qod: Worst was when it came back up on me few years ago. Way too tannic on the second tasting.

Q: Some 2001 Fronsac I picked up at the local wine store a few years ago. Just nothing there at all, and I’ve been warier of Fronsac than I probably should be ever since.

QOTD: 1999 Chateau Haut Brion. I was at a tasting of ’98 and ’99 big name Bordeauxs recently, including all five of the first growths; my first time tasting Bordeaux of this caliber. The ’99 Haut Brion stood out to me as most disappointing. Several MUCH more knowledgable folks there called Haut Brion their favorite of the first growths and I was actually briefly embarassed that it so little for my palate. I found your tasting note (Ep 150) afterward and it actually made me feel better!

Nice tight episodes. I like them but will miss the in depth ones if these go on too long in a row.

Looking forward to meeting you here in Denver on Friday 🙂

QOTD: Can think of the last one I had so can’t really give an answer to that one.

  • Man Gary.. these episodes are flying by. A bit too tight of an episode for me. I like to hear your non-wine yapping a little. I guess this is what happens when you end up taping a couple back-to-back episodes. Heh.

QOTD: Never had a Bordeaux, so no opinion on that. My last disappointing wine experience was Las Rocas Garnacha 2007. I guess I was expecting a bit smoother and sweeter effort than what it was. It was good, just not what I was looking for for that evening. Hmm.

  • Rocking!
I like your shirt today Gary Vee. ( BTW what does K A D mean? )

QOTD: to this day I haven’t had a disappointing Bordeaux, some have left me wanting a bit more definitely, but not to the point of unpleasantness.
