QOTD: Well I would only think of George Harrison as a Pino Noir from Germany from the days were Pino in Germany started. Quiet, subtle, under the radar but really great.

In regards to Igor’s response a little harsh I feel. The guy knows how to taste wine he just said that he has a long way to go to perfect it and a lot more wines to taste. Tasting and evaluating wine is not as easy as it looks you know. Lets keep it chilled on the comments shall we…

IGOR’S COMMENT – This guy needs to learn how to taste wine first, what a joke.

My reply – Igor, this episode was a frank and open discussion on the merits of investing in wine and how the market is fairing. It was NOT a chance for Adrian to show how he does something which he isnt proficient in. The guy is a investment advisor not a wine taster. He just encompasses wine tasting into his job so he can understand why people rate or dont rate a wine. I think you should take that into account before passing judgement.

QOTD – The Beatles as a whole should be a collection of Indian wines! Exotic and much misunderstood.

  • That’s an outstanding question and a really good interview to boot, highly informative. I’ve got to sit and think a bit on the Beatles question, very interesting.

    Thanks for great “show”

    All the best

    QOTD:
    Ringo: Funky Llama Malbec
    Paul: Left Bank Bordeaux
John: Single vineyard, premiere cru, Gevrey Chambertin
George: Not wine but something that may get rolled by hand

Usually I’m on Gary’s side on the whole interrupting too much thing, but at the beginning of this episode, there was far too much interrupting going on. Why ask a question if you’re not going to let him answer? However, as the show went on you both seemed to figure out each others’ conversation style and it got much smoother.

QOTD: Best QOTD ever! This guy has definitely been watching the show – he was prepared!
Paul: The most talented Beatle IMHO, just like Bordeaux for me.
John: The classic rebel – a stubborn genius, for me this is like a meritage, something I have been drinking a lot of lately because when you find the right one it has everything you will find in a bordeaux, but better!
George: Although 3rd in talent, the most innocent and pure. I put him as a Napa Cab.
Ringo: Although I love him, the guy was lucky to catch ahold of these guys’ coattails. I’d put him as an over-oaked australian shiraz. Vanilla, vanilla, and more vanilla.

Some great matchups with the Beatles and what wine would they be.

GV, could you do a show on some of the matchups in new world blends?

    I have a few things to say…

QOTD: Im only really into Lennon, i think he is a New Zealand Wine… but not something you’d expect from there, maybe a Pinot, easy going but with a good vibe and some power behind it, something you have to enjoy now… or maybe its gone tomorrow. And Great Question, wish i knew more about the other Beatles.

Q for Gary: You often say the wine is young and its not decanted or opened long. Why not when you have a special guest, or a special bottle, open it and decant, you often talk for 10-20 minutes, i would imagine that even this short amount of time would help open up some of the more solid wines you try?

J.E.T.S.JETSJETSJETS: Your Jets played fine today, and you worried? No 0-4 for you, now im very interested how my Saints play against your Jets in week 4.

Peace, hope your family is well.

Not really impressed by the guest today Garry, though the calibre has been extremly high in the last couple of episodes with living legends. A man with a company of Bordeaux futures with 5 years experience tasting and without the wine bug. I would not put my money in his hands. Though he did have a good QOTD.

I really enjoyed this episode. There are SOOOO many aspects of the wine world and tasting and being a critic (yes, Mr. JM, Gary is a critic and *wait for it*…a retailer too) reviewing wine is only one and I know there are many viewers out there that are stoked when you do rad episodes like this one.

    QOTD:

    Peter: Monterey Chardonnay
    Paul: German TBA
    Mary: Argentinian Chardonnay.

Very refreshing show. I’ve been investing in wine for 30 years, but I have the perpetual dilema of evaporation!!!

    AotD:
    Paul: Vodka.
    John: Bourbon.
    Ringo: Tequila.
    George: Scotch.

Great question, Adrian. Some different answers in my book, *hic*!

Look Gary I appreciate your show is off the cuff and “real” and I do enjoy what you are doing but please please please for heaven’s sake stop placing poducts and objects infront of your guests. Coming from a tv background I cannot stand to see how esthetically off-putting it is to watch a guest speak behind a giant wine glass. C’mon Mott do your job man, make the shots esthetically pleasing. It’s all we ask. thanks
