line of the day – ‘seemed a little conservative, then got a little freaky deaky’

GV was convinced that one of these wine was young, and one definitely a little older. They were both from 2004…proving that our leader is human after all.

  • GARY!!!

QOTD: I remember drinking an orange colored Barolo once!! LOL It was good…I dont normally drink that varietal very much…but certainly would.

This evening I drank Fladgate port..I really like that stuff! Looking to see if WL sells it, to buy for the holidays.

    xo
    Love ya Gary!

QOTD: Love nebbiolo because it is lithe yet intense. Barolos are typically too expensive for me, but I really like the nebbiolos from Piemonte. Pietro Rinaldi is a nice one I have had recently- dolcettos too.

  • Nice show Mr. Vay-Ner-Chuk… I like the laid back approach today. You look rested.

QOTD: I haven’t had a Barolo in years, but I used to drink them all the time. Maybe if you get a chance and we can sit down and have dinner one night then I would love to have one with you. You know….like for the Holidays. Maybe down the street at Basilico, La Campagna or Luka’s….or where ever. Hey, it’s been years now I’ve been asking you to get together for a quick dinner since I know you are so busy so at this point I’d be happy eating a baloney sandwich in your office drinking Barolo out of the wine room….lol

QOTD: Probably the last one I opened was a Bracco Barolo around 6 months ago. Definitely better with food. Used to buy Luigi Pira Barolo, have a few 97’s, 98’s maybe a few newer. Also from the King of Barolo’s, the late Bartolo Mascarello. I haven’t tasted any of the 3 I own, just his Dolcetto. The Barolo’s might be a little too Old World for me but time will tell.

    Love the blind episodes.
QOTD: Have actually never had a Barolo. Had 1 Barbaresco when I was a newbie & remember enjoying it a lot. Have 1 2000 Barolo in my collection. Thinking I will open it up in the next few years.

    Entertaining as always.

QOTD: I love Barolos and I fully agree with your assessment. I love big wines from the Piedmont and Tuscany regions. I find that they provide better value for the money than comparatively priced Bordeaux or Californian cabernets. I recently bought 3 bottles of the ‘Casanova di Neri Brunello Di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2004’ which I’ll enjoy after 2011.

    Keep up the great work.

Thanks, G. I’ve got some young Barolos waiting to be popped. This is a wine that I just can’t open up to in its youth.

QOTD: It’s been over a year since I’ve had a barolo, but, I was lucky enough to grab some 05 Maranesco Renato Ratti before they were given a WS top 10. Those certainly won’t be popped for some time. I’ll be sure and give you my thoughts then on this very same comments board. Ep. 3000 or so.

    KAD, too funny.

2 for 2 so far this week, love the blinds.

QOTD: Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of experience with Barolo for a couple of reasons. The first being they are pretty pricey and the second is that they take so long to mature and haven’t been in to wine long enough for my bottles to be ready.

I’ve never had a barolo, but I am fairly new to wine. I’m gonna have to go out and get one!
