Great show. I like the focus. I have to say, I honestly have never had a Brunello and that is due to the high cost of the wines. I like to stay within the $35 dollar range when it comes to the higher end wines I will buy. When I do want to go a little higher, I usually head towards a Cali Cab or Bordeaux. Nice job GV.

    Top 20?

I can’t remember the name of the last Brunello we had but will definitely seek out the 2004’s.

  • How about an ’04 Brunello Cindarello Wine…? πŸ™‚

I make a good candied cranberry for one of our cocktail garnishes.

QOTD: Haven’t had one – want to try one so bad now!!! Thanks GV, lol.

Way to work the family in with your tasting notes-as smooth as Misha’s butt can probably write a book on it!!! Love the short and sweet! Hope your tour is going well!

  • I love the enthusiasm!!! I guess you like these wine huh Homey?

I was never a big brunello fan but I did have a few in my day way back when…and I could remember having it with a really great Italian dish. You see Homey, when you retire so young like I did your mind goes to mush. It gets soft….like Misha’s tush so I don’t really recall what it was about it I didn’t like or really didn’t grab me so I guess maybe it’s time to try some new ones now. Too bad I missed the super tasting…..but I had to be at the shore to take the Boat out and get the house ready for the winter. I’m really bummed about that.

Thanks….. I will definately pick up a few of these and or others and so a tasting myself one day at a good BYO Italian place….lol

QOTD: Guess my comment says it all

    Hello Gary,

I have the 2001 casanova di neri tenuta nuova in my cellar but only had it once, short after release. I did not impress me much a that time but I found out with an other wine that I have to give my brunello’s the time to open up. I had the 1999 la Magia brunello and untill 2006 it did not impress me neither but my last two bottles this year were just extaordinary. It just gained enormous complexity the last couple of years. I found a shop in Belgium selling the poggione brunello. I was allready thinking of buying some bottles, but no need to hesitate any longer.
    kind regards,

Is it my headphones or your video? What the fuck is that noise in the background. IT MAY BE THE MOST ANNOYING VIDEO OF ALL TIME.

  • Normally, I like the Frescobaldi the best and usually it is a good buy. I have had only one glass of 2004 Brunello and it was the Poggione. Really liked it and am looking forward to more.

Not sure what my favorite Brunello is, I’ve only had a couple of them. I’d love to see a Brunello show in the under 20 dollar price range, if possible, although I might seek out a couple of these higher end one.

Just got married this weekend, going to Sonoma/Napa at the end of the month for honeymoon part 2. Any suggestions for “off the beaten path” wineries to check out?

    Thanks.

  • Hey Gary,

I saw your interview on Changing Course, “Money has been neutralized by the connection of people through the new online world.”

I like that… No more excuses!
