    Gary:
I personally didn’t care for your comments about the Dolphins at the start. Bottom line, they just beat you twice. On those times, they just came out ahead. I hate to hear you slamming them now – they are not good people, etc. Just man up … it happened. If the Jets were dramatically superior, they would have trounced them at least one of the games.

Also, I didn’t care for the “DOCTOR” (he was certain to stress that) that sat down AND began to discuss health care reform (unprovoked by you) even after you explained that you are currently taping. Fool! No concept of what is going on.

Note: Simpson on page 5 of the comments has a good suggestion for an extreme episode – different styles of BBQ and their effects on wine. That would be very interesting.

QTD – nothing significant to note at an airport bar.

Love the show, started watching a while ago, then stopped – now back!

I was wondering if you could do a show where you try out the Vinturi wine aerator. We sell a ton of them at my job, and I recently bought one myself. I’ve found it works sometimes, doesn’t work other times. Anyway, would love to get your feedback on it. Thanks!

  • I hope you and the Vaneacks realise there is more to Australian Wine than Yellow Tail etc,

    QOTD.
Traveling in USA for the first time. Plane delayed out of Denver to Reno – 6 hours waiting in an airport lounge. My travelling companion (work mate) got drunk on wine (not sure of the maker). When we goto Reno (~ 2am) I had to drive with a drunk navigator – needless to say we got lost!

GV… the show was awesome, and I like how the wines shown to today ( last week). I am in Japan, and recall before leaving for Japan leaving a comment about doing a show on Sake. Sake is no joke a wine (or brew as it was referred to) that needs to be enjoyed by more wine lovers. Total side tangent, sorry. Huge thanks for that by the way.
Interesting how the BBQ sauce changed things up, though it makes total sense. Glad to see there are $10 wines that are still bringing thunder from down under (total accident I swear).

QOTD: You said at the airport. So, I got moved to first class my pure random change, first time for me ever, going to Costa Rica, and was served Chilean Cab while the plane was still boarding.

  • Gary,

Although there were some “aromatic challenges” due to the type and size of the glass I think it might have been helpful if you emptied half of the glass.

Aromatics are picked up from the head space (the space of glass between the body of the wine and the top of the glass), not the base of the wine. Since you aren’t going to drink the entire glass anyway you could have given yourself some head space in the glass by pouring out half of the contents.

Love the show, it was great meeting you at V. Sattui!

  • GV…safe travels on your book tour.

Best wine/drinking experience in an airport would have to be an airport/airplane experience. I was flying back to the states after finishing a college semester in London. I had to stay at a hotel for one night as the lease on my flat had ended. I arranged a wake up call (which never came) and ended up waking up to bright sunlight and realizing that I only had an hour and a half to make my flight and I was still in central London. After taking the Heathrow Express, checking in, and clearing security I saw that they were having a wine tasting at the Duty Free. I had a few minutes so I decided to try a few (may I remind you that this is before eating anything for breakfast) Besides the wine tasting I had a few drinks on the flight across the pond so that by the time I reached US Customs, I had a pretty good buzz going on top of the fact that I was only 20 at the time.

…That for my would be my most memorable wine/drinking experience at an airport. Hopefully in the future I will be able to collect more and better airport experiences.

My wife and I love the show, keep bringing the thunder!
