Now we all love Gary and we love the show, but this guest was just too starstruck and psychophantic to do himself justice. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but he seemed a whisker away from wanking GV off…and that is an image I’m desperately trying to erase from my mind!

Maybe my fav episode of WLTV ever…great chemistry and the passion bleeds over to the viewer. QOTD: I have to be honest, I can’t think of one wine that did it for me. However, I can tell you that this wine blog made me think differently about wine than I ever would have if I hadn’t watched it. Thanks G.

That was a really great episode on so many levels!

If you are able ( and you are able obviously) to inspire others to go after their dreams, and have the passion for their dream, that you have for your dream, then that is an accomplishment you can be truly proud of.

Great descriptions of the wines, really interesting situation that you handled very well in my opinion.

It was really fun to watch Steve and listen to him share his journey.

The joy is in the quest. You both will have a lot of joy in your life.

Tasting Kathryn Kennedy(RIP)Cabernet around 1987 in the vinyard. It was only a couple miles from my house! All her family was there and I still have the glasses. Best ever, it was 50 bucks at the time. I should have bought it all.

    Great enthusiasm!
QOTD: It was the magical combination of time, place, & friends: I couldn’t even tell you what wine it was (although I wish I knew), just the house red of a restaurant on the Isle of Capri, drinking it with a great Italian food with a bunch of my friends & it was nothing short of magical.

  • Really good show with a true Vayniac who knows what he wants out of life and loves his craft. Website isn’t quite bad.

No glass, looks like a low-budget shoot, i.e. POW (Porn Of Wine) with no HD, zoom or Mott! but you got down to the core of your show. Focus on the wine with a knowledgeable guest. And, of top of that, here you are at a web apps seminar and what does he bring to discuss notes? Not a laptop but good ole paper! Cool.

QOTD #1: If I could take a pic of a hug from someone special in Australia I would so I may need to use Photoshop to post a pic. 🙂

QOTD #2: Being an “original” Vayniac this question has been asked before but I will answer again. I get goosebumps remembering the moment when I was at a holiday party when someone tapped me on my shoulder near the end of the party and I followed the host into his cozy living room to taste some wines from his “personal cellar.” Needless to say, I tasted for the first time a most amazing wine, a 1988 Dominus, hence my moniker ever since. Though my palate was still in it’s infancy, it blew my mind how good a wine could taste. It was my epiphany when it comes to wines. I’ve had better wines in the meantime, but that night, that moment, will always be my surreal wine epiphany.

    I hope to have more.

Great show, great guest. You rock Gary V!

    Cheers!

    P.S. Go Colts!

QOTD: David Bruce ’02 RR Pinot Noir. It was the first time I had a good wine, I was 19 and working at a large wine and Liquor store (which I ended up being the GM for). I had it with my family on Thanksgiving. I was like “holy crap” this is awesome!!! It was then that I picked up books and magazines and really got into the biz, and here I am 6 years later still in the industry but as a wholesaler now. Wine actually changed my life…

QOTD: I went to a Pinot Noir tasting about three-and-a-half years ago, and that was the first time I started to realize that wine wasn’t just “merlot tastes like this” and “cabernet tastes like this.”

Gary – I ventured over to Steve’s website and I saw that some of his episodes were shot in HD – they may take a little bit longer to load, but I think it’s time you upgraded – maybe a holiday present for Mott?
