  • Allan – ha, cool. I’m in the States for the first time and I’m loving how easy the street directions are to navigate!

  • Anonymous

haha…im from kc. last summer i drove from kc to minneapolis. i cant stand i35!

  • For sure hit up Spring Valley. Top to bottom, great stuff. My favorite is the Frederick.

While you're there, say what's up to my little bro who's finishing school at Whitman.

  • LizCol

It's good to see a Torrontes episode. I used to drink it all the time in the UK, since moving to Asia I can't find it. Maybe that will change this year.

Gary, I love the respect and admiration you have for your parents. Wishing them another 35 years of joy and love.

QOTD: The age by which I'll hopefully be settled!

  • Tim

    Hey Gary,

Great show today. Ordered my first bottle off of Winelibrary.com right after I finished watching. I haven’t got an answer for your QOTD, but I loved the message to your parents. Mine have been married 26 years and are still as lovey dovey as ever.

  • A_S

QOTD: The number 35 makes me think of…. hm… nothing I guess.

Nevertheless, nice episode! I remember the first time I tried a Torrontes.
(It was after a show Gary did about Torrontes)

  • Damn….artichoke dip and Torrontes, that sounds money. I love this grape and South America is now producing so many wines of such good quality and at such CHEAP prices, I think you could easily afford to bath in the stuff while you drink it. That's right, I want to be in a tub of Torrontes with a straw….and the artichoke dip on the side. Maybe a nice melba toast with that.

Gary, maybe you should send all the Lurkers a bottle of Urban every day until they are forced out of the dark. And great shout out to your folks. Just based off your description, I heart your Mom.

  • Life Long Lurker (L cubed) here, sorry Gary. But I'm out now.

Nice review of the La Yunta, the roll play added energy. Great shout out to the family. I got the inlaws up from Jersey right now and they are freaking with the snow were getting. Maybe we'll extent thier stay.

QOTD: 35 makes me think of 33, and I like 33, dont know why, I just do.

  • Hello cellarrat5….

I don't know. I would say that i think it's common that whites are for women, that's probably because my woman can't drink more than one glass of red wine…. and all she can say about it is that it tastes like red wine, that's all. She's not really into it. I'm a red wine man, but love Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners as well + alot of others. I still prefer reds though.
I think it's the colour…….. That's all i can help you, not much i know. Where have the lurkers all gone……?

We have a cousin in Peru who told us about pisco.

  • Welcome Back!

He should do that show, my prediction is that Zin will win! ; )

  • Right in the middle of 34 & 36! ; )

  • “You make me feel so young, you make me feel like spring has sprung…..” : )

  • What is you favourite Italian Wine?

Heard you use the term lurker= Like U Real Kind Enjoy Respect. It is a pleasure to see you bring tremendous Honor to your family Name, and dropping some sunshine in peoples lives.

  • SourGrapesFC

Nice show, Gary. I was eyeballing the Crios Torrontes last time I was at the store, so I'll probably need to pick up a bottle next time (unless I can find La Yunta, that is).

Happy Anniversary Sasha and Mrs. Vaynerchuck. 35 years is nothing to sneeze at.

qotd: since I live in Austin, I think of I-35, a nightmare of a road that heads north through Dallas, OKC and, eventually, Minneapolis.

  • yankee22

I've had a lot of the Crios, and really enjoy it. I'll have to try the La Yunta now. I prefer the camera back a little, by the way.

    QOTD: Christian Okoye

  • SourGrapesFC

He was amazing in Tecmo Bowl. Bo Jackson was the only offensive player in that game better than Okoye. Plus, I always think about him and Ronnie Lott knocking each other out cold on the field.

  • Agreed. Too much Gary.

  • Welcome to the family, bro.

  • That sounds psychedelic!!!!
wouldn't like to be there though. Sorry ; )

  • corkscrew

Congrats to Sasha and Mrs V. (Mom), many, many more. Can't say I have had many Argentina whites, mostly Spain, some good (and inexpensive) ones are: Shaya, Calina and La Cana. I will seek out the La Yunta. QOTD 35? the number of years it feels like I have been working and also the # of years it feels like I might have to continue working…so thanks Gary for making me depressed. http://www.winelx.com

  • This makes me sad. You're not alone, the Vayniacs are here…..!
    I'm here

  • wyotim

Good tasting, however I have tried the La Yunta and Crios side by side and hands down I would go with the Crios. La Yunta is too thin for a Torrontes.

Anyone else taste these side by side????????

  • corkscrew

CR5, I believe that many women have misconceptions about red white, some believe that red wines will stain their teeth (that's why they invented toothpaste), some are afraid to try new things (wines), some think that they will get headaches from drinking red. I have found that you can introduce most women to red whites by starting off with lighter ones, like a rose, then a Pinot Noir, a Sangioese then move to the Zins, Cabs, Shiraz etc and at that point MOST will be drinking reds 80% of the time. (just don't have them try all these different wines the first night) 🙂 http://www.winelx.com

  • corkscrew

DAA, good luck with the micro-winery business, something I intend to do one day. http://www.winelx.com

  • I've actually tasted ALL THREE side by side (been Torrontes-crazy lately)- I agree, I felt like Crios was in a whole different league as far as Torrontes goes. Urban was impressive until that weird bitter/green thing showed up at the end.

  • SourGrapesFC

Ha! And, as always, the racially homogeneous celebration in the end zone. Love it!

  • wayno daaa wino

    HAPPY 35th ANNIVERSARY MA & PA VAYNERCHUK !!!!!!!! :o)

qotd: Thoughts on #35 ??? Zilch, Zip, Nyet, Nada, Zero…….

  • cellarrat5

Thank you for both your responces. This Is something I have come across in the tasting room and other places before as well. Its almost as if some men dont want to be seen drinking whites, or perhaps they are just not “complex” enough for some men. In my opinion some whites have most reds beat in subtle complexity. Pease keep responding everone! I want MANY opinions, no matter where you stand!

  • SourGrapesFC

that’s just the place I see “POTUS” used most often, with the even funnier acronym “FLOTUS”

  • BelugaJones

QOTD: 35 makes me think of 7×5 haha, I guess my nerd colors are shining through proud now.

  • I never even thought about that. Nice.

  • wayno daaa wino

Yo Allan, Conan's probably “busy” spendin' his 50 Million Lump Sum Retirement
Check he got from NBC……. :o)

  • I've downed my fair share of Chilean Pisco ( not just a liqueur it is a full on liqour ), and GV, as far as I know some some distilleries use Torrontel, but most pisco is made with Muscat primarily, at least up in the Elqui Valley where the Pisco Capel company rules. Best value Torrontes we've had recently was the just-released Cruz de Piedra 'Tiasta' about $11 in Vermont. Had it with crab cakes and it was swell.
We've had the Crios too…aromatic is an understatement…the complexity of the nose can keep one busy for a long time.

  • BelugaJones

I think alot of guys kind of see white wine as being too delicious or fruity. Liking red wines appears cooler because they seem more complex and are more of an acquired taste.

  • CharlieTN

I'll be sure to grab some of that La Yunta next time I'm screwing and hanging out by the pool.

35 is when baseball players can't get an extended contract anymore because everyone thinks they're old men. And other sports too I suppose… I'm just most familiar with baseball. Makes me glad I'm not an athlete. Hopefully I'll still be in my prime at 35…

  • I really enjoy your triple take on figuring out which word to use.

    QOTD: absolutely nothing…srry

  • You're welcome….

Agreed, most whites can do it…. bring the thunder!

  • White can be equally complex, as reds can.

    Nice avatar, dude!

    We go good together,,,

  • I thought it was “only” 30 mill…..?

They might be gone by now?

If Conan comes on, it should be a two-parter!!!! For SURE! wayno daaa wine, you rock.

  • If only he could…I'm not sure how much quality Pisco is to be found in the US, and the only way to really enjoy it at home is to bring home as much as you can in your checked luggage…we managed 14 bottles (including some Aguardiente and Ginda) the last time we came back.
I did hear a rumor that someone was planning on making Pisco here in the U.S., maybe Texas…anyone know the details?

  • rats…that was supposed to be a reply to someone else…bagged by a page refresh.

  • cellarrat5

I agree, I think a lot of it has to do with individual palets as well… ladies out there please chime in anytime!

  • Big congratulations to Mom and Sasha! It takes a lot of trust and hard work to keep things together for so long…my folks must be going on about 43 years now, and I realize what a big deal it is, and how fortunate we are to still have our folks together. For that matter, my grand parents will make it 64 this year! We are at 15 this year…feels like a long time, but just a fraction.

QOTD: I hope we make it to at least 35 years.

  • Have just poured a 10 year old Laphroaig, Nice!

Smells like an ashtray in the sea…. Really ! no kidding

Cheers to all Vayniacs out there…

  • Great show. I love checking out some value wines. Torrontes seems like a nice summer cookout wine and at $10, I won't mind going through some bottles.

QOTD – 35 makes me think of Frank Thomas. He was a beast when I was growing up.

  • GV – your tribute to your parents was very sweet, heartfelt, sincere. 35 years ago (1975) I was traipsing through the vineyards of the Barossa Vly. while on an Aussie work assignment. The pours at the wineries' tasting rooms (no “cellar doors” yet, if I remember right) were generous and delicious (and free!). Actually, that's my general impression, since I yielded to temptation and overindulged, making my recollections kind of vague. At least I was being chauffeured around.
Salud to you and your family,
    Carlo
