‘I’m quite bored by it and I’m almost taking a nap.’

After a couple of bore draws this episode turns up a decisive and surprising winner of the head to head. Makes for a much better show.

QOTD: (I can’t believe I got in the top 5! From the UK as well!!) Anyway, I have asked everybody that will get me a present (not many people)to buy me a bottle (or 2) of wine – that’s all I want. I find it fascinating to see what people think I may like in choosing my wine. Know what I mean? It’s like asking someone to buy you a cd right? You have to know something about the person and who they are. Anyway – am currently drinking an 08 Settesoli Aglianico from Sicily; it’s a cheap bottle but very nice, my first Aglianico experience as well (expand the pal my friends).

I can always use some more vino.

    I love Oregon.

Last time we went the we swung by Elk Cove, and had a nice tasting there.

Love the blind formats. Keep it up.

QOTD: Im looking at a under 50 bottle wine cooler. I have about 30 bottles which need to be stored properly, yet now hide under the bed. Oh well.

Love shows like that. Pinot upset, with a hot QPR as the result. The blind format shows are great.

QOTD: A flip cam. I can’t record video at the moment, and I have a WLTV show idea I want to get out there for you. My wife wants a flip cam, too, so I think we’ll actually be able to do it this Christmas. Should be fun.

Cool, blind tastings! Risky business. QOTD Am going to Willamette for Xmas trip, hope to find some silky elegant fabulous pinots for under 25$. I know I don’t have to seek out the 2007 Beaux Freres! (Although trying it would give some nice perspective) Evening Land shows they’re out there… until the ratings come, then 50 bucks each!

  • CliftonfromOregon

WOW, didn’t see that coming. I’ve been wanting to try Beaux Freres, but will be trying evening land instead. I too have heard that Beauz Freres is a wine to have, but it is the more expensive wine that has been rated well.

    Keep up the blind tastings.

QOTD: A nice wine fridge, too much wine for my little 28 bottle fridge.

Not a fair comparison! 2007 was an extremely weak (aka lousy) year for Oregon Pinot Noir where early indications are that 2008 is was a stellar year.

QOTD: Funny you should ask at the end of an Oregon Pinot Noir episode. I want some 2008 Scott Paul Audrey Pinot Noir Futures.

  • SargieAZ

Great show- I read about Evening Land somewhere, they’re like this year’s Four Graces…

QOTD: a bottle or 2 of a great 07, been thinking a Chateauneuf, that will peak in 15 to 20 years to comemorate my son’s birth in jan 07. Family is the most important thing, and me being so passionate about wine, I jsut love the idea of sitting down with him in 18 years to open it up.

  • Awesome! I love the double blinds and a good upset.

For Christmas I want to have enough money left over to buy myself a brewing kit.

Great show, always love the OR shows as its one of my go to areas. With that said its not really fair to pit any 07 against an 08 IMO because the 08 vintage will be the best vintage in the second half of this decade IMO. Great fruit, but more importantly great balance unlike 06 and from what I am hearing 09 will be similar. 07 was just a wet vintage where very few producers really had anything stellar due to all of the rain, Cameron being the strongest I have tasted. I guess Bob must have said something to make you mad in Rioja 😉

QOTD: To pay off my CC bill from OR and WA

  • QOTD: I never think of things that I want ahead of time so it always depends on what kind of “kick” I’m on at the moment. Right now, that happens to be bowling. I fell in love with the game during the COLD winters in MT when I was in school. Just picked up the game again a couple of weeks ago and have been itching to upgrade my equiptment.

  • Coth in MKE

Oregon Pinot Noir, like so many PN’s, is too pricey. How about a Chilean PN blind showdown?

QOTD: Flip Cam. So I can “CRUSH” it.

  • Did you consciously change into University of Oregon colors before taping this pinot noir show?
I think your shirt might have had something to do with South African rugby but I wasn’t 100% sure.

First of all 08 is a far superior year to 07 in Oregon, so the playing field was not equal. That being said Beaux Freres is not usually that drinkable young, just had a 94 and 98 at Thanksgiving and they were quite good. I have heard good things about Evening Land they are new on the scene here in Oregon, I believe it is a French winemaker that is involved. I do think that Beaux Freres is a little overated these days and a lot of Oregon pinots have caught up and passed it in the last few years.

    What a cinderella story!!!
QOTD- I have asked for a nice set of wine glasses…(how about a sniffy sniff glass or wristband?) Any SantaGaryVee or Hanukkah Gary? (had to get both holidays in there)

Love Love Love Blind. Love Pinot, yet haven’t tried Beaux Freres, was meaning to, but now, quite scared. A hug and a million bones.

Love the blind tastings…but agree with others that you should have tried to find two wines from the same vintage…it’s not really reasonable. It’s like doing a blind tasting of 2001 and 2002 Chateauneuf du papes.

QOTD: I’d really like to get a job I will be applying for. As for purchases…I’d love a Riedel Grand Cru Burgundy glass. You guys don’t seem to have them in stock anymore…how come?

Reading about EveningLand Pinot online. Looks like it could be a nice up and coming winery. Sonoma, Santa Barbara, and Oregon. Eveninglandvineyards.com

Everyone should know that you are wearing a John Deere shirt, not Oregon.
Too bad that it looks like Packer gear.

I actually agree on the 07 BF Willamette Valley. I had it recently and was completely underwhelmed.

QOTD – Not sure, maybe a Kindle?

GV, Love the blind tasting, it takes the cost and name right out of it, awesome! I’ve been into Oregon Pinots the last couple months.
