Agree with you, Gary, about the quality of the wines from Alto Adige, especially the wonderful Pinot Bianco grape. Love the clean, refreshing taste with food. Chehalem from Oregon’s Willamette Valley makes a very good one in the mid-teen range. Check it out for the store.

QOTD: My favorite pastime is probably cooking for friends & family…hence my love for wine as well…it just adds to the complete dining experience.

Gary, another wonderful installment. I really like the idea of exploring the lesser-known varieties and regions of a single country, tying things together with this theme. I am very excited to try some alto adige pinot bianco–hopefully i can find the Tramin because the flavor profile you described sounds right up my alley.
QOTD: Aside from wine, I play songs on guitar pretty much everyday.

Gary – exciting episode, you were fired up about those 1st wine. I wish you had stuck with your gut and kept the 92 point score!

QOTD: I love shooting pool, playing guitar, photography and of course traveling. I think if I had $100 mill or so I would travel 12 months a year and live in hotels and just leave my house for storing my Motorcycles and pool cues and guitars…and of course my wine. Besides that I could live in Ritz Carltons and Fairmonts all over the world and never get tired of it. Well…. as long as it’s warm. I need my sun Homey!!

QOTD: I think a fond pastime (which taken literally happened in past time, and doesn’t happen anymore) was Thursday night Grey’s and wine night. My girl friends would come over and I’d offer various wines and cheeses and we’d kick it and watch Grey’s Anatomy. Nothing like crying over Meredith and McDreamy while slurping down some good zinfandel.

And I’m surprised you didn’t mention poor SSChris: 91+, no 92, no 91+, ok 91… Sorry not trying to be too tough, you consider us family & family can kid around, right? Hope Spain is treating you well- maybe tape another episode on the road? I do appreciate the effort to try & get 5 episodes up again this week.

Glad you went back to whether they like it or not. I have had a lot of pinot blanc from Alsace but not from Northern Italy so I have to try these. My favorite past time is hiking or in the winter cross country skiing.

My pastimes are hanging out with my wife and two daughters, trying all kinds of wine,reading and learning.
