Buehler is an excellent wine. We went on a tour there – it’s also a beautiful location.

    400th comment?

Many of the complaints/issues I’ve seen of Helen are pretty silly. While I took note of a few of them as the show progressed, they didn’t bother me. Why? Because while she doesn’t know much about wine – She brought them to the right person – GARYV.

Her not knowing much about the wine was a bit of a plus in my mind. It showed that she was in fact NOT prepared to be overly “selling it”. She let Gary’s sniffy sniff and whirl be the deciding factor.

    – So she doesn’t pay for wine – her family makes wine (makes sense).
    – Doctors don’t charge doctors (and often don’t charge nurses) for office visits or consults.
    – Cops don’t write cops tickets.
    – Construction workers go help their friends and get paid with a 6-pack.
    – People who work in a pizza shop get free pizza (by the way – Dominos new recipe didn’t help…garlic powder on the crust…please)
    – This list goes on and on…

Guess what…watch the AJ turning 21 show…see any similarities?

    Be empathetic…you’ll feel better.

I see this was an episode that generated a lot of comments. Not everyone is great in front of the camera every day.

I haven’t watched the episode, as like one of the earlier comments (I’ve read them all haha!) I cannot stand things which are cringe worthy, and this sounds right up that street. Whether or not people should insult her or not, who really cares? There are 400 something comments here. Approx 200,000 ppl watch the show (i also got this from an earlier comment). Most of the 400 comments are by the same ppl (phil m’glass etc). Whatever, it only means that about 0.25% of people are either a) bothered, or b) so self obsessed that they think ripping on people is fun (which it is under the right circumstances.)

All in all, I just wanna hear what GV has to say! I would be very amused if he came out and publicly ripped on phil m’glass or the mother or whatever. Right, back to reality……………

Wondering why GV isn’t commenting, hasn’t shut down the comments thread, or posted a new show in several days. Too enraptured by the comments generated by the twits? The last show and the sudden MIA status smells an awful lot like a promotional spectacle. And given the volume of really tasteless comments (about a 22-year-old) that he’s done NOTHING to stop, Gary’s show is looking a little less palatable to me now. Maybe he’s too busy on a motivational tour with Tony Robbins?

Her new tweets are great. I love this entire train wreck lol

why can’t tasting notes be an emotion and not a descriptor?

had dinner with Larry Hyde and sons this evening… Sancerre Domain Vacheron, Spottswoode sauv blanc & Arietta- tastes and smells like YES

Drinking a bottle of Patz & Hall Lee and Larry’s Chard- only 2 barrels made… tastes like awesome

    To Jonathan and Plonk
Extrapolating as to my Lady Luck from my typing is a logic gap that no educated man should attempt to leap. I admit my typing in this comment box is crappy tho. Problem is that it’s better than theva vapidity offered up by the Princess Buehler.
I’ve already mentioned, and had other posters agree with, the reasons she has drawn such vituperative responses. We’ve been sneered at, patronized, insulted.
It’s one thing when my fellow posters insult me. I actually find that amusing.
But for someone who wants to portray her family business to take this tack might auger a sunk ship.

  • Lisa Dollar Buehler@

Lisa, most of these people are just jealous that your daughter is so beautiful and so sweet that they wish they could be sitting there next to her. Guarantee most of them show up at your winery this year asking for her….lol

Gary is the one who had her on his show. It’s not her show. There have been people on the show who are very wine savvy and in the business and they didn’t even know that they were to ask a question at the end of the show, so the guests are not always ones who know wine or the show or anything for that matter. Yeah, the majority of them do, but when “Gary” has someone on who might not know everything about everything the vayniacs rip into them. It’s like thye wait here to rip into people so it’s not just your daughter.

I think your daughter is adorable. And she doens’t need to know anything about wine for me to watch another episode with her on it….lol

In fact I ordered 4 bottles of your wine to try it so I guess Gary having her on his show paid off for you so I would look at it like this…..they said Einstein was crazy…!!! The bible says Matthew 7:3 (New King James Version) And why do you look at the speck in your brother?s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

I owuld love to see half of these people get up in front of a camera and act like Gary or any other actor in the world. I doubt things would go so smooth for them.

Look forward to seeing you on my next trip to Napa.

No. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the episode that kills WLTV. It does give a pretty good look at what may be generation next in Napa.

The California wine industry was built by farmers and winemakers who got their hands dirty working in the fields, wineries and sales rooms. People like Peter and Bob Mondavi, John Daniel, Joel Peterson, Paul Draper, Bo Barret, Nels Venge, Les Behrens, Joe Phelps, Joe Hietz and 100s of others.

They are being replaced by UC Davis chemists, micro ox machines and graduates of state college business programs. Everyone is trying to shortcut their way to the next Screaming Eagle or Harlan. First they tore out their vineyard to plant Chardonnay, then Merlot, now Pinot Noir because of Sideways. Where are the standard bearers like the BV GDL or Caymus SS? There are few left. Even Charlie Wagner is more likely to be seen at a black tie gig then in the tasting room like his crotchety old dad Chuck.

Is there a generation of young people ready to carry the torch in this upcoming dangerous future for Napa? Sadly it may not be this girl. Believe me in Europe the future is protectd by generations of sound practise and laws. In Napa, I’m not sure wether young people are prepared to do the work or are looking for the next “event”.

I propose that regardless of guests or content that everyone responds on WLTV posts with such vigor and verve. This actually makes me want to get involved in other social media, I have not watched TV since this post started. All other forms of traditional media, with the exception of a good movie or an ep of Dexter, do not compare to the Helen Buehler fallout. No wonder there has not bee another post. Perhaps Gary is busy extinguishing the flames of the riots in Paris because of Helens comment. Either way, by far the most entertaining thread/posting I have even been involved in. And for all the reverse haters and sympathetics out there if this makes me shallow inept or otherwise useless so be it.

This is a very inspiring thread. It makes one think. Who are the next generation in California winemaking? Are they second or third generation children or are they pwople like Brian Loring who start from nothing and build something like earlier generations of winemakers.

    David Cooper,

Good post. If any of you have read the Millionaire Next Door, you know the answer already. The first generation struggle and get the business going, the second generation grow the business reap the rewards and live the highlife, the third generation who have never done a hard days work in their lives, piss it all away. It happens over and over again.

The Brian Lorings of the world eventually reach the top and the cycle starts over again.

Looks like this is why they haven't put up a new video. They were setting up a new commenting feature. Hopefully this means a new video tonight.
