Sound seemed a bit muffled for the guest so couldn’t get too much of what he was saying. Shame

I have felt the same way since I began watching WLTV (I always have to catch myself when typing that because I work at a TV Station with the Call letters WLVT.) But seriously please purchase a couple of wireless lavs to use when taping the shows. Hell, I have several old Telex and Shure wireless systems just lying around that I could give you.

  • John Santamaria

Wow, this is actually a first for me. I am actually watching and commenting on an episode the day it is posted. Usually I am a couple of weeks behind on my WLTV viewing. Looking forward to Part 2.

  • scotty8m8

I have mentioned several times that the volume is diminished when there is a guest. This episode touched on a lot of topics I am interested in, but struggled to hear. But what I got was well worth struggling to hear!

All about the content. Great guest, then I’ll take 2 episodes or more I guess. Though you only get one QOTD.

  • laurieinvt

Harry seems like a really nice guy. He's led an amazingly varied life!
Interesting info on CDP, thanks! Hoping for more in part 2!

    Hi Gary,

I`ve been lurking a bit, haven`t commented in a while since my birthday last December 28, been very busy organizing my wedding on February the 20th, the apartment & the honeymoon!! You know it!! All 3 are gonna be awesome!!!

The shows have been good, but the St. Joseph was a great one! Definitely going to expand my palate in those Rhone appellations.

    Sorry for the Jets? πŸ™

You asked about Coke x Pepsi (is that suppose to be a comparison!?!?!): COKE rules man!!!

Oh, and we are going to serve a very good value Brazilian sparkling at the wedding, the Casa Valduga Arte Brut. Really worth trying!

GV, after Misha?s birth I sent a package to you, did you got it?? It was a dress from my mom?s shop for her?

    Best wishes,
    Mauricio Fernandes
    -Brazil-

  • congrats on Wedding, I am not sure on dress, so much came in, let me double check, I am so sorry, that was so kind of you!

  • Braden G

Cool guest Gary. Love CDP but they get a bit pricey here. I spent some time the other day looking around at the French section of my local wine shop and took home a Gigondas and a Crozes Hermitage… wines I would have never even blinked at without the input you provide. For that… thank you.

  • Braden G

Oh, BTW – sipping a Marlborough Sauv Blanc right now that smells and tastes like I just poured a jar of Bick's pickles into my glass and I like it. O:TU (Otuwero Estates) Single Vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc – 2008. Hints of the grassy gooseberry stuff you find in every other bottle of Marlborough SB but this one stands out… I know you love the pickle juice.

  • KVM1985

Interesting stuff! I'm always learning and it's amazing! Thanks!

  • carlo10

I LOVE these episodes where you really geek out…sorry i missed you on ustream, maybe some other time.

    cant wait for numero dos!

and the “likes” at least make you feel good when you are having a bad day, i like the new format ha ha

    Coming to denver anytime soon?

  • asdfdsfasd

this guys sounds like some rich trust fund case who's had a bunch of “hobby” jobs in life – meaning he doesn't really need to work, spoiled kid who can't make up his mind what he wants to do.

  • carlo10

really? cause i think he likes writing about wine. he just wrote about CDP for 500 pages. thats passion if you ask me.

  • A dumb Rhein king

Love to see you nerding it up man! Great guest.

  • pbarr

    Gary,

Great show. I love the fact this guy picks a subject (medicine, CDP) and then dives in and wnats to know everything there is about it. Got to love his passion!

  • bfr1028

    Hey Gary:
Im not getting these shows on my TIVO anymore. Anyone know whats going on with that?

There so much better on TV

  • OK I can understand why some would think this is boring…I get that the wardrobe repetition is an easy target.
Both of these are busting ass in their own way.
Wine spectator disses the book for typos and layout issues, but has to admit that the amount of information is staggering. Harry can hold his own.
GV has just taped back to back to back episodes, and still asked good questions.
As someone interetsed in the creation of wine…in the alchemy of soil plus water plus sun, to vine, to flower, to grap,e to juice, to the bottle…this is great stuff. Bring on part 2.

  • JasonGonzales

I'm down with that Carlo. It's difficult for me to pump out ten pages of material, let alone 500.

  • JasonGonzales

I get excited when Gary is able talk with someone who has the knowledge to go deep into nuances… Sometimes I can follow. Sometimes I can't. But I feel like I learn a great deal.

I like these types of episodes. This exemplifies why sometimes it's a great idea to have a guest on the show.

  • bfr1028

Thanks for saying this, i was thinking this when the post showed up

  • JasonGonzales

    Yes.

I love to Flambe! I’m gonna try this.

Mott, GV is louder than most humans! It wasn’t too bad but back and forth with the volume knob.

  • Good show about some great wines. I've had #2 so will be interested to see Part II.

  • Anonymous

NY! Don’t be dissing the numbers man.

  • Good first part, I have not heard aor read about the Chateauneauf Du Pape book but now I want it. There is one particular Chateauneuf I like, Domaine des SΓ©nΓ©chaux that you can find at Costco and very well priced.

  • CBone

A very interesting episode about some of my very favorite wines! I was just talking to my mom tonight about Chateauneuf du Pape, and about a bottle I had given her a few years ago that she recently drank. She is not a “wine person” if you know what I mean. She likes it, but spending money on it seriously isn't something she is into. But, she told me that it was the best wine she had ever had, and described it so elegantly and succinctly. “It tasted of sandlewood” she said. What a wonderful description!

  • manonthemoon

    Good start so far.

  • mariellelandhoward

Love that you're a Saints fan these days. We really did pull for your Jets here in Baton Rouge too.

  • thank u so much!

  • yes indeed πŸ™‚

  • We are all always learning, vino is deep!

  • NIB

Always good to see guests that can hold their own with Gary, and Chateauneuf du Pape is definitely one of my fav's, can't wait to see part two. Only bad thing is that it makes me wanna go out and buy some lol.
