line of the day – ‘maybe that’s why I’m such a girly kind of guy…because I drink so much wine’

Some interesting info about the health properties of wine but I found the guest lacking a bit of personality

Never thought I’d see Nick Perricone (dermatologist) on the thunder show! I liked his book, “The Wrinkle Cure” and learned so much from him re anti-inflammatory effect on the body caused by simple sugars, etc. Was a fan of his skin care line for yrs but didn’t work for me and very pricy.. Rather spend the $$ on fine wine. Good show!

Great guest! I love that you reach out to really bright people with something to say. His research sounds fascinating.
QOTD: Well if it is cinnamon, then I am on the right track as I use it often in dishes.

QOTD: Cinnamon’s healing abilities come from three basic types of components in the essential oils found in its bark. These oils contain active components called cinnamaldehyde, cinnamyl acetate, and cinnamyl alcohol.

Cinnamon slows the rate at which the stomach empties after meals, reducing the rise in blood sugar after eating.

Fantastic! Wow! Your guest was really interesting. Cinnamon, turmeric and so many herbs spices and vegetables…nature’s medicine cabinet. And red wine, too!
qotd: I’m onto cinnamon…sprinkle it on the oatmeal, the coffee, you name it. I had no idea that it was good for Melanoma but did know that mixed with honey it was very healing.

    Great ep!!

I agree with the doc 100% about eating the whole food and not only relying on a portion of it. It is really interesting to learn how the resveratrol goes down with the application of fungicide. I will definitely use that fact when promoting the grapes that I grow. I am a believer that, when needed to prevent total loss and applied properly, insecticides and fungicides can be a great thing, but shouldn’t be standard practice.

QOTD: Cool. I looked it up and found that cinnamon may have the ability to stimulate the insulin receptors in our cells, thereby increasing their effectiveness in absorbing and using glucose.

Fascinating episode. I wonder if reservatrol is effected by time in the bottle, as I’m coincidentally enjoying a nice bottle of Chateau Plincette Pomerol 2003. The tannis are just right. QOTD: Cinnamon I suppose is the intended answer. I recall Gary ate it right out of the box. Maybe dirt is powerful too?
