QOTD: On Monday after work I came home tired and feeling under the weather but bucked up to make my daughter her birthday request: Potato Leek Soup and Chicken Saltimboca (ala Zuni Cafe). Happy Birthday Chloe!

  • QOTD: I got laid off in September and have decided to really do what I want. So, I start wine fundamentals school in 2 weeks, so that I can take the Sommelier Diploma class.

I hope I can find the Denogent!

  • NY Pete

where did u dig that t shirt out from … your laundry bag?

  • GLrocks

QOTD last time I brought thunder was when I sent you a bottle of my Cabernet (LOL)!
Great show i was just wondering what the ALC was on each of these wines ( suspect not as high as standard California Chard….14.5 or less)?
I am buying them for sure. Keep in mind there are some nice Cali Chards out there with similar style efforts . Not all are maloactic and overoaked.
Regardless , these wines seem exceptional ,.. Great work again as well My wine adjectives continue to grow thanks !

  • jonnybubbles

Verget is to the Jets as Denogent is to the Colts?

I guess that would make the Patriots a Bouchard Montrachet Grand Cru?

  • The last thing I did to bring thunder was putting together a kick ass proposal for the NFL and Ticketmaster to land the social media campaign for Super Bowl XLIV.

I've started to drink more white's per your influence and enjoying the experience so far.

  • Pretty great episode, nice to see another under the radar area. We had the 2004 Chanson St. Veran before and it was really good.

  • allanj

    Great show Gary!
Qotd: Have not brought the thunder in a while… i am currently without a job, so it's a bit meh… You wouldn't be needing any assistance in tasting wine would you??? I could be your stand-in/stunt-double? ; )
Good luck with the TV show….

  • italianwinelovr

    Good for you!

  • matt182

Great show! Never had a St-Véran before, looking for the first one and there's a lot in Montreal, so i have a question for you Gary, have any thought on cellar potential?? Thx a lot!

QOTD: My chorizo lentil on Monday brought the thunder

  • ONUMello

GV- this is a case in point why you should taste wines that you have a bit more inventory of (>10 cases). That way if you have a smash hit, we can get some. Today, <1 hour after the show is posted & it's sold out. If you get more in, let us know, I'll be the first in line (hint hint!)

QOTD: I find any day I can help out some of my patients optimize their drug therapy, we both go home happy as I have made a positive difference in someones life & brought thunder for them

  • allanj

Will be looking forward to the show. Bring the thunder!

  • NIB

Nice episode, Chard isn't really my thing but you made them sound delicious.Maybe I'll buy a couple white Burg and stick um in my cellar….or should I say my closet lol.

QOTD:I rocked a pretty serious 6 course dinner party with matching wines the other night for my peeps.

  • ahillsey

GV, thanks for mentioning the importers.

  • italianwinelovr

Like the show…never put too much thought into White Burgundies.

QOTD: Approached two local colleges to offer wine education classes and I sold myself. Classes are in April/May! Such a rush when you #CRUSHIT!!

  • ChicagoMatt

    Sooo.

Denogent = Colts & Verget = JETS. Got it.

    Go Denogent!!

QOTD: I've been bringing some serious thunder in my tennis lessons, lately. Decided to get more fit in 2010 and have been taking my game up a bit.

  • KAHUNA

QOTD: I dropped a deuce today that really brought the thunder

  • Paul in Paris

Two great shows (Cahors & St Veran) Gareth – that really is value added. That Denogent is one to target for sure and if the quality is that good then Chassagne has a serious contender.

    Well done.

Johnfasc, The WL store is a 3 three story office building, has a full gourmet food/chesse shop, and it’s cold high end wine room is bigger than some normal liquor stores. It’s a fun experience shopping there, the staff is very knowledgeable and unlike most wine shops will spent time with you if you need help finding a certain type of wine.

QOTD: Ran three consecutive six minute miles this morning: mildly thunderous.

  • bfr1028

Im going to have to check these out!!!

QOTD: The last thing i did that bought thunder was to corectly diagnose a problem with a laptop that 3 other full fledge computer shops missed!!! Since thats my day job I was very full of myself, so i went to celabrate with dinner… Rich stuffed soul with good Chianti to go with it!! 🙂

  • KAHUNA

With Gary and white wine it just might have! LOL –

  • drt999

Saints v Colts, who cares? As much as any fan loves a championship, no city would care more for a championship like this than NO!

  • QOTD: I held a wine tasting for the Finnish Academic Wine Society…THUNDER! But gonna bring some more thunder over the weekend =D

  • thanks for sharing…

  • allanj

Oh, by the way. Have you thought about getting Oz Clarke on the show?

  • I love the “Letterman” style spontaneous tour!! Do more of that!
What is the significance of a “plus point”, like when you went from 93+ to 94+?
Lastly, Patricia is still waiting for your oak taste-off challenge (from Bos Expo Seminar)…

Did you get that shirt from the closet of that leprechaun on that FedEx commercial?? I have not had that many French Burgundies due to the crazy prices most are, enjoy Chardonnay very much so I will seek these out. Thanks for the tour of the 3rd floor of WL. As far as thunder goes this is a family show…. http://www.winelx.com

bfr1028, I can still remember the day with the King died…..(3000 Miles to Graceland-great movie), Gary is not a slave to fashion. http://www.winelx.com

  • alienrelic

QOTD: Can't realy discuss that one in a public forum, I'm afraid.

Enjoyed the show, especially the Great Glass Hunt…

  • bfr1028

Since Gary's wearing that shirt, all i can assume is He Lost The Bet!!! 🙂

QOTD: My neighbor's son came home from the Marines about a week about and he always used to love to hear me play my electric guitar. So I took my amp and my guitar to the top of my roof and played an electric rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner when he arrived at his house.

  • alienrelic

    Excellent!

  • aeo2164

I've noticed that some people rate wines this way when they think they have a possibility to become better over time.

  • QOTD: It would probably have to be forgoing a practical career relevant to my English degree to pursue a career in wine.

  • Really, very good to know.. thanks for the reply.

  • Grill Factor

QOTD: Brought some serious thunder last weekend when I surfed at Manly Beach in Sydney!

  • aeo2164

No problem 😀 It's what we are here for.

  • DPnCali

It's ok GV, you can say it…everybody already knows it anyway…The Colts were just the better team. 🙂

QOTD: The last time I brought serious thunder was the Christmas of 08. I got my wife all perfect, and I mean perfect, gifts (perfect for her of course). Made her cry the entire time she was opening them, they were so good. One of them involved the kids and everything…anyway, I won't go all into details, but that day shines when I look back at it for a time when I brought thunder.

  • DPnCali

Nice! That is bringing the thunder right there!

  • mikek

    AWESOME!

  • late_start

    You're just upset you weren't #1 this episode…..

  • MooseSox

Well, I got a shipment of wine from you last week with some WOY picks, so that's the last time I bought some thunder.

I think I'm too self critical to say when I last brought the thunder.

  • tooch

Pissed that the Denogent is sold out. That is all.

  • NY Pete

    GO SAINTS!

  • SeanieBoy

Gary, great whites like this make me want really fresh sushi. If you read the cookbook “The Young Man and the Sea”, which gives recipes from Mario Batali's restaurant Esca, it talks about going fishing and bringing salt and fresh citrus. After you catch the fish, fillet it on the boat, squeeze on some lime and you have the world's freshest sashimi!

QOTD: I brought some thunder dancing Saturday night!

  • rats…no TV..if I had known I maybe could have grabbed it at the office…maybe a vaniac will digitize and post it?

  • Damn. I've never so suddenly wanted a Chardonnay so much. Your descriptions were seriously making me salivate. Got to get me some of that! More importantly, I will now be scouring ebay for hours trying to acquire a Kool & the Gang eraser.

qotd: Gave a solid lecture on basics of alcohol production to wine class which brought the house down. Well, it at least kicked the door in.

  • mott told me that you have to start playing the episode before the comment link will show up…happened to me before. Good luck next time.
