Where can we get it Vayniacs?

QOTD: Had a great “Cousins” dinner out at a Thai Restaurant and discovered the 2000 Riesling I had cellared was as fresh as could be, 10 years later. Next day, educated them on Washington State and Portuguese wines.

  • aeo2164

Now that is some thunder. Haha

  • NY Pete

    where's Tim F ?

  • aeo2164

I love spaghetti. Especially with homemade sauce. Also, there are some on the gourmet library site that aren't to shabby either. I recommend the Sauteed Onions and basil. It brings definite thunder. πŸ˜€

GARY! I WANT TO GO CAMPING AND FISHING WITH YOU! those are two of my favorite things : )

QOTD: went home and surprised my mom

Vaynernation, anyone else passionate about fishing?

  • carlo10

oh and last night i made steelhead with couscous, bread, balsamic and EVOO and a great bottle of some syrah (cant remember what it was though, sorry guys)

I don’t think I like the half point thing. They only score most wines between 85 and 100. That makes it a 15 point scale. Then they make it a 30 point scale by adding half points. Next we’ll be hearing about a 90 minus and it will be a 60 point scale and on and on. Where is SS Chris?

  • Great ep! I had a great Saint Veran about 9 months ago…where did I put that label? I miss the smells of the '80s sometimes. White erasers rocked…for the record, I didn't eat that paste, though that smell was cool too. CapriSun is mighty tasty.

QOTD: Going to mirror DPnCali on the gift-giving. Last time I brought the thunder was during the holidays…one diamond earring for Hanukkah, and another for her birthday. Good thing I had saved up since last year…

  • Agreed ! LOL, they so Didn't erase!

  • MegExpressions

Great show….nice to see the studio space and meet your coworkers!

  • πŸ˜‰

  • I agree AllanJ πŸ™‚ so does Tyler

  • Nice to see some white burg making an appearance.

QOTD: Exceeding my gym goals in every category so far this year.

  • I'm with MegExpressions, I liked seeing the office and staff. Cool stuff!

I brought the thunder a few weeks ago when I spoke at a friend's book launch, but the REAL thunder came from my 4 year-old daughter and 20 month-old son came when we played Hide-n-Seek tonight. DUDE! I could NOT find my son (my wife did thank god) and could NOT hide from my daughter! Talk about Thundercats!

  • Almost forgot…loved the white erasers. Had a Seattle Seahawks eraser. As the future owner, it is one of my fonder school supply memories…

Decided in Aug 08 that I had to follow my passion to be happy. Went to culinary school. Now work at one of the nicest restaurants in the country, working my ass off, learning a lot, and moving up the ranks. At only 22 yrs old, quickly becoming a force within my place of business. Can't complain about that!

That would bring the bigass thunder!

  • Hey Pete, I just wanted to say thnx man, seriously! period!

  • NY Pete

just keep bringing the thunder … πŸ™‚

Where in the world is Gary Vaynerchuk

  • TheWinedown

We totally need more of these field trips around WL! It was awesome to see some of the office, esp for someone who's not in the NJ area. Give us some more!

  • johnboston

wow, a wine with some heat that you absorb as fantastic and delicious…and preferring it chilled… damn. out of left field today….
QOTD: Along the same lines as aeo2164 – Brought the thunder with my brothers from the Army in Iraq – all but one of us is thankfully back home as of August of '09.

  • I did, I watched the whole before starting looking for it, and yet no link. perhaps I have to get rid of all my different blockers πŸ™‚

  • http://www.beltramos.com or http://www.bedfordwines.com maybe but it seems like that Winelibray is the only one in US and since it was on the show they had less then 10 cases

the only other dealer I found is http://www.weinhandlung-drexler.de (with world wide delivery)

  • it’s a winelibrary!

  • Never had a bad St Veran. Still remember the first one, just a random bottle I took home after a fundraiser. Took me awhile to realize that it was just a different take on chardonnay.

Q: decided to take a 45-degree career shift and become a CKC again.

  • kkellic

Ok, Question, Is it the quality of the wine that makes it smell like Vinegar? I have been trying different wines and Have not always been a fan of reds…They have always had such a strong vinegar smell….. Last night I actually took the jar of vinegar and a glass of Petite Sirah and the smell was so similar??? Please let me know!! I am anxious to learn and want to know what that is, if it's normal….Etc….THANKS ALL! I will also try to teach my pallet!

  • NY Pete

    he's lurking … LOL

  • Bellissimo

QOTD? Does this have to be rated PG13? Oh wait, my spouse is calling me up to bed. Gotta go.

  • mattgmann

I've never had st veran. My woman tends to turn her nose up at chardonnay, maybe I can sneak one under the radar.

As for thunder, I used to be a forward air controller, so I brought it in the form of 500lbers. That was 5 years ago though. I brought the thunder at a dinner party over the weekend with an amazing korean bbq, homemade kimchi, oysters, and a wine selection that turned out amazing. Started with some cotes du rhone rose (jaboulet parrellel 45), moved on to some sav blacs for dinner(an interesting wine called pomelo, and a chilean sav blanc), then a Cotes Du Ventoux that blew my mind (2003 domaine de la bastidonne), and once we were all nicely toasted a few more cheap cotes du rhones and a carmenere. I couldn't tell you if the last bottles were decent, but the Cotes Du Ventoux after dinner was other wordly.

Loved the field trip around WL, be nice to actually get a full tour sometime…. in person or video would be cool too! Chardonnay does get such a bad rap from those Oak Monster's when it can be such a fantastic wine, obviously from this episode. The last time I brough the thunder when I found a red wine that mom enjoyed that she had several glasses…. I love that statisfaction that comes from when you find that perfect bottle for someone looking for something tasty to go with dinner or just on its own. Especially when it changes their opinion about a stereotypical thought about some type of wine, like Chardonnay for example. There is such a wide range of tastes.

  • KnightWKNF

Love fishing, living up the block from a lake and having a canoe is definitly a big plus! Any good fishing stories on your end?

  • Michael C in MKE

I like seeing the camera break out of the room.

  • johnboston

JT – For some reason I had to look your profile up b/c you look about 90 years old with that picture of you shrunk to this size, and I was wondering how such a geriatric old man had such young kids… but that's just the picture-shrink-effect and you're not. I discovered you have “logged over 1,500 hours and made 5 deployments in support of Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom” as a pilot, and I am honored to say THANK YOU! Best of luck with Shift of Momentum. It is a most worthy enterprise and you've definitely earned that luck.

  • mattgmann

    FISHING!

I actually have a small fly fishing business. Mostly production fly tying, and now we're branching into merchandise. Fly fishing is basically my life. But I have to say, whiskey is my drink of choice while enjoying the outdoors. A flask goes a lot farther on a trip than a wine bottle.

  • sashanyc

Nice head to head.. I'll be looking for some of these smaller producer St veran wines, very soon.. WL already sold out of course.

QOTD: I brought Thunder @ my wedding 2 weeks ago.. it was an amazing weekend!

  • Thanks for the tour guys, and thanks for giving me another Chardonnay to look for…since I tend to usually lok the other way. Just not into the buttered oak style, so I have found a few Italians that were crisp, and another Spanish chard in a blend with Macabeo.

QOTD: Rode down to Rhode Island yesterday with my neighbor and wine making buddy to meet his son-in-law and his wine club at the Capital Grille…I figued it was basically a local club of 40-50 people, and it was, but they had a presenter and I got to meet Carlos Figueroa who is the importer for the Von Siebenthal wines from chile (been a big fan of the Carabantes Syrah) as well as Las Perdices from Mendoza. Excellent guy, very friendly and knowledgeable, and he brings in some great wines. Gave me an honest analysis of the 2009 Carmenere we made.

  • cdncartman

Gary & Mott…if you're going to move around my wife asks that you get a camera with some kind of stabilizer…whoa mama.

QOTD: Opened a bottle of Lafarge Meurseault 2004 tonight with some king crab legs…and what can i say…it definitely brought the thunder. very happy that I have 2 more bottles in the cellar..but wish it was more. Very neat that tonights episode was a white burg episode….will be looking for that one bottle Gary was raving about.

Gary…next time you do an episode on burgundy, make sure you give a perspective on how small the area truly is. I was amazed at how me and my wife could bike from Beaune to Puligny Montratchet in 30-40 mins. I don't think people that havent been lucky enough to visit the area truly understand how small the area really is.

    Keep up the good work

Love the linking of past related episodes! I am a lurker no more πŸ™‚

QOTD: Bringing the thunder…saying that reminds me of how we in CA use the word “awesome” too much. Look up the real meaning of “awesome”. If we really used that word correctly, it would only happen a couple of times in our life! So the last time a moment/event brought the “thunder” was when I landed a job with the Govt of Japan and beat out about 250+ other candidates involving a year long application process. That was some serious thunder. And yes, the moment I received my offer letter in the mail, was…awesome.

  • winecrazy

I see Brandon wasn't working on getting me my emails……..maybe Ian was?? But in any event I am out of the loop and I am not getting them so……here I am again in the 200's

QOTD: The last thing I did that brought thunder was buy 101 crush it books. But….What I got back from that was being deleted off the email list, being skipped over on the thank you swag gift box like some other book buyers got which I was emailed and apprised of way back in Nov-Dec that I would get but never received and….well…..let's just say, I'm still showless… πŸ™

And still need a signed book to Steve…..so let me know when I can come in and get that Homey.

    Thanks

  • Does it count if my white eraser was Hello Kitty? I remember liking the smell so much that I bit one in half. I HAVE to get this wine.

  • teckdeck2008

Qotd: This is going to sound lame, but me and one my best friends kind of had some complications recently due a combination of having an angry sister, jealous boyfriend, etc. and for the first time this last wednesday we hung with out having any drama involved. I feel like it brought some balance back to my life and truth be told it 'brought the thunder.'

  • stancolts_2010

    Gary,
I love it when you are excited about what you are tasting. Saint Veran is great as you said when you get into small producers. The run of the mill stuff will not bring the thunder. Q.O.T.D. It involved my wife. 'nuf said. By the way, a lot of your viewers care about the Colts and Saints. You should be cheering for the team that had the skills to beat yours. Right? Move on dude. LOL… Great show.

  • aaroncello

    QOTD:
I made some incredibly good macaroni and cheese. It was actually penne and cheese. But it was friggin' delicious. Made a bΓ©chamel, had some onions and a little garlic, added some cheddar and jarlsburg, and parm reggiano, mixed it with some penne, covered it with a little more parm, broiled it till Golden Brown and Delicious.
Or maybe played well on a concert recently with miami symphony.

  • Anonymous

Ok, I admit….who cares is a little strong. It’s just hard to be as pumped up for the game when your team comes so close and squanders their chance. I gotta admit Peyton is the man! Go Colts!

  • Good show, thanks for the link.
    QOTD: Tonight
