    Gary,

    Nice show.

My wife is a big syrah fan.

    QOTD: Taleggio

  • Too bad those wines didn’t show a little better. Was there a reason you didn’t go with 07’s???

QOTD: I have WAY too many favorites, so I went in and picked one that sounded really good at this very moment.

  • Grew up on Caciocavallo. Search comes up on the website but not in stock. We “smuggle” it over each year from Italy. Its the only cheese for me that I eat alone or with bread. Here is the link on Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caciocavallo

QOTD: I love cheese and there are so many great ones.. But the one I could live with the rest of my life is a good 2 year old cheddar. Just can’t go wrong.

  • @garyv – I know, but I was thinking since you’ve already done 2 07 CDP episodes, I figured you would have given the 07 Crozes-Hermitage the same kind of love.

Lurkers coming out of the woodwork… Wine Library TV/Gary = awesomeness!

My husband and I couldn’t decide on a favorite cheese… I went for the 5-year Gouda (http://gourmetlibrary.com/products/5341-Gouda-Aged-5-Year), but my he went for the Cypress Grove Chevre (http://gourmetlibrary.com/products/8971-Cypress-Grove-Chevre). But really, cheese is awesome, any kind! Love them dairy products….

  • Rarely leave a comment, but love the cheese question and the gourmet library site.

The Smokey Blue Cheese sounds great. I may have to order it for a Baumard Quarts de Chaume vertical I will be doing.

  • Port wine cheddar is my favourite at the moment. Never had the Tuma Persa, shall look for it. I like hard cheese.
Best Crozes- Hermitage so far for me is the Les Launes 2005. Have the 2007 in stogare, a must try in 2011, I think 😀

  • Fave cheese: GOUDA.
    Fave Gouda; Saenkanter!
Fave Wine “Rabbi”: Gary the VEE!

Yo, G: Last weekend I had some BR Cohn 2006 Olive hill Cabernet. NOT the “silver label”, the REAL thing. I was floored by it’s remarkable balance and integrated complexity. Every sip was giving me new combos and undertastes.

Question: Have you tasted this wine/year? Whadidyou think?

QOTD: Rogue Creamery Rogue River Blue. It comes out once a year and it’s pretty close to perfection. Silky texture, and great balance between sweet creamy flavors, salt, and piquant acidity. Excellent with sour ale.

An old world cheese that is very close is Gabriel Coulet Roquefort. Simply a classic.

  • bigsemi

Love Kotzwald (?) It is a cheddar with chives mixed in. Awesome. Love the movies on ESPN. I’m a big Hurricanes fan so, “The U” was pretty sweet.

    Gary,

I was a little surprised by that Paul Jaboulet being so thin – I do agree with you that he consistently pumps out really good value wines. Another wicked show Gary, well done

qotd Danish Havati – rich & creamy

  • Vinny

QOTD – This is really hard but if pressed for my favorite cheese I would have to say Emmentaler. Certainly it’s my favorite “cheese and crackers” cheese.

I like lots of brands. The one you have looks good:

  • I love how surprising food pairings can be, my favorite accident was pairing an aged Stilton with fresh Mint Tea – seriously it was Delicious (with a capitol D)! – even better than the Stilton with wine! I feel that cheese/tea pairings are seriously underrated and can be stellar for apéritifs and digestifs.

As far as my favorite cheese goes, it has to be a soft/creme style cheese, the Epoisse Tradition is especially delicious! Check it out: http://gourmetlibrary.com/products/36015-Epoisse-Tradition

    best,

Love the Jarlsberg, Camembert and lots of others but ain’t been edumucated enough to know what goes with what.
I did have your misspelled Sansonnet Reserve for Christmas and loved it. So much, along with the Pine Ridge, that I ordered another C pack and got it today! Awesome but now they’re sold out! the Cliff Lede was also special. Thank you SOOO much WLTV. Happy New Year Mott, Gary, Kmurph, Brandon and the rest of you folks for making my holidays so special.

Hook’s 10 year old cheddar from Wisconsin tied with the kind of Epoisse you can’t get in this country, the unpasterized kind.
