line of the day – ‘we need a Mott cam’

Basically GV could say to Mott – ‘this smells like Bruce Willis’ arse on a Friday’ and Mott would reply – ‘Yeah I get that’. Here it’s ‘sardines’ that GV bowls out there and the Mottster picks it up immediately! Comedy value very high

Gary, would you consider me occasional? 🙂

listening: whiskycast podcast, the flower kings discography, and various pandora prog rock stations
watching:WLTV!, quantum leap, colombo, the office, various netflix movies
reading:too many law books! But other than that, Robert Jordan's wheel of time series…slowly.

  • angelatcarlson

    Gary. link up the MottCam!

Listening: Queen, Erasure, Metallica, Rick James, Stevie Wonder, Jethro Tull, Cindi Lauper, Scandanavian folk music and whatever old/new school rock is playing on the radio.

Watching: WLTV and a lot of late night repeats since I work midshifts: Top Chef, Iron Chef America (and the original when I can still find it), Law & Order, CSI, NCIS, House Hunters, Project Runway, Tabitha's Salon Takeover (she's so good at being blunt), Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, No Reservations (Loved the Iceland episode) and Man vs. Food.

Reading: Several books at the moment: Kevin Zraly's Windows on the World Complete Wine Course 25th Anniversary edition (got it for my birthday last year along with your “101 Wines” book which I blew through the 1st day), Elves, Wights, and Trolls: Studies Towards the Practice of Germanic Heathenry: Vol. 1 and 1001 Wines to try before you die from which I made a “Wish/Shopping List”.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a good value Cahors and give it a shot.
I've loved a number of Argentine Malbecs and it'd be interesting to try it from its birthplace.

Is there anywhere on the Net that these archaic laws are posted so the
local Vayniacs can start to chip away at them? I agree that if the
targeted states could lose revenue, it might not happen, but why not
try anyway? Any positive change is better than sitting on our hands
waiting for someone else to do something.
How can those of us in “unregulated states” help those of you who are?
(I have friends & family back East who could benefit from the effort)

    Come on Nation, let’s mobilize!

  • angelatcarlson

    Can I hear an AMEN!

And to truly acheive your dream, we need to work on standardizing US shipping laws so that every man and woman of legal drinking age can have access to whatever beverage they so choose. As a current CA resident, it isn't an issue for me, but y'all out there have to deal with all sorts of nonunderstandable red tape and shopping at special State stores. What can we do as Vaniacks to make this happen?
Do you think the States in question want to control access indefinitely or can public appeal in the way of ballot initiatives, etc. bring about change? What say you all?

  • mischu

Reading: What would google do, crush it

Good question. I have not researched this as thoroughly as it deserves. I currently do not know if there is anything we can do Via the Internet. Perhaps we should check with its creator, Al Gore. Better known to some as Manbearpig. With all seriousness I don?t think there would be much we could do besides flooding the inboxes of local congress men and women. Perhaps there is a petition we could start, or some way to mobilize and let ATF and other government agencies know that we shall not fade quietly into our bottles! It is better to burn shit down than to fade away. Wait… that?s not right, sorry about that. If anyone has any other suggestions as to what we should do, or if anyone has experience in alcohol transportation regulation please speak up; your fellow countrymen and women need you.

    Amazing episode!
QOTD: I am reading “The Hobbit” by Tolkien and “Crush it” again. Lately I have been listening to alot of Bonobo, a trip hop musician from England. The only thing I watch regularly is WLTV as I don't have a TV.

  • cellarrat5

As a fellow CA resident I feel luck as I am sure you do. Ever since I started working in the industry I realized that dealing with alcohol involves many outdated laws, many of them left over from post probation. The only conceivable way I can think of to actually change these laws would be to either appeal to local county and state agencies, start some kind of a lobby group that would make noise about how superfluous many of these laws are, and last but not lease do away with the whole three tier system of Producer, Distributor and Retailer. I don?t think that last one is going to happen in my Lifetime. As bfr1028 said, if people (government agencies) are making money it is unlikely that the red tape will subside at any point unless drastic action is taken *cough… Vayniac revolution… cough*.

  • late_start

    Yes. We crushed it!!

  • winedrinker

This was a funy show for me…the 2000 Cahors has a very noticable cap on it and when I first saw the wine, I said, I think I have that wine…then Gary says it's 150 bones and I'm thinking, Ok, so I don't have that wine, then he goes on to say, but we did nave it on Cindy wine for 64 bones and I'm back into the Yes I do have it!!.QOTD, always a classic rock fan, but listening to alot of jazz nowadays, reading educating peter, by Lettie Teague, and watching Sports…nascar, golf, and Syracuse having a very good year!!
