The thing I was most anticipating was the movie “couples retreat” as I was expecting myself to have a good time laughing but was terribly disappointed by the flatness and boringness of it.

I like the tighter format..especially the length of time. It’s much easier to set aside 8 minutes than 23! But, mix it up.

I like the format whether it’s “wham-bam thank-you-ma’am” tastings in 8 minutes or a drawn out special that’s all over the map. Both work well for the show and changing up the pace is great.

QOTD: I was pumped to go the art museum today, because I’ve been trying to make the time to go since August. I got there only to find out they’re CLOSED on Mondays.

On the upside, I found my local franchise of Tastings (http://www.awineexperience.com/) when I was wandering the city streets, walked in and fell in love with the concept of the place. Tried three wines, plan to make it a part of my Monday routine and I may even have to go back before next week.

QOTD: Biggest hype, most disappointment in the last 60 days: I really thought “Paranormal Activity” would be the “scariest movie ever”… I’m something of a horror buff. While it was good, and I would recommend it for horror/thriller fans, I can name several off the top of my head that were scarier: The Exorcist, Poltergeist, Ju-On, Ringu, (even the last two’s American counterparts, The Grudge and The Ring), The Omen, and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

QOTD: I had the opportunity to taste a Brunello di Montalcino recently. It had a 90 point score by Wine Advocate. My palate gave it an 87. I expected more. I wish I could try it again in 10 years.

I tried a Meursault once and it was just OK, nothing spectacular.
I think these short format episodes are excellent.

QOTD: I thought the whole Google Wave campaign was overhyped.
