Stonking episode…GV at his best. What a view from his NY apartment and a glimpse of Micha. But the highlight for me was the surprise at 2.55…I’m still laughing about it now.

It’s ok for a cheap bubbly, but you loose all the fine points of a good champagne when you dump oj in it.

  • Anonymous

    Citarella steaks?

  • Anonymous

I think somebody spelled it wrong.

  • Im glad I did because otherwise….the show would be in trouble 🙂

  • Richie

Oh my god. Your daughter is really cute Gary!
QOTD: Well there are several things. Dark beer, big red wines, cognac or a nice big mug of hot chocolate or green tee.

  • Riverinon

    Steady on Richie!

  • Anonymous

I’d love to try that. How much?

  • Anonymous

I agree. Bud anything in the same sentence will get you a sentence!

  • Wil Frykman

QOTD: A glass(es) of Port next to a crackling fireplace.

  • allanj

Tom Waits is also one my absolute heroes… Favourite album “Rain Dogs”.
All good music, like wine evolves over time and becomes better with age. ; )

  • allanj

How about that Mott-cam, mr. V?

  • ewb

Good show Gary. You are not a jerk-off! So what about the mix up.

  • gubbiotti

HA! i am listening to rain dogs right now…. classic.
there is something about tom and cold weather

  • Great show Gary, and great view.

QOTD: We don't get any snow here in Queensland but my favourite drink on a cold night (i.e. 12C!) is anything red with a good amount of sour / acid / bite. Failing that, Scotch and ice.

PS: Is Mott out of a job?

  • Gary another great show! Your daughter is adorable. Thank you for bringing us into your home and sharing your family with us.

QOTD: I live in Texas, south Texas at that, so it doesn't get too cold here. I can honestly say my wife and I enjoy a good Margarita on a chilly day; we just opt for the rocks instead of the frozen.

  • Maybe blending is the new chic?

How about a Beaucastel 1990 blended with a Beaucastel 2003? Could be cool HUH?

  • At $23 I've been enjoying the 08 Dominio IV Love Lies Bleeding pinot from oregon. Haven't tried any of their other wines.

  • I thought this turned into a special 3D show when you spit at the camera.

My friends and I did a mulled wine about a half a month back rocked it with some eggnog ice cream that was a heart warmer.

Is there enough snow on your deck to make a big snow wine bottle then throw some red Christmas lights around it.

And I saw you in what I believe was “web designer” looked like a cool spread. Keep up the good shit.

  • allanj

“Will i see you tonight, on a downtown train…”

  • JimmyBill

Gary, you never cease to amaze me! With your personality, every show is fun and entertaining! What a blast!
QOTD: I've found (here in mid-Michigan), I like a sweet white wine during a hard snow fall.
    BLESSINGS!!!

  • jayhitek

QOTD: I would with wine. In Mass we get a lot of snow as well and after I finish snow blowing the driveway and hunker in for the day, I thin it could either be coffee with a splash of whiskey or hot cocoa with a splash of whiskey. Or wine. FOr some reason I never enjoy a beer after coming in from the cold or a mixed drink. So it's either wine or spiked coffee/cocoa.

As far as I know it is not available in the states. I acctually got it in Scottland. I am sure you could get it online. I thin I paied 190 US for it, but it might have been even more than that, I had about 5 or 6 others scotches before I got that one.

Mr Burns looks a little washed out but it’s a good one. Tx for the info on TW. I saw him live with the Kronos quartet. When he did Gods away on business the crowd went wild. My GF even enjoyed it.

    sembri proprio un idiota

  • steven

No Andrea, e solo un po pazzo

  • sergelaporte

it should be spelled “snaux” like in “faux” if you want to create an accurate french sounding play on words .. 🙂 I should know, I am french

  • Great show! When you mentioned the pencil shavings it took me back to my elementary school days spending time at the pencil sharpener because it would give us an opportunity to get up and walk a little during class (and of course do something mischievous on the way back to my desk).

QOTD in 3 parts – This morning upon waking to a cold Iowa winter morning with a boiler on the fritz thus a cold house… I decided to reach over and finish off a bottle of Domaine Du Grapillon D'or Gigondas and found it considerably more enjoyable than the night before.

With all the mention of Tom Waits I was reminded of some chilly and snow filled days across Indiana and Ohio. I was doing hard labor on the Rockies Express pipeline belting out the Heart of Saturday Night album in the middle of frozen fields South of Indy and then North of Cincinnati. When returning to my home away from home after those cold 12 hour days at work I thoroughly enjoyed some Sharecropper Cabernet.

Finally, my staple for cold hard snowy days this year has been some good rich hot chocolate with the base components being 6 oz of half and half to 1 oz of Omanhene 80% cocoa content chocolate and a teaspoon or two of dark muscovado sugar.

  • Thanks!

  • Hello Smithers…! uh sorry johnfarrin. Just wanted to tell you that Allanj is now only Allan & Mr. Burns has come on strong…. What ya think?

  • That’s cool enough, my man. I’ve changed my name and avatar… so you know

  • Hey You!

Allanj is now only Allan… I’m sorry. And Mr. Burns is on the prowl now.

  • Jergie

QOTD If you come in from working in the snow…blowing snow, shoveling snow, splitting wood, etc. then an ice cold beer hits the spot. Otherwise, just chillin by the fire on a wintery day……Big red wine or a single malt. Thanks Gary V! You Rock!

  • howardhewitt

You have to like the big reds in cold/snowy weather. It was 4 degrees in Indiana this morning. The other night, with snowfall, had Klinker Brick's Old Ghost Zin – rockin Zin for mid $30s!

  • Hey there Mr. Burns callin’….

No it’s only me Allanj, which is now only Allan if that’s OK with you. Are you diggin’ the new avatar (NO not the movie) ; = )

  • TommyB

Just to let you know – yes, you did pour the Pape Clements! What was the QOTD? Oh well, Micha's a little cutey!

  • castello

Tom Waits is the Man! I don't think I've heard much of Rain Dogs but I will seek it out. I got hooked on him after the double live album and wore it out 20 years ago.

  • castello

We will often blend two similar wines together to see what happens.

  • LeatherLeatherPalate

Back in the good old days there would be NO Hat!!

    Great show.

  • Thanks castello! ; )
What do you think about my new avatar?

If you are new to Tom Waits (which i don't suspect) Closing Time is your album. The place to start…. because from there on, it's a rugged road.!

Rain Dogs is from 1985, a good vintage. If you buy Rain Dogs, also tjeck out Swordfishtrombones & Frank's Wild Years. Also truly best of Waits.

  • Just Jack

Instant classic! It was in the running for a top 10 spot to begin with and then the messed up pour and the catch rocketed it up into the top 5.

Taylor port on a winter day my friends. Nothing beats it. Hand ground hot cocoa comes close, but good port wins by a hair.

  • zrm

Love the epis out in the Snuax

QOD: Hot Toddy. I make mine with black tea lemon honey and brandy. Delicious! Best way to survive the snow

  • looper1313

    Great Show!
Little Mich makes an appearance… growing up fast!

QOTD: I always like amarone when its cold. Seems kind of the equivalent to drinking a guiness. Its almost like a meal and a drink!
Wish I was ballin like GV and could drink $200 worth of bordeaux on every snowy day! Wines showed well!

  • looper1313

Wow. Great insight, really paints a picture.
Hotcocoa tv. com in your future. That hot chocolate sounds great!

  • Cool_Dave

Thanks. French pronunciation is difficult for many Americans. Don't let anyone give you any crap for correcting them. I actually want to learn new things and encourage correction when I am doing something wrong.

  • Thnx so much Jimmy!

  • I'm with you on Qotd, Amarone is E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T. I like Le Ragose. Top 10 Amarone producer, the standard amarone is G-R-E-A-T. Seek it out.

We would all like to high-roll like Dr. V. ; )

  • Phil G

Love the snaux. I always love snow storms bacuase it means time home with family – looks like some of the Vayner-clan was hanging out in NYC…

QOTD – somthing hot like tea or hot chocolate are good. wine, of course, is always an option…

  • Hi, all you Vay-Ni-Acs!

Chaning my name from Allanj to Allan. Changing from nothing to Mr. Burns. Thank you. Still the same….

    E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T! Bring on the Torbreck…….

  • Krunch

Watched your Video, Very good. look forward to visiting now and then.
