Congrats! As I heard…well…somewhere before as a toast: May the best of your past be the worst of your future.

  • castello

Gary! Can you get somebody on this. Please! 101 books!
I don't get emails either when the show is on but…..I only bought one book

  • DPnCali

Is anyone else having a problem with the real-time updating going to “paused” on its own?

  • Just Jack

Another great show. Ever since the priceless chick, the show has been on a pretty impressive roll.

QOTD: It was actually a GV inspired moment. I had been negotiating the terms of a transaction with a client the other day. I was sticking to my price as I generally try to compete on service and knowledge rather than price. I'm a pretty convincing guy (modest too), so I got my price but I could tell she wasn't really thrilled. That night, I just happened to watch GV's short blog musing about how important customer expectations are and how it is great that we have so many tools to measure and shape expectations. I did something I have never done. I pretended I was a consumer, went online and shopped for my own product. It seems so basic I feel like a moron for never having done it before. I discovered that, were I in her shoes, I would have a justifiable case for feeling slightly ripped off. I called her the next day and told her I was giving her a discount. Now she is an evangelist for my business and I have received two referrals from her. Thunderous Maximus – Thanks Gary.

Anyone ever had an 06 Dom de La Denante St. Veran? If so, could you tell me what you thought about it? They have it at a store near me for about $19. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • I noticed a case of Dogfish Head beer being used for document storage when you were walking through the office areas. Love to see that!

QotD: The last thing I did that brought Thunder was crushing it at my job prior to being laid off. I crushed it so hard, today they rehired me after five months of unemployment!

  • Wow – great show! I think I will fishing for some St. Veran πŸ˜‰

    @QOTD
I set up a new WLAN environment in our company!

Whiskey rocks. Have you heard about whiskycastdot com pretty cool audio blog I found on here,,, I think.

  • castello

I think you had a bad experience with vinegar as a child. I can't stand dill pickles or most olives because of the vinegar smell and taste but red wine doesn't bother me. You've got to face your fear and take a big drink and hold your nose.

  • castello

    Good job! Welcome home!

Kewl, didn’t give you much time did they.

  • I’ll ask my stepsons if they have any stored away somewhere in a box down in the basement πŸ™‚

QOTD I gave one of my bottles of St Joseph Mairlant to a friend in need.
We tasted it first and approved but it seem to loose it after a couple hours. I'll have to check the leftovers with breakfast.
Great tour of headquarters! Mott didn't miss a thing. If you find some of that Denogent in that mess, put it on Cindy.

  • skribbles

Did I just hear GV say he wanted the wine cold…crazy.

QOTD: A week of traveling, business lunches and lots of new design ideas. Feel like I crushed every city I was in.

  • Dear Gary …Rocking Show and Awesome book!
Seriously struggling here…4 years ago I was hijacked and beaten and held hostage for 4 hours being told they were going to kill me… When I miraculously survived I decided to to give up alcohol for 1 year. I was a good time of thanks giving for me…When I returned to the vine after 1 full and faithful year everything tasted blissfully new. So 2010 I thought I would do another year of vine fasting and spiritually grow somemore….Your pure passion is wonderful to watch ….I can taste the wine with out the tongue! 11 more (long) months to go…..but Rock on
    kind regards
    Rob

    FRANCE RULES!

I hope I can find wine #1. Living in CT, sometimes it's hard to find these unique wines.

QOTD- I took a course at the International Wine Center in NYC –and passed.. crazy hard.

I never thought my life could be
    Anything but catastrophe
But suddenly I begin to see
A bit of good luck for me

    QOTD
Standing around a wine barrel tasting wines from a very small but high quality producer and discussing wines, McLaren Vale in general and talking about my family – 3 of my favorite things!

Nice CJ, in order to bring thunder you create thunder. Your like the Zeus of Texas. The winery I work for has an unofficial fanculb in Texas, I have had to re-evaluate my view on wines from the “other” 46. I hear you have a few hundred acers in Texas now, I’ll keep my eyes open.

  • Hey John, funny stuff! Thank you for pointing out the picture quality, I’ll correct that.

John, I sincerely appreciate the support of my past military service and I can tell you that I speak for all the men and women in uniform when I say that it means everything to know we have great people like you backing us up. Thank you!

And, thank you for checking out my site. I am very close to expanding it to a much bigger platform and I’m VERY excited about what will be coming in the next few days.

Thanks again, and look forward to connecting again soon!

  • Kendraloveswine

Just watched you on the Today Show…great job! πŸ™‚ Going to try and find Cava. I love Champagne but not the price tag…I can pull off $8-12 for Cava. Anyways, it was awesome seeing you on national TV. Congrats!

Tomahawk cruise missiles from my ship stationed in the Gulf at the very beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, we were the first ship to take action against Saddam's regime. The sky was filled with man-made thunder. At the time, it felt awesome. No wine or beer was present πŸ™

Thanks for introducing me to a new region for me to explore. Third floor of the WL is one word in my eyes : “organized mahem”.

QOTD: I am out of control with all things sweet. I have realized that desserts are simply a luxury. So when the people of Haiti had the tragic misfortune of going through that earthquake I decided to give up all sweets in 2010. That is my one sacrifice that I can do to keep me grounded as to what are the true necessities in life.

  • Anonymous

Thanks Anders, I’m trying but which of the many names. While figuring out which name to search with, I see it’s back at the WL! In for 3!

If that’s only a 45-degree shift, what career were you in?

  • Now this'll be one of my favs! Loved the mess, haha. Really a place where work is done, instead of keeping everything clean. Like that!

    QOTD:
My selectionday for the Hospitality school (Hotelschool in dutch). Don't know yet if I made it, but it went well I think, so that gave me thunder!

  • wizzardsblog

Another great episode, got a lot to catch up on. I always like the little trips around WLTV πŸ™‚

QOTD: Looks like after nearly a year, I'm employed for a short while again.

  • Anonymous

Sometimes I feel like I get paied too much, other times not enough. But I suppose I cannot complain. There are worse jobs out there. Dirty jobs has helped show me this. Mike Rowe is the shit.

  • wineembassy

Hey another big thundershow…I love St. Veran….and so I sold a lot in the restaurant.
The people loved st veran. But like other a little bit unknowned wines. If they dont know the wine, it it difficult to sell. So give a customes a sip to tast..and next time they order a hole bottle…
I looking forward the 1000Β΄st episode..

Glad to see a tour of how Wine Library is behind closed doors. It looks to be a rather busy place with boxes all over the place, everywhere and anywhere it can fit. It's also quite a tightly knitted group of people though probably tightly knitted due to the limited areas.

QotD: Last thing to bring thunder, I can't recall off of the top of my head at the moment.

  • BFR1028

Mike Rowe Probly gets paid a lot though….and he doesnt have to keep them for more than a day!

  • CharlieTN

QOTD: Last night my girlfriend and I cooked some mussels in Riesling, then served them with olive bread. It brought mega thunder.

Definitely going to look out for both the wines on the show today. Hell of an episode.

  • My thunder? A year ago I threw a huge wine tasting bash at my house. Got help from a couple of wino friends since I didn't know much. Total thunder!

After that, I sought more venues to learn and enjoy wine. Went weekly to our great wine store for their Saturday tastings. Wanted more. Discovered Gary! Couldn't find a wine group to join, so I started my own! Following the book “Great Wines Made Simple” by Andrea Immer Robinson, I have a group over once a month to learn about and taste wines she outlines in each chapter. As I select the wines and write up my notes, I am learning so much. We have such a blast at these wine tastings. Once again, total thunder!

Having my second annual big wine tasting this weekend. I can't wait!!!! The theme is Old World/New World. Had trouble finding a white burgundy to serve. Wish I had seen this episode sooner!!!

  • QOTD: Last night, I joined Team In Training, the fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. I’ll be in Tahoe June 6th for a 100 mile ride-“America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride”. I’ve got 16 weeks to raise $4,900…and lose about 49 pounds! To hit this, I’m going to be brining thunder, DAILY, for the next four months! http://bit.ly/bib0rk

  • NC_Carl

I brought the thunder with a spicy soba noodle salad with peanut dressing last night. Paired with bergstrom pinot, b/c I was out of gewurtz…not too shabby.
