Gary, You’re a wack-a-doo!!! I love it! Although I think you forgot to mention what % your milk was. I don’t peg you as a homo (Homoganized) kind of guy.

QOTD: Vector , it’s robot fuel!!!

#737, remember Beautiful British Columbia!!! Don’t let me down.

  • LMNOPinot

PS- THe fat content in the milk would affect the pairings.

The bare cereal with wine sounds like it could work, but with the milk mixed in sounds a little funny. One day I will have to try this.

  • My ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE cereal is one we dont even have in canada any longer.

I believe it was called rice crispy treats, and it was essentially rice crispy squares cut up and turned into cereal. AMAZING.

Other than that, Vector and Oatmeal Crunch – Almond.

    BEST.EPISODE.EVER.

Only Gary could pull off a show like this.

I LOVE CEREAL! I swear I will be eating cereal everyday, even at 90 years old. I’m always a big fan of those 3 cereals but I have to say my favorite cereal of all time is Frankenberry.

  • Used to love Lucky Charms. Now I go for old fassioned oatmeal, but I add gold raisins and cinnamon.

Lovet he pairing. I use white wine in my scrambled eggs often. Delicious.!

  • Marshall

    Frosted Mini Wheats

  • I had to grab my kids Coco Puffs and try it with the Chime 2007 Pinot Noir I was drinking while watching this episode! It works well, brought out the cocoa hints of the cereal and elevated the berry nose of the wine, it also had this coconut flavor to it I couldn’t explain. What a great new perspective of wines and cereals!

QOTD- BooBerry brings back so many memories for me! I’ll have to try it with wine. ;-p

  • JOEYdaMUSH

By the way, you had exactly 30 seconds of silence while eating Cap’n Crunch.

What kind of milk do you put in cereal? Please tell me you’re not a skim milk wuss.

Gary, I must say that for as big of a fan of Captain Crunch as you are I am surprised that you do not call it by it’s name on the box…Cap’n Crunch. Love the creativity of the show today.

QOTD: Cap’n Crunchberries were always the tops for me but I do love me Lucky Charms too!

  • Good show–full of surprises, which is why I keep coming back. This show gives a whole different side of your palate, I think, because I never would have guessed you’d like all this sweet shite. I’m not a fan of the Cap’n, m’self. 🙂 Your last line is dead on, too. Cinnamon Toast Crunch IS better in memory, no doubt. As are Golden Grahams and Honey Nut Cheerios. QOTD: definitely Frosted Mini Wheats for me.

Thanks for the info on the Clicquot Demi-Sec. Sounds perfect for my wife, who loves those jelly fruits, if I can get it on sale. Next time you review bubbles, I’ve got to recommend L. Mawby vineyards from the Leelenau Peninsula in Michigan. Great, great stuff that runs against all Michigan wine stereotypes, all for reasonable prices.

QOTD: For some reason, my go-to cereal is Special K. never been a big fan of sugary cereals. But when I want sugary, I dive into a bowl of Cracklin’ Oat Bran. Got it one time as breakfast item on a cross-continental flight on American years ago and was hooked.

Hey, Gary, come down to South Louisiana and do a show in my newly remodeled kitchen, where i just built a temperature/humidity controlled cellar out of an unused closet. It’s stocked with Cali cults (hundred acre, o’shaughnessy, buccella, blankiet, etc.), several Aussies including top-flight Penfolds, some Mollydookers, and will soon have some ’05 bourdeaux and a Spanish priorat (Cellars Melissa, from the winemaker at Sea Smoke).

Sorry Gary but I couldn’t go through 5 minutes of this, same with when you do the college kids stuff. Wine is about passion(or so I thought) and think most wine makers are passionate, to put them in the same class as captain crunch cereal is really quite insulting. I regularly watch your shows and respect your palate and great nose, great energy, but come on! your last 2 part show great! do more of that stuff.!

    always a fan

Great episode! Loved it! It would’ve been cool to throw in a non-sweet cereal as well, though (Special K, Cheerios or Chex for instance). Congrats on the NYT article as well!

  • Instant classic!

QOTD: I don’t let myself buy the sugary stuff anymore, but back in college Fruity Pebbles and Lucky Charms where a mainstay. Now it’s Corn Chex and Honey Nut Cheerios.
