Lines of the day – ‘I am a legend. What you have to appreciate is I’m one of the greats’ and ‘I hate the package’

Phenomenal episode(s) and I agree with Karl (below) that these shows normally work best when the guests are able to match GV’s personality and knowledge. And Gary, you are 100% spot on, the label on that 2nd wine is a shocker.

As an aspiring winemaker, my favorite episodes are those with winemakers on them. Thank You for sharing your passion with us.

QOTD: The label sucks Nick, but now i am sure that bottle will stick out to me, and I’ll be sure to try it.

Really a fantastic set of episodes. Great guest and I actually had to laugh out loud a couple of times.

QOTD: It’s a nice design. I’ve never bought a bottle based on the label, but I always admire a well done label on its own merit.

  • Awesome show, my knowledge of wine and wine making pretty much tripled from these past two shows, plus I had a few laughs along the way 🙂

QOTD: No on the label. Silhouette is too small for the bottle and overpowered by the brush strokes. Keep the idea, just have a graphic designer draw it, I know a few available for hire 🙂

Awesome guest! Quite the clash of personality in the best of ways. Definitely an Intelligent gent and quite an enjoyable episode all around. Gary, I also liked how you pointed out the fact that there were snippets here and there that lent just a slight insight, like the tip of a glass, into his genius. Great episode overall.

QOTD: Call me a softy for saying it, but I think the label is great. It is exactly what a label should be, an artistic representation from the wine creators mind, instead of just some logo or brand set up to sell. Goes to show, you really can’t judge a bottle of wine until you taste it.

  • QOTD: I have to be honest and say it wouldn’t really grab me or lose me. To use the overused term, meh.

Outstanding two-parter. I greatly enjoyed hearing Nick’s story and the banter between the two of you was authentic and fun. I think the lesson is more guests that Gary can be Gary with.

    Great awesome show….love the banters….

    QOTD:

I think the label is simple and clean….it should represent what the winemaker feels and not the people….and it is something sentimental to Nick which is great…

QOTD: Yes. Sorry, Gary, but it doesn’t look cheap to me.

Great show, one of the all time best guests ever.
QOTD: I kinda got to side with GV here…the idea is very cool…execution ends up looking like a cheap ass wine. But hell , after that show I’ll still buy it!

  • I agree with everyone here, excellent two parter. I think Nick should be a regular guest, your chemistry together is like you’ve known eachother for 20 years.

qotd: Its not quite as bad as Gary said, but I still agree with him. Next time hire a pro, you’ll make your money back several times over. Its a great idea, but a designer could really bring it to life.

This is absolutely the best show yet. Amazing! Great guest and you just got to have him back on your show. I learned so much and I like the label – sorry. When are you going to sell these wines? I would buy some to try

QOTD: I definitely like the label.

Great shows! They were so good that it even led me to leave a comment for the first time in months. Still loving every minute of every show. Thanks GV.

Great shows and a guess that can stay with always worth watching. I would buy the second label wines for the cab. Rocket fuel wow! You can see how he tries to inform you about the wines and vinyards. Would also like to here more of his jokes.

QOTD; On a scale of 1 to 10 about a 5. Let face it, I am not drinking the label.

qotd: Hey, it’s actually not bad! I like the story, but the design elements are clever – the brush strokes look like finger streaks – in a classy/earthy way, yeah?

Wine sounds great…but the label I think does fall in quality. I would like to see it changed.

  • Ryan Riojas

Awesome guest. Has to be one of my all time favorites on the show.

QOTD: I dig the label, except there’s something missing, like maybe the figure needs to be maybe faded or something, you know like with a Sistine Chapel twist to it.

  • Gary,

This was the best episode of Wine Library I have seen. I have only watched about 15 or so, but the guest was great. He was knowledgeable and funny and the back and forth was great. I don’t drink or like wine at all, but I still watch the show. I like your style and energy and it is very interesting. Thanks a lot.

Ah! Supporting a habit. I love that! I hear ‘ya.

I can’t wait to try these wines. Great show, as usual. Loved Mr. Goldschmidt.

QOTD: Hmmmmm. Adequate label. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. Sounds like I might love the wines though, and that’s what is important. I will definitely be checking them out.

love the passion GV. so great to see you talking about what you love and why it’s great. BUT how about one ep that’s a “the hate show.” all the things you don’t like, the things that are wrong with the industry. show us the potholes on the path of wine knowledge.

SS Chris is busy calculating scores and scores of scores on wine that couldn’t shouldn’t wouldn’t otherwise be scored.

  • QOTD: Don’t like it artistically, but the idea of incorporating family is great.

Great idea for a label but pretty badly excuted.
Nick let a designer do it.

GREAT EPISODES! Nice interview – finally someone who interrupts as much as you do.

Nick seems like someone I’d like to share a bottle with. Not to say anything bad about your last guest, but Nick seemed a little more humble about his accomplishments. Its refreshing to see someone who is massively talented be so cool about it.

QOTD: The label wouldn’t make me reach for it first in the store, but it wouldn’t prevent me from trying it if I saw a good score either. (I know scores shouldn’t matter but…you have to start somewhere.)
