I like your t-shirt. What is the story behind it?

Love the head to heads Gary. But then again,
I love your other shows too.
QOTD? I haven’t really gotten into the Bordeaux, which may be the biggest disappointment of all.

  • QOTD: I haven’t been that impressed with the Bordeaux I had in the past few years, no none were bad enough to leave that kind of impression.

Barolo brought much more thunder, evidently.

Qotd: Chateau de Sales 2000. Perhaps I drank it too young.

    Love the format GV.

  • Most everything I have tasted from 2006 so far. The list is way too long to give. I have been drinking Bordeaux for 40 years.

  • I love this format too. Thanks and keep them coming. Maybe two Chenin Blancs from South Africa or how about some reds from Lebanon? Gosh, I had a Chat Krysa the other night and it was quite serviceable.

QOTD: Honestly, most of my recent experiences with ’05 Bordeaux has been less than stellar except for a white Bordeaux I had a week or so ago from one of your reviews. The “good stuff” I have down in the cooler, i.e. Ducru and Reignac which I rely on as my “go to” Bordeaux. The rest are too pricey for what I, personally, get out of them.

Too bad the wines didn’t rock it. I’ve had some hit and misses with ’05 Bordeaux.

    QOTD: 2005 Chateau Marquis.

QOTD: haven’t had a disappointing bordeaux yet, but as for the whole cab/merlot thing goes, cab sauv is probably one of my favorite varietals. Also, I got the Chalone Vineyard 03 merlot for FOUR DOLLARS and it was pretttyyyy darn good, especially for four dollars. 🙂

  • Hey, that Barolo the other day had an awful QPR, too.
What was it: 90 pts for $50? Pazzzzzzzz!

  • QOTD – All….While I have not drank tons of French wine, I have not found any that “brought the thunder” I am “trying” to like them, but considering how overpriced they are, I am glad I am not too fond. Definitely biased toward Italian wine.

    Lousy wines but great t-shirt.
Where’s it from? I want one.

QOTD. You have to drink through dozens of bordeaux to find something remotely of QPR that would make you consider ever buying again. I rarely buy Bordeaux now as there is just far too many terrible examples all across the price ranges. Too many bad one’s to name.

Good quick show, Had a 2005 Chat Petit Bocq the other day, great nose, was absolutely fantastic. Am very encouraged by the 05’s so far, so was quite surprised to see the Not great 05 wines Gary tasted today. QOTD a 2000 Duhart Milon I had about 2 years ago: it was quite closed down.

To a new world palate the first bordeaux experience can be a little underwhelming. Mine was. Subsequent tries have been more rewarding.

Is 6:30 a new record? Lightning fast, anyway. Also, who/what/when/where/why/how is KAD (or KaD or whatever typographic variation is correct)?

QOTD: Don’t know if I’ve ever had a Bordeaux or not. (Am I sounding like a broken record here?)

Thought this was a funny episode – between the re-sniffs and even a re-taste without comment, it took 40% of the show before you had anything to say about the actual flavor of any wine. It was a good show, in it’s own way. Blind tastes have a lot of value, although they miss the geek factor.

QOTD: Don’t remember what it was. I don’t drink Bordeaux often, and this particular wine was a random Medoc. Pretty darn forgettable, and since it was picked by my boss, who claims to know something about wine, I was quite disappointed. Either he doesn’t know as much about wine as he thinks he does, or his palate is just very different from mine. Since he’s my boss, I’m going with the latter. 😉
