I haven’t watched this yet but I’m thinking Torrontes with chicken nuggets.

Thanks for bringing us on the road with you, and sharing the adventures of travel. The plated food looked good enough for a pairing but it cooled off while you worked the nugs, are you sliding product placements in on us?
Travel safe, get some rest when you can, I look forward to your next posting.

QOTD: I’m usually in the bourbon or beer camps in airports, but the last trip through JFK Jet Blue we hit the Deep Blue Sushi as usual and had a racy NZ SB to go with the unagi and hamachi maki and it was just right.

  • the setting was a bit noisy but good episode.

QOTD: Oh man, it’s a bit embarrassing but when I was in college, on the return leg of our senior trip to Oaxaca, I was not allowed back on the plane because I was still partying hard (i.e. a bit drunk) champagne bottle in hand and all (in 1992); I fussed until they let me back inside the plane and partied all the way home and into the night back home. They were not happy but had no other choice, I wasn’t going to miss my plane because I was still celebrating from the day before. Those days are gone now but oh those youthful memories, how quaint they are.

  • Aha, right on the heels of “Laurie in VT”…the green mountain contingent!
Hmmm…how many of us are there, should we figure out how to get together, and convince GV and family to visit?

    Great show!

QOTD: Two good airport drinking experiences…
    1. Sharing a drink with my girl before going to Europe for the first time. She had a Bloody Mary, and I had a Blue Point Toasted Lager, which wasn’t fantastic but it was all about the overall experience in that case.
    2. On my last trip I brought a 50mL 25 Year Old Scotch to drink on my way back home because I knew I would need it since I had to go right back to work. Definitely took the edge off.

Gary, I have to respect the “pumping out of the content.”

That doctor killed me though. He is going viral with the other doctors. They are all “practicing medicine.”

QOTD: This Halloween wasn’t bad. The drinkie drinks were flowing.

Thanks for taking the show on the road. Continue to think episodes outside the WLTV studio bring a real world, everyday element to the show that is entertaining and interesting. Also enjoying the recent focus on budget-oriented wines.

QOTD: Sitting in Chili’s drinking a forgettable merlot and waiting for my flight to California and first trip to Napa. I can’t tell you what it was, only how excited I became at the adventure to come.

Have never had a drink (not even cola!) in an airport, only on planes.

Thanks for the drive-by– er, “fly-by”..

  • I haven’t actually ever had a drink at the airport, but I don’t fly much.

I wanted to comment today, though, because I was really struck by the soundtrack in that bar. You don’t typically hear my favorite band in the world — Nine Inch Nails — rocking through a bar/restaurant. Pretty cool. Other selections were interesting, too.

That, of course, makes me wonder if music makes for a better wine drinking experience for anyone out there. And, if so, what kind of music makes for the best experience?

Thanks for bringing the content even from the airport! I was also enthused about the classic NIN that the bar was playing.

Hopefully you just got one more viewer from the doc. I don’t think he realized what a hornets’ nest of annoyed posts that he had walked into.

Haha The Lurk Monster, I am mostly impressed by the blanket fort πŸ™‚

QOTD: I’ve only had wine once on a plane and that was because it was free while flying on KLM to Holland. It was meh, I stood by the door and talked with my buddy while grabbing wines out from behind the curtain.

From a long time Fins fan…so sorry, and from a UCLA grad, always good to see Sanchez struggle.

First cereal, now nuggets?!? You da man! Looking forward to the book!

QOTD: Never have in an airport, but at a restaurant in Vegas (just after a flight) stumbled upon Four Vines Zin Port….wow! A small bonus from a trip! Keep up the great work!

Gary your heart is so big and your energy boundless.

Been watching you for over a year.I talk about you as though you were my friend which you are (!) and that is a magical thing to be able to create over and over again.

Many blessings to you and your family.

Mott is kind of like your equivalent of White Fang with Soupy Sales except not hairy (or is he? I haven’t seen every WLTV show, maybe he has shown his face)

Crush it! was a great read and several friends are getting a copy as a gift.

QOTD: I don’t drink at airports at all- can’t think of one time even.

Really enjoyed the show. LESS GUESTS & MORE KNOWLEDGE=MORE THUNDER!

QOTD: Honestly, can’t say that I have had too many airport drinking experiences. Only thing that comes to mind was having a Sam Adams Lager from the tap in some airport & really enjoying it. Always prefer Sammy from the tap.

QOTD: airport alcohol experience, the only one so far to mention is the first time I was in London, I was too young to drink still at home, but I was 18 there and they had all these vodka samples, so after they ID’d me, the person with the samples was saying “oh, sorry sir” and went on to tell me about the samples. was kinda funny because in my own mind i was still a minor, awkward, but cool!

Gary – enjoyed the episode, keepin it real like always!!! The background tunes were fun. The BBQ sauce got me thinking, have you done an episode where you pair wine with BBQ? In fact, I think it would be an interesting play if you paired different styles of BBQ from across the country (Memphis, Texas, KC, Carolina) with a lineup of wines. I think Vayniacs would get a kick out of that!

QOTD: Boy of boy, airport drinking, where to begin… It would have to be on a fly fishing trip down to Patagonia, Argentina. On trip down we flew from Dulles to El Salvador, El Salvador to Lima, Lima to Buenos Aires. The best was drinking and playing “pass the pigs” in the El Salvador airport around 6:30am. I think the El Salvadorians had no idea what was going on πŸ™‚

SFO, last spring. Had a couple hours before my flight because the gods of airport goodness sped me through check-in and security in less than 20 minutes. At the bar there started with a White Shark beer, then Fat Tire, Fat Tire, Red eye, bloody Mary WHOOOOOOOOOO!! What a great ride back to Japan. And even though the flavor wasn’t that great I had to get an enchilada as my last taste of Mexican food until the next time I return to the states. Damnit, Japan, why don’t you have any good mexican food?!?
