Domaine du Closel was my first tasted Savennieres, and my father still has a 1986 one that i am so impatient to drink, and i think it’s time! I was very happy to see Gary talking about it. But so sad I didn’t know WLTV was doing a show in Paris, i would have tried to be there since i live in the city!

Hope there will be more!

Interesting show, yet again Loire Valley reprezents! Have to say though Gary the guy on your right seems a little subdued; does he even know what he’s talking about?

I most impressed that you are in Paris holding a tasting in colloquial English with the audience picking up most of what you are saying. I would venture to guess that a similar tasting held in Boston in French would not have the same level of understanding.

It would have been nice to have 3 microphones, and a camera that panned the audience to show the feedback from the crowd.

I totally agree that Chenin Blanc is HIGHLY underrated. There is an excellent Savennieres (Clos de Serrant) as part of the Chairman’s Selection program in Pennsylvania (where the govt-run PLCB buys out cellars at very cheap wholesale prices), and when I tried to ask about it, the salesman couldn’t comprehend that I, a 22 year old female, even knew what a Savennieres was.

Kenny: Don’t let Gary bully you. Ohio is not the opposite of Paris and I’m sure there was minerality on that nose.
Phil: Don’t let Gary suck up to you because you’re Parisian. But you do seem to have an excellent palate.
