haven’t you seen that episode of Family Guy where Captain Crunch puts out a hit on Count Chocola because he said that his it (Capt. Crunch) cuts the roof of your mouth?

Interesting show. I have been intrigued with Cap’n Crunch since I found out that it was the cereal of choice of almost everyone in my French class last semester including the teacher. I’ve never tried it, but have toyed with the idea of purchasing it, but it’s $3.50 or something, and I don’t know anyone who would eat it if I didn’t like it. It has corn syrup – I often don’t like corn syrup in products. Anyway, now, I’m off carbs for awhile. And my cat died. It’s not been a good week for me. We did open our Magnificat last night and our Vet had a glass. This is the very bottle we obtained from the Thunder Cruise.

  • …why don’t you sniffy snif and spit the cereal? The wine is actually better for you than the cereal. Don’t put on weight, we don’t want a Dom DeLuise on us!
haha. I see the points about pairing, this was odd,but very helpful to really show the story of pairings. Good technical information,I liked it. I learned indirectly from the pairings.

QOTD: Honey Nut Cheerios. What pairs with that? Almond Sun Wine? I think so.

  • QOTD: Life. Has been for years. I have to be honest though, cereal and wine does sound ridiculous. The only reason I can buy your passion is that I have a thing for foods paired with apple juice. So you make me feel a little less weird. Thank you.

Great show, an instant classic GaryV. It sounds crazy, yet makes perfect sense. I’ll have to try. Does anyone remember a cereal from, probably back in the 1960’s of a Chinese guy, with I think a rick-shaw graphic? Cereal was kind of a sweet Rice-krispies? I loved that as a kid, guess it’s been discontinued for many years.

Lame. The “complexity” of wine is the greatest hoax of all time. Guava/papaya/pear/golden apple/Lipton tea bags? And of course, “peach fuzz action.” Does any one have any idea what peach fuzz smells/tastes like? I know what peach tastes like, but specifically the fuzz?

    BS.

    Hey Gary,
I’ve watched the show for about two years now and this is the first time I’ve left a comment. I have to say, I truely dig the show and this is the first time I’ve watched your show with a smile on my face from beginning to end. The pairing with the cereal is great! It has always been a pleasure to watch your show, I’m always wanting more.

QOTD: As for my favorite cereal it’s a toss up between Cinnamon Toast crunch or Quaker Oh’s.

    great show gary.

QOTD: i love all of those, i usually mix them up, though, to keep them fresh. like i’ll get froot loops, then next time, corn pops, then cap’n crunch, then cinnamon toast crunch, etc, then when i crave one again, like froot loops, i’ll get it again. but never the same one twice in a row.

Great twist on wine tasting and pairing. I have to admit I thought this was a joke but soon realized you were serious (I think 🙂 )

You didn’t mention how the milk may or may not have influenced the wine experience.

    Thanks for mixing it up!
