Stonking episode…GV at his best. What a view from his NY apartment and a glimpse of Micha. But the highlight for me was the surprise at 2.55…I’m still laughing about it now.

Didn’t he say he was going to put a cork in the wines and go over to Citarella’s(large gourmet grocery specialty store) and buy some steaks to throw on the grill?

  • Watch that you don't mix those two…

  • LOL, you rat!

  • robbymac

  • SS_Chris

    MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH !!!!!!

  • Torbreck GSM 2006. Nice wine, a bit of cherry on the nose, followed by a load of strawberry and delicate fruit. Still liqourice & pepper comin' on as well. Very smooth wine, which will appeal to alot of Vayniacs out there. Price OK. Must be about 20 bones tops in US. Solid 88+ wine. Delicious.

I have gone full out tonite…. Finishing with a Champagne. De L' Abbatiale brut, which is quite good… La Grand Dame is better, but for that price…? I don't know? (maybe 30 bones, The Dame is way more)

Nice lime and apple coming through on the nose. Almonds, Toast & Cinnamon. Simple. Basic. A solid 89 p. Which is not bad, by my standards…. ; )

  • Marcipan like…. Bubbly Is GOOD!

  • castello

Love a good Sansonnet on a cold morning. Specially when they spell Garys name wrong.

  • Oh Man! The champagne went all wrong… forgot to mention the producer….

    Locret-Lachaud. Sorry ; )

Well we all make mistakes, just look at Mr. V ; ) LOL

  • That'll be like alot then…..! Jerry, Gerry, The Oak Monster….? Try the Mets..

  • Mr. Castello. How's it goin' ?

  • castello

I'm doing good. did G forget to tell us what we're drinkin on the laid back couch? Let's get it on!

  • Hopefully it will happen…. But what could it be…. Hopefully some Rioja…. I'm in the mood for some rioja, well spanish wine i mean…. Oh And Oz Clarke. (The man just gets me in the mood. i Don't know?)

Where are you from castello? How Old/Young?

    Prediction: NY / 55

    How did I do?

I'm just being a snoop now i guess, but let time pass….. Mr. V.. We're ready now!

  • lawrenceleichtman

We have so many snowy days in Santa Fe that it is whatever I have, nothing special about snow days. By the by, since you like Petit Verdot have you tried the Michael David Petite Petit?

  • cubs2806

Great show Gary, have been on vacation but have been watching just not commenting.
QOTD:A red wine, a syrah or cab. if not wine bourban

  • JiminAtlanta

My favorite wine on a cold day is port. We had snow today so it is cold in hotlanta. A big red wine is also good.

  • wizzardsblog

Another great episode, sorry I missed the QOTD. I don't mind the cold, just don't like the snow. I always end up falling over.

  • JohnsGSD

Another classic episode in the snow G! I was wondering if you were going to catch yourself pouring the Pape Clement, lol.

It's interesting that you scored the 01 Pichon Lalande 90+ when you previously scored it 94+ way back on episode 301 (Aug 2007). Do you think your palate has changed since then? Or has the wine changed that dramatically? Makes one wonder a bit on how much credence we should be putting on scores…

QOTD: Back in the day when I lived up north, if it was snowing, I was out skiing as a kid. So that meant hot chocolate and grilled cheese sandwiches.

    Have a good holiday weekend!

    John D.

  • Don Simpson

The shows on your balcony are great.

QOTD: Gary, you've totally got me on the Italian white wine train!!! So far during the blizzards: Vermentino, Vernaccia, and Fallanghina. I've also been enjoying a few reds (Vacqueras and Rioja) and having a Barbaresco tomorrow night.

  • Don Simpson

    Lil Mish is ridiculously CUTE!!!!

  • oleggant

I don t understand, how you can pure one wine in to a glace with previous wine, mix it, taste it and tell something about new wine taste? Or is it a new tasting method? (min 9 or 10 on video)
But I love your Wine TV)

  • ChrisR00

QOTD: Hot chocolate or tea. Wine-wise, I'd go with something that's got heavy viscosity, like a syrupy ruby port.

  • Anonymous

    Awesome.

Sent from my NSA brain implant.

  • ben from boston

    hot chocolate and or vodka

  • teckdeck2008

Qotd: coffee is great when its cold; sometimes i'll do tea or hot cocoa though because i can't have more than a couple cups of coffee a day. it works out because i'm trying to get into tea anyways.

  • aarontewalt

    Hot Cocoa

  • hollisdevillo

    yay, snow show. woot woot.

qotd. hot chocolate. which seems to be the favorite.

  • Mike in C-town

GV, should have gotten after that house before taking us in.

QOTD: This will be odd, but water. If I've been outside shoveling, I'm thirsty! If I'm in, then hot tea during the day, a Spanish red in the eves.

Send some of that snaux up to Hongcouver.

  • spero

NZ Martinborough Atta Rangi Sav Blanc while cross country skiing. From the wine sack. You get the citrus fruit without having to carry it.
Tommasi Amarone, which I ineffectively describe as a cross between a cab and a porto, with manchego and piave cheeses by the fire.

Like to see Gary try a Shardana from Sardinia, never tasted anything like it.

  • thubten

    Gaaary:

When you are tasting french wines you need to distinguish better the bretti wild yeast flavor that us CA folk hate. I have a real sensitivity to the wild yeast flavors. In a word nasty.

  • boughtrecords

I've only had a few 95's but the ones I have had were from all over and it seems to me that that was a good year globally for wine.

  • TLT

freakin awesome show bordeaux rules dont even try to step to it GARY awesome job cant get enough of you or sasha much love

  • Gary the snow-show was kick-ass goodness….

    Nice spit-bucket! ; )

    LOL

Misha is a cutie-pie, you lucky devil.

  • YoungDave

Fantastic to have another NYC apartment episode- it's been a while, my friend.

Aged Bordeaux…what can we say- the only way to drink the better efforts from this region; after a few years of age!!!

QOTD: Snowy day? Gotta be a richer, maybe even over-the-top, hedonistic So. Cal Syrah or big ol' domestic Cabernet, or even a rich Nebbiolo from Piemonte (either Barolo of Barbaresco). This may be the only time that I enjoy the over-the-top fruit bombs, but I can always enjoy a well-made, 5+ year-old Barolo or Barbaresco.

  • bobjenson

GV normally pours the new wine into the glass then empties it, then pours the same new wine (which now has no trace of the old wine) into the glass.

  • bobjenson

QOTD: A glass of (hopefully full) single malt Whiskey, preferable Glenmorangie.

By the way, I'd just like to say thanks for this show. Even though I can't order from your store to New Zealand (well, I guess the shipping would kill it), I'm learning a lot about wine. I used to only drink really big wines but I'm now trying other grape varieties such as Pinot Noir.

    Cheers,
    Bob.

  • Nice show and great spitbucket, hehe.

QOTD: Either a whiskey or a glass of matured Bordeaux. Let's say Lagavulin 16yo.

  • Yeah, it’s nice to watch the snow fall and drink some nice port wine. But I’m really looking forward to summer! =)

  • Yep, no global warming here…yet

  • varanus

Eggnog, with a hit of bourbon.

  • robrx

Love your apartment Gary, balcony is great!

QOTD–Eggnog fresh made with eggs from the farmer near my home and a good dark rum.

  • Thanks looper1313, this year I’ll be opening a drinking establishment in Grand Rapids, MI and I have definitely been exploring pumping out some content.
