So how did you rate the sparkling wine that Jennifer Simonetti brought to the show?

The best bubbles I ever had was a Veuve Clicquot 96. I had that with my girlfriend and a couple of friends as a celebration because they were inviting us to be best man and maid of honor of their wedding.

Gotta say I like a bit longer episode with more nerdiness…however I love all WLTV episodes. Actually Gary I was just at the Eiffel Tower tonight; didn’t have any bubbs but great light show! QOTD: Toasting my brother’s wedding two weeks ago; not a clue what the champagne was, but experience makes great wine!

Can’t remember best bottle of champagne, not a huge fan w/o oj.

Separate thought, someone should make a video highlight of all the wines you drank on the show that you didn’t spit out. If I was capable and had the extra time, I’d do it myself.

QOTD: Every bubbly I had while touring the Champagne region of France…wish I wrote down the labels. But, I had an amazing experience having lunch with the Drappier family at their chateau. Even the 6-year-old grandson had a taste…so French.

You’re right about the packaging. The Pehu Simonet looks like a bottle of Freixenet Carta Nevada, except the Spaniards use a classier label.

Hey! What happened to your wicked Laguiole saber? Could it be languishing already? I have liked the Laurent Perrier Cuvee Rose Brut… I also tried a Jean Moutardier Brut Millesime 2002 which was predominantly pinot meunier and quite delightful.

Gary, I know I have pulled the S Anderson card before, but my most memorable experience was doing their cave tour in ’97 and then tasting a full flight. My more experienced palette ten years later would validate what a tremendous, and now gone, sparkling experience. I am sad that I have tasted the last of my ’99’s.

The saddest bubbles story – Returning to LA after a lovely Thanksgiving with the family in NYC, I decided to “liberate” 2 bottles of wine which were to be checked. One of which was a 1998 bottle of Dom. I arrive at JFK 90 minutes before my flight, and the line to check baggage was redonkolous. after waiting an hour.. i decided to try and sneak it in as a carry on. Fail. I was forced to watch the Dom being ripped out of my carry on by a tsa agent and ceremoniously dumped into the trash.

QOTD: My best bubbly experience was the first time I had real Champagne which was at a reception given by the US Ambassador in Geneva, Switzerland about 20 years ago. It was a phenomenal evening for a much younger man at the time. 😉
