  • CONGRATS MAMA AND PAPA VAYNERCHUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally LOVED the '08 Crios De Susana Balbo Torrontes I've had. LOVED IT!

QOTD: The age of a beautiful women that I know 😉

  • Jacqueline

I *love* this grape. I completely adored the 07 Santa Julia from Argentina a couple years ago – floral-viscous-juicy-peachy goodness. Haven't loved a wine as much since. Looking forward to trying these.

    35 = 7 x 5

  • Pat__B

Gary, appreciate you taking the time to thank your parents. Good job.

    QOTD: 35 = Middle age

Love to see an episode forthcoming with the Mottster and his favorite wines….

  • It's meh…

  • Sarah

Great episode! I LOVE Bit-O-Honey……Torrontes isn't bad either. The Crios was my first example of the grape.

    QOTD: nothing really

  • KnightWKNF

Great show love Torrontes. I once heard that this grape was actually a cross between the mission grape and the muscat grape anyone else hear differently or the same thing?

QOTD: nothing really comes to mind

  • torrontes.. Another one to put on my list.. Never had a bottle. Some good reviewing for sure.. old school as you said… Congrats on your folks for 35 years.. mine made it 20 but have a great relationship now divorced..
QOTD: 35 half of 70. don't ask why that's what comes to mind.. I don't know.

  • ONUMello

QOTD: nothing comes to mind for 35.

  • O'Shea

35 = The minimum age (in years) of candidates for election to the position of President of the United States.

  • John Rogers

Never had a Torrontes but will look around for the La Yunta. 35years together great and I wish them many more happy years.

QOTD: I was 35 when I graduated from college. A bit of a late bloomer along with help from the GI bill.

  • MooseSox

QOTD: How about Jets No. 35, Billie Joe.

  • winecrazy

    Happy Anniversary Sasha!!!!!!

QOTD: “35” ……That's about how many boxes of Cuban Cigars I have at any giving time in my humidor. Better yet, that's about how many cigars I smoke a week…lol

Maybe I should change my name to CigarCrazy…??? Nah…I'll keep it the way it is.

  • boechio

Great show, love Susana's wines. Should try Brioso, it is a great experience!!!

  • drew82

QOTD: Immediately after you asked the question I thought of Reggie Lewis. Promising young Celtics guard who collapsed on the court and died far, far younger than anyone deserves. His number is retired on the same banner as Bird, McHale and the Chief.

I've been disappointed with the Torrontes I've had (only a handful). They seemed a bit weak, and had serious trouble containing the alcohol, even when the percentage was low. Maybe it's just not my grape, maybe I got some bum bottles. I'll try a few more and hope it gets better.

  • jtp375

    Happy 35th Mr. & Mrs. V.

Hmm………..nothing REALLY comes to mind for 35.

Torrontes is a new one to me. Learned something new again. Will
look for it it the future.

And a KILLER deal on Cindy, GV!!!

  • FullOnNelson

The number 35 is the age I will be in 5 years from tomorrow (2/16).

Just bought two copies of Crush It after watching the Brooklyn Brewery Episode (along with Garrett's book and a book by the owners for my brother who NEEDS to start his own brewery).

I almost went Cindy today. But I've got to say, I hate waiting for the damn FedEx man to come to my door.

    Does anyone else agree?

  • kungfu_sage

QOTD: well I really was thinking hard and couldn't come up with anything except other numbers. 35 makes me think of 85 which makes me think of how mott pans up to the jersey every time you rate something 85. it also makes me think of 32 which makes me think of the freezing temperature of water. so instead of saying what 35 reminds me of, I'll say I recently attended my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. I was surrounded by my aunts uncles cousins brothers and sisters, and had this crazy moment where I suddenly realized that there was an entire hotel restaurant filled with people that wouldn't exist if these too people hadn't fallen in love. it was a pretty cool night.

  • Alright Gary, you got me. Been semi-lurking way too long. My first comment was back on episode 17, if you can believe that. I've been watching ever since, and am finally ready to give back 😉

  • IB71

Good show, again. I enjoy a glass of Torrentes from time to time. Alta Vista makes a reliable one. An idea for a future episode: “The aromatic varieties blind tasting”. Line up different wines (made from Torrontes, Gewürztraminer, Dry Muscat, Viognier and/or others) – and show us some blind tasting skills, Gary 🙂

Another idea: Instead of just “Argentine” I would prefer a more thorough descpription of locale: “2009 La Yunta Torrontés (Argentina, La Rioja, Famatina Valley)

  • QotD: I think of absolutely nothing. If you press the issue, I think the new I-35W bridge is pretty nice. I used to wonder as I drove over the old one about how freaky it would be if the bridge dropped into the river. It's all subconscious, but I felt safer driving across the new one.

I am still beginning my wine tour of Europe (no, I have not left the midwest), so it will be a while before I allow myself to buy South American wine. I wish I could have scrounged up some people to help me buy the three bottles of Barolo on Cinderella Wine last week sadface.

  • Nice show Gary, but personally I'm not a big fan of Torrontes at all. Tooo aromatic, just get the feeling its “fake” in a way.

    @QOTD
    *sing* in the year 3535 … 😉

Have you seen the music video on the link in today’s ep?

    Funny stuff!

It’s like Gary V always says “For my palate it’s good” You might think it taste like manure but its not very expensive so I say give it a shot

  • Congrats on your parents, Mr. V:

    I thought that your lip-syncing was i bit off Gary : (
    HaHa! ; )

  • Oooops, was tryin' to make a heart! Damn it!

  • murso

like, not love Torrontes. Like, alot, Susan Balbo wines – the next tier up is real good.

QotD – 35? wasn't Calvin Hill #35? he was one of my faves, when I was a kid. I don't even pay attention to sports, as an adult- it just ain't what it was, then…

35? I was 35 in 1996. Actually , it was a meh year, but I had some good times then, and spent 40 days in London, England, w/ my craziest of friends. Did alot of great stuff on that trip, (as all trips should be, but aren't always).

  • Rich

Happy 35th anniversary!, Mr. & Mrs. Vaynerchuk!
QOTD: $35 is the price for a pretty good bottle of wine.
(Not that you can't get a good bottle for less, or more, but $35 is a good place to be)
…and 35 is my wife's favorite number, this year. 😉

  • ErieWineGuy

I always Love your shows. I think Torrontes is a fun little wine… I always learn a lot.

Another fun little wine is a Gazella Vinho Verde. Great with shrimp on the barbie.

    But I digress…..

QOTD: A lot of honest, interesting comments. I think of the the fact that I thought that the prime of my life was between 25 and 30, then I changed that to 30 to 35(there's the 35!).

Now at 51 I realize that I am in the prime of my life, and will continue to be all the years I go along.

When you are younger, you can't imagine being in your 50's. You think, “… Boy…sorry dude, but that just really sucks for you…”.

But being over 50 and having your health like I do, is like all you 20, 30 and 40 some year olds going back to the 7th grade. How much more wisdom and life experience would you have in that situation compared to a 7th grader? You could more easily tell if someone was lying or stretching the truth to you, or you could read the pride that they had in their exploits with the girls that the had experienced, and you already knew just what things were a 7th grader's whole universe to them, that will mean little to them a few years down the road.

But you can't tell them anything………..

That's what it's like to be older. You transition from just always learning about life to understanding life, where you learn to see problems coming and learn to avoid them.

Listen to your elders!!! They are a lot smarter and wiser that you could ever imagine, and they will direct you in the right path!

Remember, your generation did not invent Life. The word changes, but every generation's reaction to it does not.

Oh well…. have a wonderful life!!!

  • Comedy gold today Gary.

    Thank you.

Am enjoying that black & green book of yours

    Thanks again.

  • Don Simpson

HAHA! Very good point! Although I haven’t had a Malbec yet I think tastes like manure, they’ve been fairly consistent quality at a great price point. Have you had the Catena Malbec? A little more expensive ($18-$20 range) but very well made, balanced, and elegant. You can tell the wine maker is a woman 🙂

Also, love your screen name, hilarious!!!

  • audiofan

Torrontes: Cool, crisp fruity, but somewhat-simple summer sipper picnic wine; nice change-up from the 'ol Sauv. Blanc, which it kinda reminds me of – style, weight, & texture wise. But then, whatta I Know?
“Daily query”: 35 is an age when life is still doing more giving, whereas 55 (my current age) is where life starts doing more takin'.
Off-the-subject by-the-way: Gary WHEN you do that “month of champagne” series you mentioned awhile back, please, PLEASE turn your viewers onto the unreal, sublime champagnes from Egly-Ouriet! Beg, steal, or borrow, any vinophile out there who professes to love the bubbles MUST taste the otherworldly wines of Egly-Ouriet.
The flagship NV Blanc des Noirs Grand Cru 'Les Crayeres' perhaps has only Krug as a rival!

  • Agnieszka

I had the Urban Torrontes last year… and it pretty much sucked. Unfortunately couldn't find an alternative to it (not many Argentinian wines available here in Spain, except for malbec), but I'll keep trying.

Happy 35th Anniversary Mrs&Mr Vaynerchuck(the lady always first). I find it awesome and really encouraging to know that two people can stay together happy so long… and longer.

QOTD: 35 – i guese the only think that comes to my mind is the birthday I'll have in a very few years from now, wondering where my life will be at 35.
    Keep up the pace,
    A

  • kasperhip

I'm really glad that you have finally started recommending cheap cucumber wines for screwing in the park. That marked has been completely untapped for quite a while now….Keep up the good work, and congrats to you parents.

  • I've been waiting for some time, Gary, to see where your palate was on the Crios Torrontes… I am a little more excited by it because it is so different from classic Torrontes (like the Yunta, which is textbook).

    QOTD: I will be 35 in 2 year's time.

  • flo

i love torrontes! congrats to your folks– mine just celebrated their 40th!

qotd: 35 is an age that is approaching all too quickly— i'm gonna be 32 in 2 weeks– yikes!

  • PaulK

OK fine Gary…no more lurking! Love the show…found it last month. Torrontes is new to me…great intro…will be shopping for it soon.

35…the number of wines I would like to taste this month.

QOTD: Can't help thinking about #35 Kevin Durant.

  • LonelyGrape

Never had Torrontes before so very interesting!

QOTD – 35 was the number worn by Rod Pope – a half back flanker with my beloved Norwood Football Club (Aussie Rules) in the late 70's.

  • Yes Yes a month of champagne!!

Welcome back! A fan such as you should, nay, MUST contribute. Your WLTV powers can be used for good, much like Garrett?s brew master powers. Relative newbies such as myself relish the opportunity to converse with veterans!

QOTD: My cousin. Should be turning 35 this year if I remember right.

I don?t know about everyone else but that type of “liking” leaves a cheap metallic flavor in my mouth, like sucking on a greasy coin. People who like just to get under Gary’s good graces are like people back in high school that used to sign everyone’s yearbook with the same generic Sh*t, just to put another notch on their socio-cultural belt. (Notice the amount of likes in this paragraph, cheap isn’t it?)

  • Jenny

Southern Wine Group (not to be confused with Southern Wine & Spirits that started up about the same time) is the importer of La Yunta: http://www.southernwinegroup.com

  • Just to emphasize my point… I just found this on youtube.

  • richritterinny

8:50-9:20 classic footage, made me LOL for real.
QOTD: 35 reminds me of Mike Augustyniak. Now Google that.

  • RocketRon

QOTD: One of my brother's favorite hockey player #35 Tony “O”.
    There not a lurker anymore.

  • hahahahaha sandalwood incencse? You are killin me Cellarrat!

  • Isn't it so that torrontes is always good price matter what quality? I can get holfd of 12 different brands at the moment and only 2 are above 10 dollars
QOTD: The last number on the lottery

  • Waits

    How’s the weather in Sweden?

And did you win the lottery?

I don’t think Mama Vaynerchuk has ever been on the show, no. He should do IT!
Now’s the time to do IT!
