line of the day – ‘we need a Mott cam’

Basically GV could say to Mott – ‘this smells like Bruce Willis’ arse on a Friday’ and Mott would reply – ‘Yeah I get that’. Here it’s ‘sardines’ that GV bowls out there and the Mottster picks it up immediately! Comedy value very high

I am listening to bach's chaconne for solo violin. It pairs well with a Cab Franc based blend from Waterbrook Winery.
    I am watching Eddie Izzard.
I am reading the CIA textbook for their wine coarse and a pooh pile of manuals on the new programming standard for the new Mercdes build series we are making for 2012.

Try “The Essential Wine Book” by a bloke named Oz Clarke. Very easy to read, informative (with chapters on all wine producing regions/countries), entertaining, and written with humor and eloquence. It comes out every year so get the current copy.

One of Beetovans favorite Cellists was Mauro Giuliani. I used to play classical guitar. Giuliani was an awesome guitarist as well as cellist.

I am generally listening to WWL Radio in New Orleans, all about the Saints…Constantly watching the news, because I don't have a T.V, but I play catch-up on Hulu with LOST, and Caprica. If I am reading anything, it's either martial arts related, or school related.

Hmm. Never heard of him. Just looked him up. Pretty interesting. I'm a cellist, and the Beethoven Sonatas are probably my favorite pieces of music. Thanks for the tip.

  • Mott Cam.
It would be very intesting for the camera to flip around to Mott when he is trying a wine.
Motts input would cover most of the drinking population. The “I like it or I don't” mentallity.

  • Moselman

Yeah, I'll meet you halfway Gary, and answer the QOTD (my inclination would be NOT to, as my answers are atypical just now due to current circumstances).

Listening: Can only listen in the car, where I tune to a local C&W station, cuz the rhythms seem to match the rhythms of the traffic. Druther be listening to classical music at home.

  • Almost forgot, NO, don't put Mott on camera any more than he has to be. I love seein him, but know he's uncomfortable on the opposite side of the camera.

Terrific show. One juice with an attractive QPR and a serious, higher end wine that also brings the thunder. Well played.

    QOTD:

I have been listening to a lot of Paul Brady's older stuff lately.

I don't watch a lot of TV but I am looking forward to the Olympics. I really like the winter games more than the summer. They show all of the quirky interesting sports like the Biathlon, the luge and of course the greatest sport known to man – that's right – Curling.

I am currently reading The History of The Black Douglases by Michael Brown.

  • Listening to: Pandora radio
    Watching: Modern Family

A $154 wine takes you back about…154 years? Plantation South, rise of Lincoln…sounded like 1856 to me.

Groovy and psychedelic show dude! Loved the black and white thing
Mott cam should happen, but i have to say that i think Mott should be part of the show more. In front of the camera. Try an episode with Mott in front, and Gary behind the camera…. that could be awesome…. and extremely psychedelic….

Listening: XTC, english pop masters. And Hall & Oates, they were also masters of their craft.

Watching: When i remember i have to watch The Daily Show (John Stewart is too funny!)

No, I grew up in Maine (thus the Moose and Red Sox), but I currently live in DC. I’m judging the halfway point from DC to the Wine Library to be around Delaware.

Here, here. We try to recycle it as we can, but we need to ship it off at our own expense since our city doesn’t have a Styrofoam recycling program. Perhaps there is a cardboard solution.

Yeah Linden has some good stuff, but they think they are better than what they really are. Very pretentious. Veritas makes some good reds!

Jefferson was U.S. ambassador to France for awhile, became a dedicated Francophile, and the book covers his life & experiences there: drinking, collecting, and turning people on to the wines (especially Bordeaux) of France.

  • YoungDave

Cahors!! Great category to revisit!! I'm a big fan, but quality can be less than consistent, so I'm glad you had two good showings today…
QOTD: Fantastic question, so here goes:
    1.) (Listening) Fanfarlow.
2.) (Watching) 30 Rock, Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, Top Gear, Modern Family, Burn Notice, Iron Chef America,
3.) (Reading) Sales and Service for the Wine Professional (boring, I know, but I gotta get through it before my Level 2 Somm exam…)

  • ErieWineGuy

    I love these informative(nerdy) shows!

I was just in the wine shop today and the subject of the Cahors region came up and I thought, “What was it that Gary has said before about this place? Malbec I think”.

    Timely.

I watch cooking and wine shows – the news is pretty much controlled by the new world order boys.

I listen to my family and friend's conversations.

I read the Word of God.

It’s called “Thomas Jefferson on Wine” by John Hailman. It is actually really good, from a history nerd and a wine nerd standpoint. Does a good job talking about both.
