Funny how I found you Gary. My familys been in the wine business my entire life, but I wasn't into it and moved to Hawaii to mess around and have fun. Well, web development has been my passion/hobby for the last few years, and a friend tells me “You gotta read this book about building an online business, it's called Crush It!” Well, I ended up moving back home to wine country and buying your book at the same time without even knowing you were in the wine industry, couldn't have been better timing to read it!

Now I'm looking at getting into the industry, but doing so with doing what I love to do, making websites, instead of a more traditional approach to entering the wine industry. Thanks for the inspiration, and I'll keep you posted on what I'm up to!

    Jeremy

  • QOTD: Yes.

    Good show, bad shots 🙂

  • winemonologues

QOTD: Yes I did! Loved it too.

    Blackboard QOTD: @WineMonologues 😉

I've been hearing about WLTV for a while but just started watching last week. I'm hooked! QOTD: I had a friend in the States order Crush It for me…I'm in Crete, Greece through the end of May and look forward to reading it when I get back to DC.
My wine selection over here is pretty limited, and I don't have TV so I've gotta say…I'm really happy this show exists because I can taste vicariously while being VERY entertained. Good stuff!

  • fanbrew

He has 2. 101 Wines and Crush it. I believe he is working on his 3rd.

  • fenderjeff

Loved the blind tasting and the results – exciting stuff!

QOTD: No. But if I had more time to read, then I would've.

Great show, nice and tight. Finally Cali brings the thunder! Testarossa is one of my favorite producers of CA Pinot, I have never been disappointed. 1000 THANKS FOR THE SHOUT OUT GARY, YOU FU**ING ROCK! New Zeeland Pinot can be very good; I managed to try a few when I was in Australia in 07. I don?t know if I would take one over an Oregon Pinot, although this show did not bode well for my neighbor to the north.

QOTD: I did not, sorry Gary. If it brings as much thunder as you do I will have to get a copy

  • bobpsi

I picked it up but didn't buy it..

  • Riddler

Love the blind tastings! Great show today. I'd love to try the Testarossa.

QOTD: I haven't picked up “Crush It” yet – not because I don't want to, but because I already have a tall stack of reading on my nightstand. I plan to get to it one of these days.

  • Always a big fan of the blind tasting shows. I would love to see one where you didn't know anything about the wines and had to choose: varietal, location, and price.

Yes, I did get your book via LinkedIn contest on Twitter. Really enjoyed it and picked up a few tips to help with my digital communications strategy.

  • QOTD: No, haven't picked up your book. But? I did look at the vook trial, saw you on TWiST, and do plan to eventually read it.

Loved the show! Really appreciate the extra energy to do the blind tastings.

  • gubbiotti

Yes, I got your book. Granted, it was a freebee, after you came to speak at AU, but it's on my shelf either way!

Been loving Flowers and Roessler pinots, from California as well.

  • jeremysanchez

    QOTD – Yes

  • cdncartman

unfortunately haven't picked up the book…so 'no'.

    Sorry Jerry.

Like the blind tastings and enjoyed the details about the pinot growing areas…a little more geeky information is always appreciated. Surprised you didn't mix in a Burg…a little dissapointed. Would love to see a blind GSM tasting….would be neat to see how a CNDP would compete against an Aussie GSM and Cali rhone ranger.

  • Hoze

New to the WL but have watched many of the shows. I noticed that you never discuss “legs” and whether it means anything or not. Please elaborate on a future show or maybe point me to a previous show where you mentioned the subject. Thanks

  • gjport

    OK show — and NO!

  • Mott

    The USPS.

  • discodan13

yeah, i did the audio book

  • nice shirt!

  • cdncartman

good call on the bags being useful for home blind tastings. I just use some tape at the top of the bottle to seal it up. I usually brown bag, and tape up the wines to be tasted…then I send my wife or friend down to the cellar to number the wines…that way nobody knows what's what. Gary should also consider doing something to hide if a wine is screwcap vs. cork. who knows, it could give the impression of it being a cheaper and/or new world wine.

  • bradleyp

QOTD: No, I am planning on getting it not to confuse my tally.

  • QOTD – yes. bought a signed copy.

  • Mott

    I’ll investigate.

  • capncrunch

California wine triumphed because there was nothing from Burgundy. 😛

I have not purchased your book. Sorry, unless it helps you win your bet.

  • Anonymous

You have my permission. There, now it isn’t stealing. I wouldn’t want to get a practicing Catholic in any kind of trouble. 😉

  • GLrocks

double blind is awesome and a lot of critics do not want to go that route it can be very embarrassing. Great way to have fun with friends and test all of ones wine understanding.
I have done many and have seen many a cocky sommelier be humbled. I think there is nothing wrong with missing. Thinking one knows everything about wine is a dangerous way to think. One of the best things about wine is that it is like history you just cannot know it all….learning is fun.

  • yes, you signed my copy…..crushed it! SXSW

  • DFbwp

QOTD: Have not purchased. I feel as if I have the knowledge. It's all about me stepping up to the plate.

  • MProust

Yep. Got both the Audiobook on Audible and the Vook

  • DFbwp

GV does not mention legs and believe he said at one point no it does not make much difference. Others can weigh in too.

  • johncannata

Gary – You should really work on your jump shot. It would have been nice for you to make it under pressure. I remember playing 'Garbage Ball' in school (tin foil, during school, in the empty trash can). Anyway, yes I did pick up the book (audio version) and have listened to it three times. I learn a new tip each time, plus it was motivational.

  • John Angelo Santamaria

QOTD: No, I did not pick up or read “Crush It!” Sorry Gary (or is it Jerry?)

  • mikebest

Yes I did, go crush it!

  • I was just wondering the same thing.. Not that I can remember. I think he should start with Tablas Creek (from Paso Robles, CA). (just a suggestion, Gary) 🙂

  • jenna35

QOTD- Yes, bought 3 copies! thanks for the wristband

    twitter name: jennavet

  • russfrancis

Yes, bought it for the Kindle and then got a hardback copy from my wife for Christmas, signed by you………
