  • Yep, GV likes to keep things real!

I just got to say love the value play wines since i'm a ckc. And I'm getting more and more of my friends to jump on the wine band wagon now that I'm making an effort to drink more wine.
Qotd: That's the average amount of money I get every week for donating plasma. Covers my bar expenses which is a lifesaver right now lol.

  • Wow, Tecmo Bowl brings back some memories. Does anyone remember John Elway's Football on Genesis? You could run a QB bootleg with Elway that was unstoppable.

  • BFR1028

Most women i know drink white wine…. but my friend anna is an exception!

  • Katie Marquez

Thought you needed a woman's response. I think it is a common steryotype. But me personally, I tend to prefer whites (or dry rose) in summer, and reds in winter. It also really depends on what I'm eating.

  • Yeppi! Thanks man, I think the standard Laphroaig is one of the best out there….

Although, Ardbeg i probably my favourite. Love the smoke. But not a smoker…. A bit of Nightmare on Wax occasionally…. Chill Out Style!

    Rock on CR5

  • Katie Marquez

What do you tend to do with your Pisco? A friend brought us some back from Chile, but I don't know what to do with it, eat with it, or how to serve it…Do you just drink it straight? Over ice? Wedge of lime?

  • BFR1028

You must be in florida 🙂

  • BFR1028

Lawn darts remind me of weekends at my grandparents house 🙂

CR5, I have no problem stating that I enjoy white wines, usually like to start an evening with a glass of white (Chardonnay and Viognier are my favs) then more on to a red wine. I find many white wines complex and most give good nose, but feel that red wines bring the thunder on a more consistent babis. winelx.com

    Wait till the big 40

  • BFR1028

    Im surprised anybody remembers that

  • Don Simpson

Carlo – couldn't agree more, an excellent tribute to his parents…

  • Don Simpson

“triple take”, that is hilarious. as is your screenmane steakmonster! i love it!

  • Agreed. Food is important, with the wine, makes the experience that more pleasurable. ; )

  • Where have my two good friends gone: castello & bfr1028/DJ keith?

    Vacation, eh…

  • Neil

QOTD: I was 35 when I proposed to my wife.

  • AmyNYC

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Veynerchuk! 35 is how old I was when I met my husband. I hope we have as many years together as your parents.

  • hahahaha no worries Allan! That scene is not fit for human consumption….or even animal consumption.

  • ; )

  • A Q for the Vaynernation: Who would be your all-time favourite guest on
    The Thunder Show?

My personal favourite would be Joe Pesci, just seeing him looking Gary in the eye and saying: “Funny How?”

  • I have to admit that I tend to like it on its own in small amounts in a tumbler, no ice…but my wife thinks I am nuts.
The most traditional use is the Pisco Sour…it is the cocktail drink of choice at most of the parties I've been to in Chile, and is often served as a before-dinner drink. It's basically a permutation on the whiskey sour, and you can find a number of variations online. Egg whites or not, lemons vs limes, no ice, just chilled on it, or with crushed ice inside it. We had one one time that used ginger and honey (instead of simple syrup) that was pretty yummy. The nice part is that you can sweeten or sour the recipe to your own taste. I guarantee that if you share it with some friends like that, you'll be wondering where you can find another bottle before long.
Just watch out for the debates about who invented pisco, the Peruvians or Chileans, and who makes the better pisco sour. They are all good.
    Cheers!

  • cellarrat5

Thats a tough one. My instinct says that I would be my all-time favorite guest, just because it would Fu**ing rule to be on the Thunder Show! But I would have to go with Will Ferrell, seeing those two dynamic personalities would blow my mind. Instant classic!

  • Or maybe Oz Clarke, i've said this before…

    Will is a funny man…!

  • SS_Chris

QOTD: Calvin Hill (GV's a little young for this, but Mott understands)

  • Adrian

QOTD: Wassup Gary Vee!! When I see the #35 I think of Rich Aurilia!!! Brooklyn Native!!! He’s was the Shortstop for the S.F. Giants since the mis 90’s!!! He’s a fan favourite here!! With that, Rich AUrilia and Dave Roberts started their own wine label called Red Stich wine you should check em’ out. Wine maker is Rolando Herrera (Mi Sueño Winery) I would love for you to have Rich and Dave on your show!! http://www.redstitchwine.com
PLease check it out!!! Baseball Players turned wine makers!!!

dig it. going to get some La Yunta, and see I can order only 8. Must be b/c of the review here. awesome 'sode, good job and good shooting. and might I add: you look very healthy this episode GV – keep it up, no one wants to see a sickly Gary V. There's my rhyme to challenge your pour/score.

  • jenna35

I'm all about the value plays as a recently graduated ckc I recently picked up garnacha del fuego. ive heard great things for it's price point. Let me know if you have any recommendations.

  • QOTD: the only thing that comes to mind with the number 35 is the hwy 635 that surrounds Dallas. There is not a day that goes by that I am not stuck in traffic during my 1.5hr commute on 635 thinking about what bottle I am going to open tonight with dinner.

  • teckdeck2008

i don't have any specific wines that come to mind immediately. i usually stay away from cali because they are way over priced. for sparkling i love me my braccheto, for reds malbecs are great value play for me…especially argentinan malbecs. but a lot of this depends on your pallete. another thing that helps me is going to the more unusual locations like washington state, texas, etc.

  • Marko Stefanac

    Wonderfull show! What a ride!
Yesterday I saw my first Thundershow and today Amazon is shipping me a copy of “Crush It” (delivery costs to Croatia equal a price of decent bottle of wine )
Can't wait those 22-31 business days ETA. 🙂
Already a Vayniac… And, BTW, 35 is really weird, I don't have any associations (and I've really tried).

  • I'd have to say my all-time favorite guest on the show would be me. What an awesome experience that would be.

  • matthewjhale

damn gary, you’re gonna have to do better research, or have this guy do it. 🙂

  • MDSmitty2488

Really enjoyed the tribute to your parents, Gary. Family is a very important thing to me too so I like seeing that it still means something to others as well.

QOTD: 35 is the number of different grape varieties I've tasted thus far in my wine journey. I've got a notebook to keep track and every time I find a new one I add it to the list. Granted in order for it to count it has to make up the majority of the blend in the bottle.

Keep 'em coming, Gary. I'm learning something new everyday and knowledge is power.

  • SourGrapesFC

I don’t remember it so much as I stumbled across it in my youth. I just turned 28 years old today!

  • Elvin

    Lurker here!!

Hey Gary, would like to ask your opinions on what do you think of this French wine fraud case??

    http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/World/Story/STIStory_491229.html

  • carlo10

Shaq or Yao Ming…just to see how small gary looks beside them or how small the “big ass glass” looks in their hands

  • carlo10

hmmmmmmmmmmm how did i get the same name as you…great

  • corkscrew

Jenna35, I started a wine site last year to mostly find good drinking wines under $20, have many suggestions even under $10 like the de Fuego was very enjoyable. Let me know what you think. winelx.com

  • carlo10

alan you are a replying MACHINE on here hahaha

  • YES-I-AM-MACHINE!!! ; )

    I dunno, maybe.

Just pumped for the new ep.

  • bobbytiger

QOTD- (Let me get this one out of the way first). I don't think anything, (one way or the other), about the # 35.
Now, the Torrontes. Love the stuff, and am actually drinking a Mendoza Station, 2008 Torrontes as I view the video.
When I saw the three bottles, I just knew that the Crios would win the taste test. I have had several bottles of the wine, including this past week end, and it never has let me down in the three years I have been enjoying it.
However, La Yuta? What is this?
If I can find it, I will be sure to grab a bottle, (or two), as it has to be pretty good stuff to beat the Crios, (in my opinion).
Alta Vista, (about $13.00, and Alamos, $9.00) also make a pretty good Torrontes).
A very nice show to compliment a great wine.

  • What a sincere and heart-felt tribute to your Mom and Dad. You are one of a kind and your parents raised you well. Hear, hear and a hearty cheers to the Vaynerchuk family.

I love the Torrontes and will be sure to procur of the La Yunta and Crios.

QOTD: 35? Hmmm, not alot, to tell you the truth. 1935 was a pretty good year though. Monopoly was invented, Social Security, Alcoholics Anonymous though Hitler started his shenanigans. Oh, oh, my son turns 35 this year. Shhhh, I'm not THAT old! 🙂

Cheers again to your Mom and Dad!

  • Good question though from the responses it's a guest who has YET to be on the show. Seeing Gary and GW would be the hizzy for me. That would be some funny s*** (stuf).

  • It is funny you “thought Old School” and actually counted back from from your Mom and Dad's anniversary to when you were born. How many “kids” do you think would do that or better yet, know how to do that. 🙂

  • I tried Layunta (last year) and liked it. I got a creme brule' on the finish. Lighter wine, great price. Sort of like a pinot grigio. I've go t four bottles in my cellar-will drink in the Spring and Summer.

  • Don Simpson

Shaq drinking wine, that is a funny visual.

  • Anonymous

@cellarrat5: I don’t think so, that perception doesn’t reflect any of the men or women that I know. Most people I know are dedicated red drinkers, a few strong white lovers, and far less give them equal play.

Speaking of little play, Rose is what really gets shat upon, and there are some great dry sparkling rose wines out there!

  • Michael D

    Chase,

If you find it, please let me know what you think of it.

  • P.S. I did not see you at the DC Wine Expo. I was there with my “original” Vayner wristband. 🙂
