  • It was SUPERCOOL to be in the room with you, even if the audio wasn’t great. In a case like this, I’m not sure what people expect. Thanks for taping that, Gary

Excellent, excellent episode. While everyone is busy bowing down to Parker, I will say that the most important wine god at the event, is not RP. Rather, it is GV. Thanks man. Bring on the thunder.

At the point where they talk about the importance of tasting the more delicate wine first, Gary turns the camera to himself and leaves a short comment. Is he saying ‘too late’? If so, that’s freakin hilarious….

The guy in front of Gary-his hairpiece almost wagged it's tail. Parker doesn't wear a hairpiece…hjis hair just is nasty and a comb-over.
I still don't know why so many wine newbies feel they have to dump on Parker. Nice cat, invented the modern wine trade (you can disagree but go back to 1978 when he started The Wine Advocate and see how much he helped wine quality as a consumer advocate -try Bordeaux and Burgundy in any “lesser” vintages to see how weak efforts were-and he's been doing this since before most of the newbies here were born). Not talking about 1945 Marques de Riscal, obviously one of the greatest vintages ever, but the lackluster off-viontage efforts…
People like Jorge Ordonez worship Parker because he is so often right and has been for so very long. Don't like his palate? Don't read his periodical. Of course his opinion should be taken with a grain of salt as any opinion journal should.

Thank you for letting us in on the tasting. I'm glad they didn't kick you out for running a camera during the presentation. My most memorable wine event was a Kristi's Auction tasting (in which I crashed, don't tell them). Got to taste some Screaming Eagle, Peter Micheal and older Dominus, but the funniest thing that my favorite find was a New Zealand Kim Crawford Merlot. How odd that a double magnum of Eagle in front of me and I liked the $12 merlot more? Love your show. Keep it up.

  • We like Aaron's idea…have you ever had Robert Parker on? Now that would be a interesting interview/tasting! Cheers

  • No

Don't forget to drink it with Sushi!

  • QOTD: My curernt favorite wine event is 20 Something “thenewvintage.org”. It's a new event in Washington State to draw younger people into the wine world. 75 different wineries, several restaurants and a dj.

  • John Martelly

That was awesome. The comment that Mr. Parker made about winemakers offering value, did anyone else interpret that as a gentle dope slap? I don't mean that as an insult. To me he was saying, hey boys our world is changing and now it's your turn to put out.

Gary, big ones to you. That was my greatest wine event. Thanks for bringing us along.
I'll even let the Jets thing slide.

  • doreglas

The rough edges made the video, including the stage whispers. Edgy and unpolished ? just the way it should be.

  • lordsauvignon

haha, I just like watching this vid. Cracks me up how you took the camera into the tasting, but hey it worked out. We really are changing the wine world 🙂
