    Lil' cap'n? uh huh

  • Katie Marquez

I don't usually drink soda but I'll have to say Coke, only because “Rum and Pepsi” sounds silly.

I've been thinking about the QOTD all evening, and I must say my favorite extrovert would have to be my Dad hands down. He passed away a little over 4 years ago but I'm sure his voice is still ringing out there somewhere. My favorite introvert…that's a hard one. My first inclination would be J.D. Salinger, who gave us Seymour Glass (who I'm sure was pretty introverted as well). But then Vincent Van Gogh is so, SO wonderful. Maybe that's how I'll answer: favorite actual introvert–Vincent Van Gogh. Favorite fictional introvert–Seymour Glass.

  • HenryCan

Two great wines I want to seek out and enjoy. Gary, which one would you open first for a casual evening?

  • cdnhoser

    Alright Gary,
    you win. I'll stop lurking.
Been watching the show since around mid November, and it's become part of the day's routine. It's a great show. And as funny as the Hammer dance was today, I thought the low energy / mopey Gary was a pretty damn hysterical way to start yesterday's show. (not that the Jets losing is a laughing matter)
    A few answers…
    Coke. Obviously.
Yesterday's QOTD (as I had my finger on the trigger)- chocolate milk and grilled cheese (with a lot of ketchup)
    Extrovert- Yo Samity Sam
Introvert- number 19, Steve Yzerman. Didn't say much, but he went out and got it done.

P.S. nice work on doing some shows on the Okanagan region! I looked at some in the backlog…

  • Coke over Pepsi, but I prefer either in the “pre-classic” style, so am interested to try the Pepsi throw back.

I have never tried a St. Joseph and right about now am certainly questioning why!

Extrovert, certainly you are in the mix, but for some reason my (and ESPN's) formative year version of Dickie V has a spot in my heart. Not as much a fan of the current version.

Introvert would have to be my father and his quiet way of impacting all of our lives.

    Great show today!

  • waynooooooo da winoooooooo

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW, GIMME THOSE VINOS !!!!!!!!!!!! :O)

  • corkscrew

Recently drank the J.L. Chave St Joseph, was very good, still prefer Southern Rhone over Northern, enjoy a California Syrah more or a good Aussie Sirah than a French Syrah. As far as extroverts go G.V. has to rank right up there…. http://www.winelx.com

  • SouthernBrewDude

Damn you and your anti-lurker rhetoric… I just feel guilty now.

QOTD1: Coke- I too live close to 'ol Hot-lanta to be anything else.

QOTD2: Introvert- Carl Jung. He might have been one of the ultimate introverts, and I think his work is nothing short of world expanding. (Plus he invented these intro/extrovert categories).

Extrovert- I think it's already been said, but Robin Williams. Painfully extroverted sometimes, and frickin hilarious.

  • SouthernBrewDude

Man, I feel ya. I'm in the same exact boat; love beer, not really into wine, big lurker and I love the show. I'm also kinda curious as to how many 'beer-lukers' like us are out there.

  • DPnCali

Your Travian sitter huh? Nice. I used to play but it got outta hand. So much time.

  • m2309a3

    LOVE the Lady Gaga mention!

  • stacey

Great show gary! We'll have to search out some St Joseph and hold it until I'm not pregnant anymore so that I can drink it.

Fav introvert: that's easy, my hubby. Fav extrovert: that's too hard!

  • No Pepsi, please!

QOTD: intovert: Dmitry Shostakovich (his music is anything but)

    extrovert: Muhammed Ali

I've been drinking more Crozes-Hermitage with mixed results. I like your redirect in the same neighborhood, Thanks.

  • Don Simpson

    COKE

Haven't read the comments yet, but I'm sure someone else has already razzzzed Gary about saying “Francose” instead of “Fran-SWAH”. Moving right along.

Tremendous show!!! I'm really glad you picked this region because I have not had the pleasure of trying St Josephs yet, but… I will for sure.

QOTD: Gary, I think you're fishing for extravert action on this one 🙂
    – Extravert: Thundercats HO!
    – Intravert: Snakeyes from GI Joe

  • Don Simpson

    If you want football:

    – Extravert: Chad Johnson (Ochocino or whatever his name is) That dude is a clown.
    – Intravert: Art Monk

  • Don Simpson

    If you want WLTV:

    – Extravert: MOTT!!!
    – Intravert: Gary

  • Don't drink soda/pop, but Coke.
    QOTD: Extrovert: Halo, Introvert: Tetris
Great ep! Liked the interesting/unusual analogy with the humble/nice HS sports star.

  • NIB

    Definitely Coke, and a smile:)

QOTD:Introvert, Hunter S. Thompson, “Buy the ticket, take the ride”.

QOTD:Extrovert, George Carlin, “Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist”.

Both these guy's were a huge influence on my life, I nearly cried when they died, but then I thought what a great excuse to drink….lol.

    RIP boy's

  • hollisdevillo

great show mang. one can definitely see the focus that you have now that the jets are over. awesome analogies on those wines too.
    QSOTD:
    coke.
    2 or 3 st. joseph = awesome.
    ex.-groucho marx.
    in.- benicio del toro.

  • Just Jack

That’s what Mott would do. But Mott is just the quiet alter ego of Chris. I suspect that Chris has shut down a few joints himself. Am I wrong Chris? I just think of him as the Slim Shady of the wine world.

  • Ian

    Excellent, knowledge packed show.

    favorites
    extrovert – Yogi the bear
    introvet – the scarecrow

  • The new king of "Pape"

Rock My Adidas, Never Rock Fila!
I mean; I drink Coke never drink Pepsi.

    Extrovert: Jerry Lee Lewis
Intravert: IDK Probably some scientist guy who' s name I don't know but who's product I use everyday.
    ?Larry Paige? maybe

  • flavasauce

    Great show!

Lady Vaniacs and Introverts are highly underrated in our culture IMO.

QOTD 1:Mexican Coke or Boylans Cola!!!- real suger, not that nasty syrupy corn syrup crap.
    2- Yes I've had a one or 2 St. Joseph's that I enjoyed quite a bit.
3-Extrovert: Sandra Bernhard. Introverts: Einstein and Siddharta/Buddah.

  • Cool_Dave

Mini question — Pepsi all the way!!!
Never had a St. Joseph but when I go to Bern's Steakhouse this fall I think that it might go with a good steak. I will check with the Sommelier. 😉

  • Cool_Dave

    Opps!!
QOTD — Extrovert = Gary Vaynerchuk Introvert = Mott

  • ErieWineGuy

    Coke only, always.

Pepsi tastes like salty, thin vinegar water.

  • boughtrecords

    Mini Q… COKE!
QOTD: Both introvert and extrovert commedian Steven Wright

  • flavasauce

Kosher Coke is the same as Mexican Coke, I believe, in that it has real sugar instead of corn syrup which is nasty nasty stuff. I also am BI-trovert. 🙂

  • Just Jack

Put me down in the stem column. I know that probably makes me a “pathetic wine groupie” As Mrs. Buehler would put it. But it is just one brick over a load in my book. You need to take baby steps when you are messing with traditions that are hundreds of years old. Plus I agree with SourGrapes: The stem is there in part to avoid transferring heat to the wine.

  • bdshupe

I seem to like Pepsi over Coke, but even Dr. Pepper over over Pepsi.

My favorite extrovert is Jon Stewart by far, he puts a fun spin on depressing news while still expressing the seriousness of it.

I've been explained as an introvert. They've never been around me in a relaxed situation.

  • castello

    Introvert: my cousin Rami

    Extrovert: Peter Schwartz ;-p

  • YoungDave

Boy oh boy do I LOVE the Rhone…

QOTD: Favorite Extrovert: my Mother; Joan Alfano: completely selfless and always ready to put her personality out there to welcome others in, cook for them, welcome others into her home, etc.
Favorite introvert: My younger sister Julie: keeps to herself, often in thought, but always the one to turn to when a serious matter arises that may need some deep contemplation before a final decision is reached. Pensive, selfless, and rational.

  • Anonymous

I used to do the same… I drank 2 liters of diet soda a day.. Then I watched a video about the bad side of soda and haven’t looked back!!!

  • Domdomi

Sub Question #2 Never had St. Joseph wine
QOTD Favorite extrovert – my wife when I met her 15+ years ago. My favorite introvert – my wife now (She has changed so much). By the way – do not ask me which one I like better!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome user name

  • jonnybubbles

Love it people. Many people may not know this about JonnyBubbles, but it is his job to make sure people drink that all-American beverage from Atlanta, GA. And I like what I see.

1 – Never had P… Never had Pep- I can't even say it. Coke all the way. But try Coke Zero.
2 – Had my first St Joseph a while ago, Jean Louis Chave – great price, yummy.

  • If you read a lot, and are in market for a Kindle… iPad is a no brainer. But for anything else, it’s neither here nor there. It’s not portable like iPod Touch, and it doesn’t have enough capabilities to be a “netbook” contender. And I have heard iPhone users say that multi-tasking is not a big deal, but tell that to an Android or webOS user. Once you go multitasking, there’s no going back. I am a grad student, and do a lot of video chat; so no camera = fail! If in addition to touch, they provided hardware AND software solution for note taking (provide a “pen” so that i can draw diagrams like I would on a piece of paper), I might like to ditch all my paper notes and switch to this. It doesn’t do that either! So, yea… beyond the Kindle-like use, I’m not sure what to do with it.

  • I think “iPod Touch” is better analogy. It’s a huge iPod Touch without the camera 🙂

  • Nice show. Glad to see the energy is back after the upset this weekend. When you buy them they will kick ass even more.

I will have to try these wines, thanks for exposing some off the beaten path wine regions. I appreciate it.

I am a coke guy as well, I can suffer through pepsi if neccesary, but I drew the line at one of my clients who only serve RC. I drank water !!!

    Keep up the great work.

    1. Coke
    2. No St-Joseph. Obscurish regions like that dont make it to Oz.
    QOTD: Hmm tough one.
Extrovert – it would have to be some inspirational political leader e.g. Martin Luther King. Would have to do more thinking to pick my fave though.
Introvert – I play poker for a living so I would have to say Barry Greenstein. In an era where poker players have played up for the cameras to help themselves build a marketable brand (er… not that there's anything wrong with that 😉 Barry has a fanbase among smart poker players for his measured, logical approach and lack of bull**** antics. He's also known as “the Robin Hood of poker” due to the significant portion of his winnings he donates to charity. Has one of the most trustworthy reputations in the sometimes seedy game of poker.
