93/100

lines of the day (3 – first time ever!) – ‘The Abbott and Costello of wine bottles’, ‘I’m going for a big upset here. Mott, a little Buster Douglas action’, and ‘let’s stay out of Mott’s love life’

Stonking, all action episode with boxing references and demonstration. Loved it

Agree with you, Gary, about the quality of the wines from Alto Adige, especially the wonderful Pinot Bianco grape. Love the clean, refreshing taste with food. Chehalem from Oregon’s Willamette Valley makes a very good one in the mid-teen range. Check it out for the store.

QOTD: My favorite pastime is probably cooking for friends & family…hence my love for wine as well…it just adds to the complete dining experience.

Gary, another wonderful installment. I really like the idea of exploring the lesser-known varieties and regions of a single country, tying things together with this theme. I am very excited to try some alto adige pinot bianco–hopefully i can find the Tramin because the flavor profile you described sounds right up my alley.
QOTD: Aside from wine, I play songs on guitar pretty much everyday.

QOTD: chilling at the local coffee shop, wine, scuba diving, fly fishing, music, skiing, Caps hockey games (since Redskins are awful…)

  • QOTD: I really love movies. Don’t get to them as much as I used to with a child now, but that’s O.K., we’ll get to watch them together one day.

Gary, I haven’t been able to find the time to watch much over the past few months, but I should be around a bit more now. And I just wanted to mention that I like the concise episodes like today’s.

QOTD: Working on my various art projects.

QOTD: Sitting around, eating, drinking wine, and making good conversation with friends and family. Nothing beats that for me.

    Love it Gary!

QOTD: Running, Sailing, surfing, skiing, reading

  • That was a great show my man. I have to try that wine and see what I’m missing. Also thanks for the book signing it was great seeing you again.

QOTD: I love shooting pool, playing guitar, photography and of course traveling. I think if I had $100 mill or so I would travel 12 months a year and live in hotels and just leave my house for storing my Motorcycles and pool cues and guitars…and of course my wine. Besides that I could live in Ritz Carltons and Fairmonts all over the world and never get tired of it. Well…. as long as it’s warm. I need my sun Homey!!

To sum it up…my favorite pastime must be relaxing……lol

Nice show GV. Look at you rockin the open shirt look; so hot right now. I will be scouring northwest Michigan for a wine shop that might offer these Italian varietals. We shall see…

QOTD: I think a fond pastime (which taken literally happened in past time, and doesn’t happen anymore) was Thursday night Grey’s and wine night. My girl friends would come over and I’d offer various wines and cheeses and we’d kick it and watch Grey’s Anatomy. Nothing like crying over Meredith and McDreamy while slurping down some good zinfandel.

    Keep it real.

good work Gary appreciate the time. We had a pinot bianco a while back that was excellent

Favorite pass time is following the yankees, and watching Brett Farve dominate the NFC north with my Minnesota Vikings

    Peace love and pinstripes

  • Gary,

Good show. I’ll be looking for and trying the Pinot Bianco. I usually drink Gavi when I drink Italian white…how do they compare ? BTW, I purchased the “vook” – Great Format !

Sorry GV but I’ve got to call you out on this one- if by great memory of the color a day later you mean the 30 minutes between filming back-to-back in the same day episodes, then yes, great memory! And I’m surprised you didn’t mention poor SSChris: 91+, no 92, no 91+, ok 91… Sorry not trying to be too tough, you consider us family & family can kid around, right? Hope Spain is treating you well- maybe tape another episode on the road? I do appreciate the effort to try & get 5 episodes up again this week.

QOTD: If I have nothing else going on I usually end up volunteering to do first aid at some event or other with the Red Cross

QOTD: Love to run! Training for my first marathon, it’s coming up next month. I’m sick with a cold right now (not the flu!), so my running is on hold, but I love to just explore Tucson on my own two feet.

Great episode today! I know nothing, nada, crappola about Italian wines, especially the whites. Only had disappointments in Italian whites so far, but this gives me hope to keep trying and see what’s out there!

Glad you went back to whether they like it or not. I have had a lot of pinot blanc from Alsace but not from Northern Italy so I have to try these. My favorite past time is hiking or in the winter cross country skiing.
