Buehler is an excellent wine. We went on a tour there – it’s also a beautiful location.

Hmmm..this seems more secure than TSA!

    Testing, testing….

    “KaD”

    What's this

  • Krunch

I just hope that the whole “BASES” of the show, “I have no attachment to the Product” or “calling a Spade a Spade” isn't lost.

I like the new commenting format.

  • That was a bit of a hassle on the ol' work computer, but we're in.

Hilarious. RT: @kingphat New procedure is fine by me. Next time we train wreck a forum I will refer to it as being “Helen Buehlered” lol

    Blind commenting?

  • iseegrapes

Hope you're feeling better GV. Can't wait to see 797…

  • Disgussed

I am disgussed to have to accept cookies from third party sites.

  • I liked this episode for two reasons – the guest wasn't pretentious and she clearly has a lot of respect for the way her father runs their business.

She's not the wine maker, she doesn't need to be able to break down the components of the wine to know why she or anyone else would like it. She was confident in her choices and I applaud her for putting herself and her tastes out there to an audience that may get a little catty sometimes.

I thought it was an entertaining episode (as they all are) and I appreciated its informality and freshness.

Is this thing on? Are all the historical comments gone?

  • you didn't like the comments so you deleted them? Worse episode in the 600 I've seen. She was terrible. You posted this crap you would have made 6 episodes.

  • Hey Gary, nice to see you back from the holidays. Nice show.

I watched this show AFTER having read a hundred or so comments, and I don't see what all the hubub was about. Sure, my “silver spoon” alarm (which is probably a touch oversensitive) was going off from time to time (the foreign capitols, the never buying wine), but that doesn't mean that Ms. Buehler is any less a decent person or somehow deficient as a member of the wine-industry. She may not have expressed her experience with the wines with an expert vocabulary, but she knows what she likes and– if we take Gary's word for it– the wines she likes are worth appreciating. I wasn't disappointed at all in the show, but I was a little disappointed at the latent misogyny in the comment stream (no one attacked Gretzky for not having memorized the wine-geek thesaurus, and he didn't offer anything beyond “I like it” or “I don't like it”). Come on, boys, we all need to grow up and treat women with the respect our mothers instilled in us.

  • jeffsjeff

Where are the original 450 comments?

  • winelikeme

I've been looking for them as well

  • jeffsjeff

Seems like censorship isn't the way to go.

  • winelikeme

This may start a whole new revolt…may outdo the Helen comments!

  • winelikeme

Removing the history may start an entirely new revolt trumping the “Helen” comments!

  • jeffsjeff

It truly just seems antithetical to everything Gary and WLTV is about. Censorship. How can you be appreciative of your viewers while at the same time muzzling their thoughts?

  • kasperhip

    hey Gary and friends
I love the show, and I hope that one day Gary will be able to tape an episode with Parker, just to get it over with, if you know what i mean.
On another note I think Jeffsjeff is right. Whether the comments on the Buehler show were moved because of the new system or not (Mott!), you need to put them back in order for us all to be able to see what went wrong. I don't want to speculate as to why we can't view them anymore, and I understand that we all need to look ahead, but censorship (if this is what happened) is definately not the way to go.
    Love and respect

    Gary,

What is going on with this new blog? What happened to the friendly format???

Bring back the OLD format ASAP. This account one is for control freaks.

The word of today will soon be…Unsubscribe!

  • Chris what do u mean?

  • What do u guys mean?

  • Sory bro but I did this so I could become more involved in comments, like I am right now!

  • ChrisC

    “Good move”?

He can Watch the sales GO down! The death of speech on WLTV. I will now tell all wine friends to avoid this site like the plague!

Why even have this blog if he DOES NOT EVEN TRUST HIS OWN CUSTOMERS? RIP WLTV.

  • jeffsjeff

I mean the 450 posts before mine are gone. All you get are the last 20. Am I missing something? We can we find all of the comments for Episode 796? There used to be pages and pages and a “View all” button. Now there isn't.

  • winelikeme

Seems like you could have been just as involved in the comments with the previous set up. Another thing–where exactly are all the other posts????

  • ChrisC

    Yes.

“Helen of Troy” started the Trojan War.

“Helen of Napa” started the WLTV blog war.

    LOL

  • jeffsjeff

Precisely, they're gone. And it's strange to me that it happened precisely at a moment when some negative feedback was rolling in.

  • JEFFJEFF I would never do that, we are putting in a new commenting system they WILL ALL BE HERE!

  • Jeff JEFF I just had them here, we have a bug with new system we are on it!

  • ChrisC I would never censor!

  • jeffsjeff

Understood. And that's why you're the man. Thanks for coming on here to explain the situation.

  • everyone as u can see we have put in a new system and not all the episodes are fully backedup and up like 795 and 796 but 794 is caught up so it should be any minute http://tv.winelibrary.com/2009/12/31/bubbles-on… I hope u all know I would never edit or filter or censor, COME ON!

  • Love u bro and pls get a profile picture 🙂

  • winelikeme

    Thanks GV!!

  • Big Boy I would never do that! New system, all comments will be back soon, episode before this is blank too! http://tv.winelibrary.com/2009/12/31/bubbles-on

  • jeffsjeff

You ready for a massive 800 episode recap? Because it's coming. 753-style, baby.

  • Danny I would never do that! New system, all comments will be back soon, episode before this is blank too! http://tv.winelibrary.com/2009/12/31/bubbles-on

  • NEVER!

  • BuddhaChu

    New comment system test…

Test failed. Says “Login below”. Mkay…where?

  • Sidney Australia

Guys, Gary doesn't censor. Mott does, but that's different. Lighten up a bit on this new system and let your selves rest until it works out.

  • Ron

I agree. Whenever a new system is rolled out you should always assume that things might not work immediately. That's how it is in the real world.

  • cgatesman

Gary, love the new commenting system especially with the threading!

I'm sorry so many people would think so negatively about you that you would censor the old comments. It was obvious to me that it is just a matter of getting the new system in place, first.

You guys are too sensitive. 🙂

  • cgatesman

It looks like there's real-time (AJAX) updating. This will be very cool!

  • Zach Z

Hey Gary. You better watch out. The way she was looking at you…..uhh…wow!

  • kasperhip

    Hey Gary

As I didn't read the comments on this show, I am very curious to find out what happened, especially because of the things you said in episode 797 (the stuff about a mom defending her daugther; WHAT…!?). You need to have the comments back as soon as superhumanly (yes that's you…) possible, and you need to do it for us all.

To hell with the general curiousity about what happened (including mine), this is an opportunity to reflect on mass mentality, human behaviour and lots of other pompous ass stuff, which should fit right into the general branding of the Vaynerchuk name that you are so vigilant in pursuing.

My point is this: with all the excentric, positive, decent and inspirational force you are able to put across in these shows, our whole image of you is depending on the fact that we feel we can trust you, at least to be yourself (and you know it). This gets hard if there is ANY room at all for speculation on censorship or dishonesty.

I don't believe that you would do it, and since a lot of other shows on WLTV miss comments as well I think that the speculations on censorship is over top. This being said I realize why people might think so (lawsuits and what have you…), and this is why you need to be COMPLETELY transparent on this issue.

What I'm saying is this: You need to prioritize this as an absolute first. If you can tell me to get hold of Barbaresco as fast as possible, I can tell you this:

If you have ANY way of getting hold of the comments on episode 796 in ANY electronical form, you must post these directly to the front of WLTV. NOW!

I would consider this THE most awesome statement in blogging history, and I guess you know I'm right….

    In deep respect and gratitude

    Kasper Herbøl

  • Over_and_out

Yes, one wonders why the earlier posts are suddenly missing?

I am only guessing, but this is what might have happened?

    1. This “Helen” post went viral in Napa Valley. The Napa Valley Wine Growers Assoc., The Napa Valley Tourist Board, The San Francisco Tourist Board, and the State of California Tourist Board all went into cardiac arrest after seeing a spoiled rich kid and smart wine savvy posters speak badly of their wine industry and tourist regions in a recession!

    2. Gary most likely was contacted by friends and growers in Napa stating you pull or ice(censor) these negative Napa posts for a while, or YOU will not be getting many guests(sid pro quo) from Napa Valley or the Bay Area.

    3. Gary and company come up with an elaborate plan to quickly change over the WLTV blog to this new format earlier than planned. This new format gives total control on turning comment pages on and off. In doing so, he magically has technical problems re-posting the last few blog post pages(Helen Posts) for awhile. This is why we were not informed of the change over. He had to do it FAST. Must have cost a lot?

    Very smart damage control plan.

The problem is, most of us can figure out what happened. He just turned these comment post pages off for awhile until the comments are closed to appease the Napa people. Could not turn these comments off in the old blog format.

  • I work for Gary/Wine Library and saved most of the comments right before we switched over to the Disqus system, you can read them:
    http://gourmetlibrary.com/Wine_Tasting_with_Helen_Buehler_of_Buehler_Vineyards_Episode_796.html

Sorry I loaded them up on Gourmet Library, don’t have access to the other servers from my home computer.
