Watched too many shows since I found out about you last week. No, won’t count. First post. I love that you did Chateauneauf de pape. After discussing with a friend a couple years ago, that though I wanted to like French Reds, I had never really liked one. He said Chateauneauf de pape is a good first red. And he was right, one of the best wines I had ever had. Looking forward to getting an 07 bottle.

GAry… Can you let us know how long the wines have been open prior to the tasting? Seems to be such a big part of what you get out of a tasting and The difference between hour 1 and 3 can be huge… As an example I had the 07 brusquiers twice now .. the first time with 2 hour decant and it was brilliant… the second with less than an hour bottle decant and was disjointed and a little hot… I think that would help people get the most out there experience.

Gary another very good show. I have only had one Chateauneuf du Pape, and it was just Sunday. I also thought it was a big wine Le Cote Ronde. But it was an 06 and it was good but not great especially for $60 US. Looking forward to 07. Interested more about the cruise as we get closer to it.

I’m a big fan of the feminine back ends, if ya know what I mean. How’s the knee doing? Be good to yourself and work as hard as you can on rehab/getting it back in shape.

Oh yeah and the QOTD … Think the Pats win in a high scoring game … Brady beats the blitz with a couple of issolation reads for Welker/Moss… Belicheck confuses Sanchez a little bit but the Jets get better every week and finish 9-7 looking morelike the team that beat Houston on a regular basis… By the end of the year Jets are better than the Pats as their D sucks

Per my last comment… yes lots of 07 … Love em! best was my first bottle of Brusquieres Worst was still a 90 pointer… the Mt Olivet.

Nice Ep. Love the Rhone. Was just there in April and did do a quick (sadly) jaunt thru CDP. It was still too early for the ’07’s and they were pushing the ’06’s really hard. Although, I have had some ’07 Cote du Rhone’s and they were all showing well.

QOTD: I’m on the Sanchez boat and thought he had what it takes at So. Cal. to do something in the bigs. Still too early to tell, but, so far, so good. Jets – 20, Pats – 17.

We enjoyed the cruise so much the last year we are bringing at least one other couple, hopefully two more couples this year. The value is amazing. Haven’t had the 2007 Chateau Neuf de Papes yet but looking forward to tasting them in two weeks as they are a listed big part of the 2009 Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta including the first two wines.

Love CDP, although prices have gotten a bit out of control with all the Parker praise in the last 10 years. Used to be tremendous bargains.
Now you have to look to Cote-du-Rhone, Gigondas, Costiere de Nimes for the true bargains. 2007 should provide plenty of them.

QOTD2: Have not been able to try any ’07 CDP’s yet, both because of cost and because I’ve been trying CdR’s. We’ve had several vintages of the Perdrix in the past, and that usually tends to be a great value.

Didnt have a ch9 ’07 yet.. but got a handfull of cases coming in, côte du Rhones not even included, from various domaines. But I guess you already know more than enough when you taste the “basic” côte du Rhônes from the vintage… good to great from bottom to amazing and beyond at the top.

And yess.. Finally a ch9 ’07 show 😉
Might ask my local ch9 guy if he can fetch me a bottle of that brusquieres..

I have not slurped the 07s. I will try, I am sure there will be some to be had at Phillip’s Fine Wine wine tasting in Stockton, NJ October 3rd. Phillips does this event every year to raise cash for the local fire department. TIX are $60, its worth the trip, its right on the Delaware.

Jets will win in a defensive battle 14-10, with the defense taking one back on a fumble.

Hey GV. When you started going off on the blackness of the first wine, I couldn’t help but wonder – do you ever have a moment during your ramblings when in your head you’re saying “ok you can stop talking now” but you still keep going? I ask because I find myself doing that a lot; I’ll start going on a rant because I think in the end it will be funny, but really I could stop anytime and be just fine. Just wondering…

QOTD 1:27-21 Jets. You’re at home, you totally have the advantage. But honestly, I have no idea. I’m too preoccupied thinking about my Irish taking on Michigan State. You got a score prediction for me?
QOTD 2:I have not had the 2007. The last time I had a Chateauneuf Du Papes was last Thanksgiving with my family and I can’t remember the vintage. I do remember thinking it paired really well with the turkey.
