QOTD: My best bubbly experience was the first time I had real Champagne which was at a reception given by the US Ambassador in Geneva, Switzerland about 20 years ago. It was a phenomenal evening for a much younger man at the time. 😉

The best bubbly I have ever had is as follows: Barth Blanc de Noir Sekt (ULTRA) – Extra Brut. This is a German 100% Pinot Noir that after 1st and 2nd fermentation remained on the lees for at least 30 months. Gary, please do a head-to-head with bubbly that is not from France.

qotd: I’ve had some decent bubbly from Domaine Chandon in Napa (both at the winery and from the liquor store). The winery was full of uptight snobs, so that may have ruined my experience. Haven’t been wowed by any of it, other tha a sparkling rosè, but I might decant it as suggested in yesterday’s episode.

Good to see more bubbles on the show…I finally started getting “the bug” for them this summer. I’d have to say one of the BEST bottles I’ve had was more about the setting and what I was doing than the wine itself.

QOTD: Recently my wife and I enjoyed a very decent $30 bottle of MUMM. We were headed to Miami for a business trip and brought along the MUMM in order to have a nicely priced bottle the first night. We stayed at the Epic hotel and had the bottle the first night. We actually really liked it and it was a very nice start for a our week long trip.

The best of best was a bottle of 1999 Cristal I bought to celebrate my birthday a few years ago. I must have bought one of those really big good bottle cause that champagne tasted like heaven. It really was one of those moments to remember for live. I still keep the cork. My every day Champagnes are Monopole and Piper Heidsieck brut (red label). By the way, i’ll try to decant them, but i don’t have a good feelig about it.
