Interesting question… I hope GV responds

  • FullOnNelson

    Happy 4th!

SASHA: I have to call you out for the politics comment. I remember an episode back in 2008 (maybe '07) when Bush was still in office. You stated that you DID NOT understand why people were attacking the president. You believed that because we vote as a nation, and as a nation we choose our leader that we should support that leader. Then we get to vote again 4 years later. πŸ™‚ I saw you almost start bagging on the prez…

Love you guys. Keep up the good work. I am drinking a Malbec from Mendoza as I watched your episode and typed this comment.

  • mikefrommn

Great episode. Always good to see the interaction between you and your father.

QOTD: I can't really think of improvement on the show, but for customers, it would be great if you could ship wine to Minnesota. Then I could take advantage of some of the offers.

Thanks again for four years, and I am looking forward to seeing the next four or five years.

bhlana, I have been to the Super Tasting the last four years (pretty sure it's only been held 4 yrs), BEST VALUE hands down of any wine tasting event with fantastic food at The Manor and the quantity and quality of the wine poured. I go to a ton of wine events, WS's WE's and the Boston, D.C. and NY expo's and none compare to the WL's Super Tasting. Glad it's only a 1 hr car servive not a plane ride. πŸ™‚ winelx.com

    Hey Gary,
Congrats on 4 years! I have been really busy lately and haven't had a chance to watch as many episodes as I'd like but I knew this one would be awesome. I'm glad you decided to review the FU, any time I see a rating like that I always want to get a second opinion.
QOTD: I can't really think of anything, you guys are great. I saw someone wrote a comment about possibly offering free shipping and I think that would be cool. Something like buy 6 or a case, not on just any purchase. Other than that, wouldn't change a thing.

  • WineWoman

Sasha knows how to make a party. Forget about the political situation though. WL is a very accomodating business. Expand the gourmet department. πŸ™‚

Tried the 2002 Poesia (Argentina) Cab-Melbed blend. Had with steak. On it's own it tastes like a vat of melted licorice(in a good way)with some Tabasco mixed in. Yum.

  • I just got an Apple TV (actually, I borrowed it from my son who's a 2nd year law student, I bought it for him for Christmas) and I just discovered your show while browsing the Apple TV, so I'm able to watch your show in 1080p HD resolution on a 50″ plasma and I must say your show is fantastic!! You and your dad are great, and you really do know wine. Very impressive. If more people used Apple TV to watch your show on their big screens in 1080p HD, I think you'll soon have more viewers than Oprah!! For the record I think Apple needs to do a better job marketing this thing… it's awesome!! Not too many shows are intellectual yet humble, knowledgeable yet passionate, funny yet sincere, all in one… but from the two episodes I've seen so far, your show has all of these qualities. Keep it up!!

  • ckeene

    love the show
QOTD put a map on the wall for a zoom in opportunity

  • Great food pairing.
QOTD: Keep it going, your being real and the truth will set us all free.
    SMILE

  • Wow, 4 years! Happy Anniversary Wine Library TV (Feb 21st is also my mom's birthday BTW)

I agree that when it comes to wines, it's the style that makes a distinction from the price that you're willing to pay, if you can pair it well that's awesome (I may be biased, I like trying wines with food 99% of the time, and if it's new to me even better), still expensive wines deserve a taste regardless of the “score”.

QOTD: Something you could do is find a way to make international shipments or branch/franchise out of NJ/USA, can you imagine one store in every country (in the very least on four other countries, mine included), that would be grand, also I know very difficult but a think to ponder.

Good show, Sasha's a great guest always. Cheers Gary Vee and Mott!

  • Great show even with the cheapshot against Canada. *joke* Great game though, Miller just STOOD ON HIS HEAD! Great stuff.

  • Happy 4 years GV, always love the Sasha episodes.

QOTD1: Of course not, look at small buisness

QOTD2: How about more get togethers at the store GV?

  • how are you able to watch this on your apple TV, just through YOUTUBE?

  • Greg B.

Big G and Sasha you guys are the best.

QOTD: You already do so much for your customers. Just keep doing what you do.

  • laurieinvt

podcast on iTunes, I would guess. I watch on my little 32″ HD TV, because it doubles as my monitor for my old G4 Power Tower. Lots of ways to get to the same place…

  • audiofan

QOTD: Improve the website, especially the search aspect; when you type in “Champagne” it should list only French champagnes, not Asti, not Cava, not Cook's. I typed in 'French Champagne' and the first wine was a Spanish Cava. I can't order anyway (Okla), but breaking wines down by region, then varietal would be a start.

  • late_start

    Nice show. congrats GV.

Love the $200 wine and $5 sub.

  • Zach

Great episode! Here is to another 4 years!

  • laurieinvt

    In the Ghetto

  • zrm

Happy 4 and here is the your eighth anniversary show being in the Jets owners box.

I love it when he gets you into trouble Gary!
QOD1: Yes the economy is getting better. We are growing modestly and some jobs are returning. Just don't expect the excess of the last 14 years to be possible again.
QOD2: You need to show us poor grad students how to shop for wine. We can buy inexpensive wines and go do tastings but when your in the store its tough to pick a good bottle on your own.
QOD3: Canada, Russia, USA 1,2,3 on the podium

  • zrm

I like the wine critic idea but not branding the GV ratings.

  • zrm

If I can dream its a solid one

  • johnfasc

best episode yet, by far in my opinion, and i've seen them all.

congrats on 4 years. it's been a joy to watch.

  • KnightWKNF

Congrats on 4 glad i was around for the last two. Always something new and interesting talked about and original. I will have to agree wish Sasha on his predictions for Hockey.

QOTD: Improve on the website it is very hard for me to navigate. Looking at the main page it only has your tops list presale and futures list. If it also had a section that started broad like France and worked it down to more specific it would be much more helpful when you have no idea what your interested in buying.

  • esteban lara

congrats! Love the show. Love your dad. And really think you are a true role model.

  • castello

I liked the one you linked up the video for cause I had never heard it before.

  • jenna35

QOTD- possibly make a vayniac wine glass? and a new wristband bc i love them! (i'd buy them, i'm not just asking for freebies.

my own personal QOTD- what do all the vayniac hope to accomplish in the next 4 years? Think what Gary and WL have accomplished in these last 4)
I personally hope to continue teaching, be married to my fiance, and own a house!

  • Chilli

Gents, great show! Thank you for inviting us into your home for such a great episode. You two are brilliant and it is a joy to watch the unstructured format….it's like a thursday night dinner with my dad!
With regards to the FU Shiraz….I've had this wine and it wasn't for me. Australia has a hell of a lot more to offer than these fruit bombs. I think Gary nailed it with his descriptions. For me this is an interesting wine to taste but very hard to drink. I have followed Jay Miller and Parker scores before and I have always been let down with their Down Under reviews….monsters wines, high alcohol, high tannins, too much oak and the ones in my cellar have fallen over, they now taste broad and hot! Thank you for your honest (and not scathing) review of this wine. Keep up the good work.

  • jenna35

    I love QOD 2!

  • winecrazy

    Happy 4th Homey!!!

    Sasha……..gotta love em'

QOTD: When banks are paying less than 2% on a CD…….you know it ain't getting better.

  • That was a great show! I need to get my dad on my beer blog. πŸ™‚

  • Tom

You've got to love the Sasha shows! I wonder how many people tried finding the cinderella.com porn site — of course I wasn't one of them.

TQOTD: Great websites — I don't have any recommendations. Too bad you don't ship to Michigan (yet).

  • scottEJ

Congrats on the 4 yrs, G & S. Thanks for everything. And, watching you two devour that grocery store sub w/a $100.00+ wine is classic!!

QOTD: Some things don't need to be changed. Just please don't ever forget where you came from and who helped you get there.

Look forward to the next 4 years.

  • castello

Where is your beer blog? Love Beeeeeeeeeeer!

  • Congratulations on four years. Your father is a blessing. It was a fun episode. I love that you drink a $125 bottle of wine with a crappy Shop Rite sub. Splendid!

QOTD: I would love to see you review some New Jersey wines. Looking at the spreadsheet, only two wines in all these episodes were reviewed.

  • MarkFitzpatrick

Wow, Sasha on 4th Anniversary. My favorite guest by far. And this episode didn't disappoint.

It's always a cliff hanger waiting for the question of the day….and I love the affection you two have.

  • using the Apple TV I found it in podcasts under “staff favorites” and saw they also had it in HD version.

  • Pat__B

QOTD: Really like Gourmet Library, think it has a ton of potential. Would start introducing some of the people that run that side of the shop to the Vaynernation and please start pushing cross-sells more agressively (wine / cheese / meats, etc.).

Would make perfect sense to have a 'Pairing Club' version of a 'Wine Club' where you can sign up to receive a different wine / cheese pairing each month.

  • leapinggnome

Fantastic four years and still getting better! We adore Sasha. His theory on why Gary started WLTV is hilarious. His confidence in his son is beautiful.

And Gary, stop bugging your dad about eating on the show. You eat more than he does every time!

  • eddy

    HAPPY 4th ANNIVERSARY GV

I?ve been watching WLTV for years and have been entertained and educated every time I tuned in, but when you and your dad are on together it just makes me feel happy, and every thing is good when your happy.

Thank you for four years and hopefully many, many more.

    QOTD
I?m a cash and carry kind of guy so to me the best way to improve Wine Library would be if you opened a store in San Diego Ca.

    Thank Again

  • eli2tyree

Always loved Sasha… knowing Sasha was a hockey fan love him even more… KNowing he blew off the Rangers to become a Devils fan…. Dont love him as much any more….. Sorry but you gotta stay true to your teams! Sasha you blew off Dave and Don MAloney, Anders hedberg Ulf Neilson… Walt tkachuk.. Nick Fotiu , Ron Greshner… Ahhh I still love Sasha! QOTD – picking up wine ordered online in the store can be a pain in the but… Waited 45 minutes on Sunday and 2 bottles were lost/broken and I needed to have them credited, Customer Service is always great though…during the week waits not so bad. that said I have had about 80 pickups in 2 years and I am a very loyal customer! so please keep it up

  • you two are always a hoot!! and congrats on 4 years of wltv!

qotd: simple, more episodes with sasha

  • congrats on 4 years. I love the dynamic between you and your father. I hope that I have that relationship with my son when he gets older. I wouldn't mind trying the FU but don't want to drop that much $$ on it.

    Nice table cloth!

  • MDSmitty2488

Great show, always love it when Sasha makes an appearance. Also I wish that you guys would talk hockey more often. As a Michiganian I'm big big big on hockey. I was in a restaurant full of Canadians watching the hockey game last night and I was glowing with pride for the U.S.A. I like your dad's prediction except that I think that Sweden is going to take the bronze over Canada.

QOTD: The one thing you guys could do to improve Wine Library and Cinderella Wine for me would be to ship to Michigan because I can't buy all this great stuff you guys are putting up! I know it's a government/legal issue but you guys have gotta have some influence right? Maybe not, but that's all I've got.

Again great show, can't wait for the next one as always.

  • vinoreviews

Congrats on 4yrs! Awesome episode Sasha is great he needs his own internet video blog that he speaks his mind.

QOTD, Wine Library does a pretty good job at everything love the selection, prices, free shipping promos. However the one place that could use improvement is the wine search functionality on your website and the ability to refine your results (personally the search functionality/site navigation at KL is much easier).

  • I have been an avid follower for less than a year. Congrats on the milestone. I look forward to following WLTV for the next four years.

QOTD: I really like episode where you feature a less known grape varietals. They get me to want to try something new. Please dedicate a few more episode on this theme. Also, I'd love a couple of shows that feature incredible under $20 values accross a variety of varietals (i.e., the five best california cabs under $20).

  • I'm concerned Sasha did not get anything to eat today, if you did not feed him on the show.

  • jacqueline51

    Hi Gary,
I'm new to you!! Love, love, love the relationship you have with your father!!! Love your passion!! Love that you're affectionate with him and he with you. Oh yeah and I love your wine talk!!
