line of the day – ‘maybe that’s why I’m such a girly kind of guy…because I drink so much wine’

Some interesting info about the health properties of wine but I found the guest lacking a bit of personality

I actually have cinnamon every day in my carmel truffle coffee with frothed skim milk latte, sprinkled with cocoa and shaved dark chocolate. Mark Twain said that The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don’t want, drink what you don’t like (except for wine), and do what you’d rather not.

Maybe apple pie has an emotional effect that is independent of the food. Apple pie, for many us, is such a comfort food and has such great reference points that it has a calming effect?

Gary PLEASE get a lapel mic for you and your guests.
When you are excited the level is fine but as you and your guest relax it becomes almost impossible to hear you both

  • Gary,
Loved this show. I too have read some of the doc’s books and religeously take the salmon oil he recommends. QOTD – It is the cinnamon that helps regulate the blood sugar from spiking. Great Show! Another books is Roger Corder’s Red Wine Diet which talks about the “other” ingredients besides resveratrol.

Liked it. Nice to see a doc spit some knowledge. Now I’m going to go eat a whole watermelon and 7 cinnamon/tumeric soaked peaches.

  • Long-time lurker here commenting for the first time– had to chime in to give you props for not interrupting your guests as much. Definitely noticing a vast improvement recently over earlier eps. I get the whole no-editing issue and why you sometimes needed to prod guests to move it along, but you’ve gotten very Rico Suave about it. Nice job!

Oh, and please keep doing the blind H2H’s. Love ’em! Not all the time though– I like the rambly eps too.

  • Great to hear from an enthusiastic doctor regarding our health. I am also a firm believer that diet can cure many things and prevent most things. Just watched Food, Inc. and was blown away again by the crap we put in our bodies. Its good to know that wine is healthy and can help fix the past mistakes we have made(McDonalds). 😛

Interesting show, GV. Dr. Nick made some intriguing points about natural substances. I am also intruigued that he takes resveratrol capsules as well. Interesting.

QOTD: Okay, that’s intriguing. Apple pie did NOT raise the subjects’ glycemic index? Could be the cinnamon or maybe even the nutmeg, both key ingredients in any good apple pie.

Love your show. Got to this one late. Please do some research and check out Dr. Nick
at quackwatch.org. Much of what he says is TOTALLY without evidence and he trades on
credibility from having an MD. Stay skeptical.
