  • Never drank in an airport before. I had the Little Boomey before, but it wasn’t as good then (about 2 years ago). They must have worked to make it a bit better. Trinchero family is pretty reliable for the value.

That was a funny show GV. Not only do we have Dr. What’s his name who doesn’t even know who you are and he’s walking around with your book, but we also have Matt panning around trying to entertain us while Dr. What’s his name pulls up a chair and starts yapping. Tell us: how long did you chat with him after?

QOTD: I’ve never gotten drunk at an airport bar. Home girl gets airsick when I’m sober, so adding alcohol would surely end poorly. I do recall however having a few enjoyable beverages in the Portland airport on a layover on my way to San Francisco. It was a nice way to start my vacation in wine country.

    Keep it real.

Love the ‘On the Road with Gary and Matt’ shows… AWESOME!!!

QOTD: On my way to Cabo with my Wife and her work (we luckily were bumped to 2st class)… LAX, 6AM… Bloody Marys all around (2 or 3, I think) before we board… pop a btl of champagne as everyone else stares at us while boarding… needless to say we had a great flight to Cabo… the rest of the day was a blur…

  • Don’t drink very often in airports but there was this one time….. I was on my way to England with the band I was in at the time and we had a few minutes (an hour..) and just stuck to beer. Had a pint or two then took to the air. No McNuggets I’m afraid tho.

QOTD: A long time ago I was bumped from a flight in Columbia MO and met four women who changed my life. No, not that way! It was not a drinking experience, but I did find my passion for my profession, and got a chance to live it last year, writing 250,000 words on Greek mythology for kids.

Loved the slice from Gary’s life. Fun.

Last year I was stuck in the Toronto airport on Christmas Eve—I was delayed 5-6 hours but there were guys at the bar that I was having a scotch with that had been stuck in the airport for over 24hrs—he had enough drinks in him though that he didn’t seem all that bugged by it!

  • The Lurk Monster

When I was 19 (and in college) I was going home for Thanksgiving break. I go to school in Dallas and I was headed back to Chicago. I pounded about 8 or 9 shots in the 30 minute drive to the Dallas airport. I ended up falling asleep while eating a muffin and playing video games in the Starbucks by my gate. I was woken up by a girl I knew from school, who happened to be on my flight. We pounded a few beers on the flight and ended up hooking up under the blanket fort we built over our seats.

  • Thanks for bringing us on the road with you, and sharing the adventures of travel. The plated food looked good enough for a pairing but it cooled off while you worked the nugs, are you sliding product placements in on us?
Travel safe, get some rest when you can, I look forward to your next posting.

QOTD: I’m usually in the bourbon or beer camps in airports, but the last trip through JFK Jet Blue we hit the Deep Blue Sushi as usual and had a racy NZ SB to go with the unagi and hamachi maki and it was just right.
