lines of the day (3 – first time ever!) – ‘The Abbott and Costello of wine bottles’, ‘I’m going for a big upset here. Mott, a little Buster Douglas action’, and ‘let’s stay out of Mott’s love life’

Stonking, all action episode with boxing references and demonstration. Loved it

If you’re interested in genetic mutations of grape varieties, there is a winery down here that happened across white and bronze mutations of Cabernet Sauvignon in their vineyard.

They have named “Shalistin” or White Cabernet Sauvignon, and “Malian” or Bronze Cabernet Sauvignon – I haven’t tried the wines so can’t comment on them but the mutation is fascinating nonetheless!

  • Gary,

This was the first time I’ve watched an episode of Wine Library TV. I really enjoyed it. I find you’re enthusiasm appropriately weighted (i.e. authentic).

I’m halfway through my second reading of CRUSH IT!

QOTD: besides my family (especially my 3-year old daughter Amelia) it’s automobilia! I love cars!

  • Do I hear 91? Ah what he heck – 92pts.

I knew it was killer when you actually drank the Tramin Pinot Bianco. Rare stuff.

Favorite past time: 1. NFL football 2. Old school wrastlin’

Thanks for exposing me to wines I’ve never heard of. I really enjoy learning about new and different varietals. My pastime is organic gardening.

Hm… favorite past time is a hard one. Wine, music (listening and playing), sports, the Yankees, movies – I like all of them. Oh, and spending time with family and friends (while doing those other things).

Those were a couple of good ep’s! My go to Falanghina is Ocone. Organic. No pesticides, fertilizers, etc.
And waaaay back in the 80’s, as a young server, I loved to sell Tiefenbrunner’s Pinot Bianco by the glass. That’s right. More than 10 years before there was a mindless, sheep mentality push for a bunch of tasteless, pedestrian, factory fabricated, cone spun pasturized PG’s. Lageder’s better’n OK too.

QotD – Music has always been practically as important as breathing for me. Mom and Dad’s 1st BFA were in Piano – a HUGE influence, but bigger still,I was the little brother during the British Invasion. Killed on my 1st instrument (trumpet), and later toured most of the states several times, and then, 12 countries of Europe, and South America. So I’ve pretty much had a blast with music, and made $$ doing it. Busking too, on my free time. loved the travel, but even at home, music remains a core of my identity and soul.
Cycling (as in bike), and reading come in as a close tie for 2nd.

Great episode, and great wines to look for.

QOTD – Being a reserve police officer, and working to right the little wrongs I can brings immense pleasure to me.

Following that, learning as much as I can about wine.

Love to read, love to cook, love my grandchildren, love baseball.

Try to live each day to make a difference.

nothing better than a 4 hr. bicycle ride in the warm sunshine. The only thing that can top that is spending the day with my wife doing the simplest things like having a picnic at the park looking out at English Bay in Vancouver on Rememberance day. Did forget to mention that there was some Gewurztraminer and Cab Franc to accompany the picnic
