Not a wine experience, and not in the airport but on the plane….a simple beer experience.

I was 21, and you could arrive at Reagan National Airport 10 minutes before a flight at $99 RT to NYC…

So after interviewing George Lois (great ad legend) in NYC, I hop on the plane back to DC, and the stewardess served up complimentary Sam Adams beers. I sat next to Susan Taylor – the editor of Essence magazine for a great conversation for 1hr. A cool day for a young punk, capped off with a good, American beer. Didn’t think about it after all this time until now.

Most amazing was the friggin beer was free??

I hate doctors with a ‘tude that have to put an accent on “doctor” as in:

Introducer: “This is Mr Robert Smith…”
Dr: “That’s DOCTOR Smith”

Yeah, we got it. You’re a doctor. How about I call you “Bob” until you earn my respect since you seem to have a hard time getting down from your high horse.

QOTD: First time I flew after 9/11 I was still a little weirded out ended up drinking like 3 martinis, then a couple of Gin and tonics on the plane. When I got to my buddies inlaws to be house for his wedding, I was feeling pretty good, but also a little nervous, cause hey whose this lush guy? But my fears were unfounded because my within 2 minutes of being there I was handed a beer by his FIL and his MIL brought out the tequila shots within 5 minutes.

Gary – an instant classic. So you, loving the fans, open to any wine, football. Terrific, and so typical of the challenges of finding decent wine in an airport. Love watching how you deal with it. QOTD – I forget the name but there is an outstanding wine bar actually at Newark Liberty (terminal C I think inside security).

Love the airport episode! Great idea to do it since you’re always waiting in airports these days. Should do it more often. Kill two birds with one stone: pass time waiting for your flight while filming a WLTV episode at the same time!

Poor Jets. I’ve become a Jets fan ever since watching your show. Probably more because your shows after a win are so high energy so I know that if they win, we get a 95+ WLTV.

Keep it up. Do some Okanagan wines. When are you coming to Vancouver?
