QOTD1: Coca-Cola hands down over Pepsi, However I am a big lover of The Dew. Became an even bigger fan of Coke when the dropped High-Fructose Corn Syrup and switched to Sucrose a few years ago.

QOTD2: Have never had a Saint Joseph wine. I have a lot to learn about wine and there are many regions and varietals that I still need to experience for the first time.

QOTD3: Favorite extrovert would have to be my good friend from college, Robert J. Labay. I wonder if he will ever find this Post πŸ™‚

Favorite introvert I guess I would have to say Roger Waters of Pink Floyd.

  • Love the Rhone focus…

QOTD1: Coke on the cola front. I also like the Dr. Pepper, the Dew, and A&W Root beer.

QOTD2: Never had St. Joseph…I'll have to check it out!

QOTD3: Favorite introvert: My wife, without question…though I try to get her to come out of her shell every once in a while. πŸ™‚
Favorite extrovert: I will echo a few other comments with Jon Stewart.

Real Pepsi! Diet Coke… Did I just blow your mind?

  • Anonymous

I posted a very long reply to your wine and blood circulation question. Please take a look and let me know if you find it informative, or it you need more detail.

  • BOLTViper

Shoot I pulled the trigger too soon… Fav Extro: Gary V because he has his own box of tissues. Seriously, I grew up wanting to have my own action figure… Bobble Head's were 2007, Your own tissue box is the “action figure” of 2010.

  • plcb

Coke. My husband prefers Pepsi because we're stock holders.

Northern Rhone scares me. I think I can't handle the 100% Syrah (or 80%-90% with some viognier, marsanne, roussanne). I'm more comfortable in Southern Rhone. Throw in the grenache for my palate please.

    QOTD: introvert=me extrovert = you?

  • hahah Tissues!

  • Good ep, it was well past time for a wine nerded-up show!

  • Northern Rhone is awesome, by far my favorite expression of Syrah. I actually have not had a St. Joseph, but I've had Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, and Cornas, and the Cote Rotie I drank on my 21st birthday (clearly my first wine ever…) was one of my favorite bottles of all time, though perhaps it could have been the situation.

    Not a soda drinker.

QOTD: Extrovert – Alexander Hamilton, although Lady Gaga might be a close second. Introvert – at the moment I want to say Eric on Entourage, though I guess he would only be considered an introvert in that company, but as with wine, it's all relative.

  • ahillsey

Frozen coke might be the greatest beverage of all time.

  • viadomitia

great show. been a fan for maybe a hundred of them. Yes a lurker! I have a cellar with 200+ bottles but I am not rich so I need to hunt for affordable great wines (damn hard to get in Canada!!!). You got me hunting for Saint-Joseph now!!! Thanks GV.

Introvert: Leonard Cohen (if any stage artist can really be considered an introvert!)
    Extravert: Robin WIlliams

Coke… yes, as someone else said… not as sweet in Canada.

  • zrm

You club us sometime-Lurkers with guilt like a good Jewish parent should, and I gotta respect that. Every time you do it, you suck me in…

For that I've got a curve ball for you:
Favorite Extrovert: There is a ski slope in Pennsylvania at a resort called Blue Knob (funny in and of itself) called “Extrovert”. Steepest slope in the state, I think, and I skied it when I was in High School. Not pretty, but I survived. It was a huge accomplishment for me, and that is what my mind first flashed to when you uttered the word “extrovert”.

Favorite Introvert: Every boy should have his dog, and my dog was my favorite introvert. Her name was Mars, after Mars Blackmon, the famous Spike Lee character Michael Jordan hanger-on – so named because her tongue hung out the side of her mouth all the time. She didn't learn to bark until she was 3 years old, and our other dog taught her I think (Stripe was her name, after the Gremlin, and she was eerily similar in evilness). At any rate, Mars was just about the most loyal, sweetest, pleasant dog you could imagine, and for that she wins the award as my favorite introvert of all time.

Question for you Gary: Have you seen the way the NFL is kinda harassing Saints fans? They are asking local T-shirt makers to cease with Saints catchphrases and logos that look similar to the helmet design on the grounds of copyright infringement. It's very disappointing. Check out @fleurtygirl's Twitter stream from the other day. She was asked to stop producing a T-shirt because her fleur-de-lis looked too similar to that on the team helmet. Let me be clear: I have no affiliations, I have no agenda, I just lived there for 8 years prior to Katrina (displaced), and I'm simply disappointed that the NFL has been so quick to quash local ingenuity and spirit for what seems to be an agenda of capturing marketing dollars. It's especially upsetting when it happens in a place that deserves the spotlight as a success story after such a horrible disaster.

Apologies for the Sports Politics rant, but I thought the topic deserved public mention.

    Great episode Gary; fantastic.

MiniQOTD #1: Coke all the way, no questions asked.

MiniQOTD #2: I've never had anything from St. Joseph, but after your reviews I'm definitely gonna check em out.

QOTD: My favorite extrovert: George Carlin…need I say more?
Favorite introvert: My best friend Nick; he's a very quiet shy type of dude, but he's got the quirkiest sense of humor that'll have you on the ground in mere seconds.

  • Ozzy

If its regular than its Coke all the way, But if its diet I have to go with Pepsi.

  • Great Episode….

My favorite St. Joseph of late: 2006, Faury Vieilles Vignes: Serious old-world Syrah, Nose of smoke, blueberry, crushed pepper, violet. With time: vanilla, baked bread, cinnamon and white flower. Just a very pleasing floral nose. Full-bodied. Great fruit with pain grillΓ©, black pepper, and some earth. Nice medium finish. Great buy at $21.

  • Pat__B

This is WLTV at it's best! Bringing the knowledge an blowing up the world of wine! Thanks GV (and Mott)!

  • first question: coke/diet coke mixed at a 50/50 ratio… like at the restaurant when you push down both buttons at the same time on the gun.

last question: of course these answers probably change from week to week with me, but extroverts i love gary v. and jason calicanis … good stuff

    introvert? probably actor michael cera

Warning – Lurker responding! Coke for sure, gotta be regular. not as sweet in Canada i have to agree. Looking up St Joseph at the liquore store (we only have one, ONE, retailer in Ontario) there are a couple of choices in the low $20's but they are hard to come by. Great episode – gotta try some St. Joseph

  • darren28

favorite extrovert : Gary V – you rock mate
favourite introvert : My wife (Only sdaying that because she is looking over my shoulder)

Great show G. If only we could get more of these wines in Australia.

QOTD3: My friend Phil. Say something damnit. Pick up a tab, buy a round, be the first to tell a story. Be a leader damnit!

  • boomy13

    Coke all the way!

  • boomy13

    Introvert: My brother.
    Extrovert: Adam Sandler

  • barwarrior

    Coke.

Aren't introverts defined by how they renew their energy (by being alone)? I know many seemingly 'extroverted' people who spend the rest of their time alone, recovering from social situations; therefore, just because someone is boisterous, loud and outgoing does not define them as extroverts. My guess is that many of the famous actors/actresses we think of as extroverts are actually introverts; they just hide it well.

  • Neither, I don't drink flavored corn syrup.

Nope, never had any St. Joseph. But I will!

    Introvert: me!
    Extrovert: my wife!

  • Diet Pepsi – I drink way too much
    No St. J…Yet
EX – got to say GV right now
    IN – my dad

  • mxcnmrcnzrr

I can't believe There aren't more people saying this is an instant classic!! That Flinstone steak thing had my wife, my brother and me cracking up and the 80 year olds getting frisky OMG hilarious. Classic GV

    Never had a St. Joseph

Pepsi by itself and Coke if it's with food.

Favorite introvert would be my wife when I first met her. She was super introverted. She is has extroverted since then but I suppose she would still be classified as an introvert.

My favorite extrovert would have to be my dad. He will start up a conversation with anyone anywhere. I have to shamefully admit that as a youth it used to embarass me. Nowadays I find myself becoming him. People like it when you take interest in them. Thanx Pops!

Gary brother you rule!! Great episode. Keep em coming.

  • Great Episode. Best extrovert is my Grandfather, he's 87 and still works five days 9-5, he gets emotional about everything. Best Introvert is my grandmother she is only one who can rangle my grandfather, and she does it with the the quietest whispers in his ears.

  • jdemo78

No lurking here… We watch all the time. My husband says that his favorite introvert is Peter Sellers and / or JD Salinger.

His favorite extrovert of course is me πŸ™‚ Blah blah blah… Robin Williams or something…

I will look for the St. Joseph, bu we live in PA and you can't get anything here. It sucks.

    PS. Coke all the way.

  • d000d

QOTD: Definitely Coke. My dad would actually refuse any other cola at restaurants if Coke was not available.

Never had a St. Joseph Syrah but I will definitely try one

    Favorite introvert: Radiohead's Thom Yorke
Farvorite Extrovert: Gary V of course… bringing the thunder!! Haha

  • theDude

    Totally agree. Belushi rules.

    Loren

  • Waltraud

    Hey Gary,

This is definitely one of the first times I've watched your show (taking a class right now called “Idea of Wine” and my prof recommended watching your episode on how to taste wine). Love the analogies you throw out; makes it easy for the rest of us newbie wine-drinkers figure this stuff out πŸ™‚

I'm indecisive on coke or pepsi. I like both…although coke's got that teeth-gritty after-taste thing going.

    Introvert: Eleanor Roosevelt
    Extrovert: My friend, Hannah

  • teacast

Coke. Didn't even have to think about it.

  • cebe

Gary, ever looked at the taste experiment involving Pepsi and Coke done by Baylor College of Medicine? In blind tasting Pepsi triggered a five times higher response in the part of the brain believed to process reward than Coke did for Coke drinking subjects. However the picture changed in favor of Coke when the beverage was known, and the preference was triggered in the medial frontal cortex, a region that shapes cognitive powers- allowing what they knew about the brand to shape their preference. Yes Gary, it looks like you are a brand driven taster.

  • Lsquared

Nice glasses. I got a set of them for a christmas gift this year. I like them!

  • markuspeloquin

I can't drink Coke or Pepsi exclusively; I like them both. I love Pepsi, except that it goes flat in five minutes. Coke can maintain carbonation overnight. Dr. Pepper, though… πŸ™‚

I like the interesting stemless glasses.

I'm a n00b and poor grad student, but I am very tempted by that first one.

  • gncohen

    Coke definitely.
Had some St. Joseph while in France…great stuff!
    Love the nerdy France episodes!

  • Rich from Jersey

Nice glass. Diet Pepsi for me. Please consider changing your shirt when you video 3 episodes in the same day! Other than that…you are awesome and spot-on as always…

  • angelatcarlson

    Hey Gary,
Nice to see serious wines that bring the thunder!
I don't think I've had a St. Joseph yet, but if we have one at work, I'll put it on the list.

I'm a Coke gal, Pepsi is too sweet and I agree about the bubbles. Flat soda, yuck!

Favorite Introvert: A toss up between my husband David and Brian May, the excellent yet geeky guitar player for Queen. Know any other rock musicians with degree in astrophysics and who co-authored a book on the Big Bang theory?

Favorite extrovert: Again a toss up between you and my childhood friend of almost 30 years Haggai.

  • j allen

    Lurker Here…sorry Gary.

Coke, hands down. More likely to drink a Code Red Mtn. Dew though.

Just wanted to say that I have never had a St. Joseph, but enjoy the Rhone and will have to seek one out. Thanks for another great show.

    Extrovert: Neil Patrick Harris
    Introvert: Edgar Allan Poe

  • Robinelle

QOTDs: I drink either diet coke or diet pepsi – no significant difference for me.
I have never had a St. Joseph. Hope to.
Favorite extrovert: Mel Brooks Favorite introvert: Gene Wilder
