QOTD … a bottle of TO The Spaniard

Gary–I am so glad you did another episode on Falanghina because it was this variety that sparked my serious interest in wine and I haven’t looked back! My first ever wine tasting, fall 2008. Some nice, but run-of-the mill sauvignon blancs, chardonnays, a pinot grigio here and there…and then–BOOM. Falanghina. Totally blew me away at that point. I haven’t had one since that time, but I have been tasting all the wine I possibly can and I think I will have to revisit this awesome variety soon. I have been touting it since that first tasting, and I agree that, for me, in terms of QPR and flavor profile, blows away most SBs and Pinot Grigios and even a lot of Chards. Thanks!

Falanghina….. ahhhh…. reminds me of so many Roman trattoria’s. Feudi di San Gregorio is always nice and reliable and at about 12 bones the last time I looked.

Nice to see the different Italian varietals coming up, hows about some Schioppettino… though haven’t seen a barolo episode in a while??? (havent seen the last few months thou).

Great show as I have not even hear of falanghina before. Here is McLaren Vale a number of producers are releasing trial size bottlings of Fiano – and it is getting alot of interest.
