Stonking episode…GV at his best. What a view from his NY apartment and a glimpse of Micha. But the highlight for me was the surprise at 2.55…I’m still laughing about it now.

Mott's avatar is Bender Bending Rodriguez? Awesome!

  • Great showing…my cellar is still pretty young and Bordeaux weak, only a handful of bottles from the 2005. We'll see how things go this year, and if anyone will be moving things that they have been sitting on.
To your great credit, you caught the mis-pour…that's why you are the man.
Misha is a beauty…she must get her looks from her mother.
I'm jealous of the snow, and so are my back-country skis…you could build a snowman on your balcony!
QOTD: Coffee/Hot Cocoa blend with a shot of nice amaretto.

  • jsums

Ha! The Mishanator makes an appearance! Awesome. Fun show. Not really feeling the Bordeaux lately, but I think it's a phase. QOTD – On a really snowy day, a bomb-ass slutty Spanish or Australian Grenache that has no balance, yet just ruins me with its lusciousness. Will she respect me in the morning? Can I look myself in the mirror after? No. But I just don't care.

It's funny that before watching this episode, I was thinking about that one episode where your father had spat the wine on your rug in your office. Then, upon watching this episode, I see you doing it in your own house though to be fair its outside.

QotD: Don't have a favorite thing to drink during the summer as whatever I have queued up on my bottles of wine to taste.

One last note, thanks for giving a tiny glance into your collection with you drinking two bottles from it. Shows just how far you've really been collecting and how serious the wines you have.

@GaryV, my question to you is, how many bottles do you have in your collection?

  • Q: Hot chocolate by day, Madiran by night.

  • Moselman

Thanks for introducing us to your little sweetie, Gary!

QOTD: For apres-ski, sadly just a memory now. Big mug half full of steaming coffee, coupla glugs of Grand Marnier, whipped cream and swirl of chocolate syrup.

  • SourGrapesFC

Eagle Rare Bourbon or Hot Chocolate… but it's hard to beat a hot cup of joe

  • “IT is jerkoff!” by far my favorite line in the year+ I've been following (or lurking)

  • QOTD: I love some Naughty Nogg (named it myself-tooting my own horn) It's eggnog, whisky or rum, kahlua, and a dab of chocolate syrup.

  • mxcnmrcnzrr

I vary between three things for snowy days. Hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps. Mexican hot chocolate (“Abuelita” is fine”), Atole a sort of Mexican tea I suppose made with Mexican or Ceylon cinnamon, piloncillo (you can substitute dark brown sugar or light brown sugar, not the same) and corn tortilla dough to thicken it a bit. btw throw some chocolate in the atole and you have champurrado. I guess I vary between four drinks then.

  • ONUMello

Always enjoy seeing AJV & of course Misha!
QOTD Normally I'd say a big red, of course, but tonight I had a nice glass of bourbon with the snow outside here & it was heavenly.

  • awesome hulu sweatshirt.

  • Michael D

QOTD: Coffee with Bailey's Irish Creme.

  • Well it’s your fault, really. The big climate meeting i Copenhagen! Dindn’t it ended the 17 th? Mother nature said, I’ll give them something to ponder about , πŸ™‚

  • Thnx πŸ™‚

  • why not James May instead πŸ˜€

  • alexofla

Gary, great show as always, thx for letting us into your home and sharing great wines from your cellar.

  • winecrazy

I loved those wines. I used to drink them when I was 25.

QOTD: I love Sang or Syrah when I'm doing some snow blowing here smokin my cigar. I had an Arthur Murray Sangiovese 2005 yesterday had to do the snw 5 times. I have parking here at my houose for 19 cars so you can imagine how long it takes. Three cigar day and a two bottle day as well. Had a 2005 Pax Syrah CuvΓ©e Keltie which was very good. Yummy infact!! The I made the Bolognase for 4 hours all day……you had to try it Homey!!!

  • Misha is too cute! Lovin' the FlipCam Video…

QOTD: As many before had mentioned, Irish Coffee w/ Jameson during the day…at night…probably a robust red wine or a russian imperial stout.

  • It was great to see your daughter. They grow up so fast so cherish the moments.

  • quentinbacon

Gary, Loved the book, loving the show even more. I'm building a new business, crushing some serious hours. I've got you on my third computer monitor at night. You keep me going. Thanks! Quentin Bacon

  • Duncan9idaho

QOTD- I love cracking some of my aged Belgian Quads or American Barleywines but a good Vintage port is hard to beat.

  • FullOnNelson

Loved the “family” view. It shows who you really are. Good showing of Bordeaux. People need to buy more of it early on and let it age. Then we too can full out a 1995 bottle and spit it into the snow. πŸ˜‰

  • I was hoping you'd show your little Mish when you first said something about her early on in this episode πŸ™‚ Great show. I wish I could afford one of those Bordeauxs!

QOTD: It doesn't snow here in Los Banos, Cali – but about 30 minutes away in the “hills” it does. ;-/

  • @garyvee and all visitors – I also got a snow episode about me & wine:
    pls check out >

    http://blog.herrenhof.net

(now we have about 60cm of snow)

  • Loved seeing your baby girl! Thanks so much.

QOTD: Tea, British style. Tea steeping for 3 mins, THEN cream and sugar. Trust me, there's a difference.

QotD: Spanish hot chocolate (bitter, thickened with corn starch)…how come such a hot place has so many good cold-weather drinks?

  • NIB

What a classic episode, and Misha is so damn cute!

    QOTD:Rumplemintz peppermint patties(Hot chocolate and 100 proof Rumplmintz schnapps)…Yummmmy

  • QOTD: sounds a bit strange but love velvety peppery Pinot Noir on a cold day – some favs from Santa Cruz Mtns (Bruce) and Oregon (Sineann)

  • keithnicholson

Dude.. that is sooo real. i love it. yes you slipped up,but your palate caught it, and hey wtf..
    keep it real!

  • Great show Gary, love to see little Mish πŸ™‚

    @QOTD
I'm all about aged Aglianicos with this weather. We hat a 1995 Feudi di San Gregorio “Serpico” yesterday. Fab stuff!

  • LonelyGrape

QOTD – It does not snow where I am but when it gets cold I would go for a Liquor Muscat from Rutherglen.

  • winestein99

port, tawny, no more than 20 year though.

  • Waits

That would also be extremely cooool! Actually let’s get both of them, while we’re at it. ; )

  • Waits

Lars LΓΈkke is a dork! You’re absolutely right LOL ; )

CJ, my brother lives in Waco…way too rural for me. I have tried a bunch of ports, check out my site http://www.winelx.com and put port in the search section. Happy Drinking!

    Unrelated comment ahoy!

Last night, I grabbed a petit verdot at the local PA wine “emporium” (gah) randomly, because I remembered you raving about both petit verdot and Australian wines. (I got this one: http://corkd.com/wine/view/73940-2006-de-bortoli-vat-4-petit-verdot ) It was really exciting to pick a wine that was okay. (I’m in the CCC so wine is still a little hit-or-miss for me.)

It went well with really spicy Indian food, too. Yum.

Thanks for rooting for the little guy (Australian wines and petit verdots), Gary.

  • nice show gary, beautiful daughter…
and this episode reminds when I came to NY last October, dreaming to come back again there…
Next time I'll surely come to WL, would be great to buy a bottle as a great memory of the journey…

QOTD: A nice earthy Grenache-based Rhone.

For the Golden Spitting Awards I vote GV
for the Golden Wine Taster Awards category Extreme conditions i Vote GV
