  • Good episode. I’ve seen the Crozes Hermitage wines at my local wine merchant but have never actually bought one (nor tried fro that matter).

QOTD: my favorite cheese is Manchego tied with Emmental. I found one on GL http://gourmetlibrary.com/products/47201-El-Trigal-Manchego-8-Months

Good show, Gary. I like the comparison of the wines – straight up vs. paired with the cheese.

QOTD: Soignon Ziegenbrie Goat Brie (fantastic stuff if you are a brie fan!)
Couldn’t find it on GL though you guys carry a spreadable from Soignon which I haven’t tried but is probably delicious as well!

    Cheers

QOTD: I haven’t really reached out of the realm of grocery store cheeses (cheddar, cojack, cheap parm), but I had this at a friend’s house once and it was divine: http://gourmetlibrary.com/products/31907-Montgomery-s-Cheddar-Neal-s-Yard-Dairy.

QOTD: I really really like soft cheeses and this one was about as good as it gets. I haven’t had it recently, but the next dinner party we have, going to have to order some of this magnificiant stuff!!

Good episode. I like the value play episodes the most. It’s always good to find an affordable wine to drink now, and this one is one on my list to try. Happy New Year everyone!!

great episode. My current favorite cheese is probably something called Manchester. I don’t know much about it, but I love it!

@Dominus: I’m surprised you’d say that. My #1 complaint when I don’t like a Crozes-Hermitage is that it is too thin.

  • Hey gary! My favorite cheese is reblochon from…. France! I think that 100% Syrah is a little bit too light for the richness of the cheese so I prefer the blend Syrah/Grenache from the Rhone Valley. The Grenache gives a little bit more body and “masculinity” to the wine. I recently found some amazing cheap Costieres de Nimes which people do love with cheese…

Anyway, onto the QOTD: Favorite of the MOMENT has to be Humboldt Fog from Cypress Grove (http://gourmetlibrary.com/products/5460-Humboldt-Fog-Cypress-Grove-Chevre). I finished a pretty sizable wedge of it by myself a few days ago for dinner it is that good. Add in a nice Sauvignon Blanc and you are good to go.

I love when the “truth” of a wine is forced by food… be it good or bad. Just tonight I had a botle of ’07 Columbia Crest grand estates Columbia Valley Cab with a buddy of mine… nothing too great but when I bit into that yummy good steak with it? MMMMMMMMMMM… there goes the magic. Have had plenty of experience with wines being “exposed” by food but LOVE it when food+wine=happy phil!QOTD…simple pleasures, VT cheddar all day long

    Lurker poking my head out!!

I love Syrah so this was great episode. This works well because my favorite cheese is a great hard parmesan cheese. I picked an example from the gourmet library.

QOTD: Humboldt Fog is my favorite cheese – http://gourmetlibrary.com/products/5460-Humboldt-Fog-Cypress-Grove-Chevre

Also, a question to Mott/Gary (or more a point of clarification) – with an 85- score on the Jaboulet, is there no panning over to the Wesley Walker jersey?

Hope you guys have a great NYE.
