line of the day (after guest catches knocked over glass) – ‘Tell me your athletic background. Well, I played for the Jets’

Solid show although the guest let herself down a bit with the QOTD which was all about her rather than wine or the Vayniacs. Admittedly she was caught off guard but even so…

    QOTD: Definitely NEW ZEALAND
Sam, You will love it! Great wines, great scenery, lots of things to do…absolutely stunning country!
Actually, Gary, you should go to. The world’s best Sav Blanc and also excellent Pinot. I’m from NZ (now living in Jersey!) and can give you the inside scoop on where to go and some locals you need to meet 🙂

Great to see Sam Brown on your show Gary. I’m a huge fan of her Travel Channel shows. Nice surprise guest!

    Hey Gary,

I actually just recently stumbled upon your program, and I must tell you how much I enjoy your passion for wine. I just wanted to let you know that watching Wine Library TV, as well as spending the past semester studying in Santiago, Chile has truly peaked my interest in the wine industry. I have actually been to several vineyards in the Casablanca valley, and would just like to reinforce how beautiful and unique it actually is (An amazing corridor that links Santiago, which lies in the shadow of the Andes, and the coastal cities of Valporaíso and Viña del Mar). I would have to say that it is the grape growing locale that I most enjoyed while here in South America (I spent time in the Aconcagua valley in Chile, as well as around the Mendoza, Argentina area), and let me tell you there is nothing like a good Chilean Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc and some spectacular fresh Chilean Seafood. I also have become a huge fan of Carmenere, which in my brief wine tasting experience is incredibly variable in flavor depending on the vintage and winery.
I am sure you are at least aware of a vineyard called Emiliana, which uses completely organic production techniques. I don’t know if you have had one of their wines on the program before, but I was very impressed with their white wines during my visit. Obviously, as a college student I have limited resources, and I look forward to using your advice upon my return to the states to further expand my palate. I normally go to school in Philly, so maybe one day I will actually be able to visit the library (I’ll be legal in the states in 8 months)

    Un saludo de Santiago

Samantha brought me out! No longer a lurker. Alabama shipping laws are killing me though. Why Montgomery for a book signing and not Birmingham, who set that up for you? B’ham will represent for you Gary, come one hour north!

Gary: First time commenting, but I have been watching for quite some time. Loved the show and the interaction between the two of you! And as a big Simpsons fan I had to post how much I loved the reference. Keep up the good work and I really wish Maryland allowed wine shipments.

QOTD: Places in the U.S. like national parks. They are beautiful and most people in the U.S. don’t even know where they are or what they look like.

QOTD: Dubai. Unless you’ve already been there. I’d like to see yet another place I cannot afford to visit or live. Concentrating on the U.S. is truly my number 1 choice.

Nothing but respect for Samantha Brown. She is a real person with a great job. Loved the Uruguay pronunciation correction and the little bit of hell she dished out too.

WOW! What an unexpected guest. Samantha is a treat to see every time on TV. The best of wine meets the best of travel. My two favorite things. QOTD: I personally never get enough of Europe. More European destinations please. A place like Vietnam registers about a -.01 on my vacation list.

I enjoyed the Bulgarian wine from Katarzyna called “?” this weekend. Intersting flavors of coffee and cocoa. I would definitely buy it again.

  • I would like her to travel back in time to the year 1995, before I ever met my wife. So I could by her a glass of wine in NYC free of guilt. What a great spirit she has! Nice show. Cheers.

  • Another great show, comlimented each other wonderfully and great chemistry!

QOTD – Not sure if you’ve been, but PEI, Canada. Beautiful little tourist-y island (in the summer, we’re closed during winter months!), nice beaches, great scenery.
