Couldn’t agree more about the horrible packaging on the Pehu. Unfortunately I’m not a P Diddy style baller so won’t be trying it

I bought a non vintange moet chandon brut rose to celebrate my engagement to my now wife. I cannot remember any tasting notes or anything like that but combined with that moment it was maybe the most delicious beverage i have ever had.

Best bubbly experience is the Schramsberg tasting tour. 6 full glasses of champagne as you walk through the caves (stumbling by the end of it). Highly recommended.

Great show as always since you and I adore the bubbles. And I must agree, the label on that Pehu is downright hideous. What were those French thinking? Wait, it’s obvious they weren’t.

QOTD: Favorite bubbles and any memorable times with them? I would have to say DP is up there with Pommery Apenage and Gossett Brut. I have actually been to Chateau Pommery and visited their crayeres which was quite the event but more recently, I had a magical evening with a lovely lady from Australia and a bottle of ’99 Dom Perignon. Bubbles were dancing everywhere.

    Cheers!

  • Another great tight show, though I thoroughly enjoyed the previous two-parter…way to nerd it up! 🙂

QOTD: I had a glass of this incredible Cava (can’t recall the info, sorry!) at El Bulli awaiting the preparation of our table…our honeymoon really rocked. It was an incredible day to look a the sunset on the Spanish Riviera…

  • Don Simpson

Gary – I bought CRUSH it on Amazon today! Looking forward to reading it.

QOTD: New Years Eve about 3 years ago in Washington, DC. My girlfriend and I had a nice dinner at Chef Geoff’s and it started POURING rain so we decided to stay longer and drink a bottle of sparkling wine. I ordered a $40-$50 bottle and we waiter mistakingly brings out a thunderous bottle of Champagne… I didn’t even notice it wasn’t the right bottle. I felt bad for the guy because it was a $150 bottle, so I didn’t even say anything about it when I got the check. It was so DELICIOUS that I got over it quickly and now look bad fondly upon the experience!!!!

  • My favourite bubbles experience was the 1982 Seaview Show Reserve Sparkling Burgandy (Shiraz). The story of the wine was Seaview made the wine and sold most of it. Bottled some and then forgot them in the cellar. When found the wine was spectacular and released in about 1989 (after winning best in show on numerous occassions). I got a stash and had it with Xmas Turkey etc over a number of years – just perfect!

My favorite bubbly is probably the N.V. Larmandier-Bernier Champagne Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut.
    Drank for New Years 2009.

bread-y, apple-y, but the thing I remember most was the honey flavors. Absolutely delicious.
