line of the day – ‘I’m not underestimating them at all – that’s like saying don’t underestimate bald-headed guys’

This episode was passing me by but the line of the day made me laugh out loud and from that point I got into it

    Or watch it in reverse….. ; )

    Could be fun

  • Allan

    Matt!!!! link that up!

  • castello

Just to show us he was rubbin shoulders w big Bob….I think.

  • Allan

Yeah, you're right. He would like to take over Bobby's seat….

  • Thanks a lot! I appreciate the comment. I just want to make a difference in someones life.

  • NY Pete

    so where is the thunder?

  • murso

So much, too much, in fact, to even comment on, and I liked it. I thought the original run of the 3 Thieves was really good sourcing. Then the Cab jug did just about as well. We stacked both, and sold through, quickly, the 15/ or 20 cases they gave us. By the time the Trebbiano tetra hit, (and I recognize/like Trebs as real nice, fresh glass w/ real potential – witness several French ones, called Ugni Blanc, but often, oceans of drek are slogged out to the public), i was still in support, not because it was good juice, but because I liked the package's utility/potential, and much more importantly, I was WAY BEHIND the Joel Gott LABEL wines, not his brand. Trebbiano failed me. It's ok. But 815 Cab, and several of his S.B. bottlings havebeen outstanding. And several years later, the 815 Cabernet is SOLID, well made, and delicious. — oh – that word -as Charles said it, re; the first run of Zin. That described it perfectly. Real drinkable. And even then, I was well past my zin love days.
More tommorrow. looking forward to it, and thanks, guys!

  • Allan

Yeah, they should do a Throwaway section. They should have a sense irony, shouldn't they?
And then they can put #829 on the top!

  • Allan

    And now the weather:

No thunder on the horizon. But sunny skies and boring eps all around!

  • I think they do this on purpose, raz everone up a bit. But I'm cool, Goodnight.

  • Allan

Goodnight, sleep tight. See you tomorrow.

  • Anonymous

    you are most welcome

  • Who was your distributor? None of the 2004 Bandit should have been available anymore. The thieves changed to a new Tetra type in 07 which is more durable for the wine, the fresher the wine the better for Tetras. The new Tetras are much better at the wine tastes great at the price point.

  • Allan

Where did all the Vayniacs go? Bu-huu-hhu-hu!

    I'm still here. Mott. c'mon

  • mattgmann

Just finished cooking and eating the first steak off the grill of the year. Was hoping to come back to part 2; I need to know if I need to eat my words. Oh well…maybe tomorrow. I may disapprove of this type of wine marketing/mass producing, but still find it interesting.

Steak was delicious and opened a priorat to go with it. The weather here is all of the sudden amazing. It was like 20 last week and there was a foot of snow on the ground. Now it's 90% melted and t-shirt weather. Over the winter I dry aged a few roasts and froze the steaks. I broke out a cowboy cut rib steak from a rib roast I aged 2 weeks. Freakin awesome. One steak was more than enough to feed the lady and I coming in at ~30oz.

Since there was no sniffy sniff today, I would like to mention this priorat I'm guzzling. It's called Bodegas Las Cartujas Priorat 2007 and comes in at $15. I know….cheap priorat sounds scarry, but this is the real deal.

  • Just saw where the holdup on Part 2 is they are converting it to 3-D and it may be PPV

  • Allan u went on a rampage, u ok?

  • Allan

The best Priorat i've ever had is Clos Mogador. That's serious stuff! Thick like blood!

Dry aged steak, the way to rule……

  • mattgmann

hey gv…lots of controversy about yesterdays show. Good entertainment regardless. Lookin forward to part 2.

  • mattgmann

I loves me a priorat, but they're generally price prohibitive for me. The Las Cartujas isn't an earth shatterer, but still a serious wine for the $

  • Allan

I'm what you would call, active!

Was just sayin' goodnite to the swede AndersN….

I'm great, thnx for ur concern. New show anytime soon, or has Mott fell asleep??? ; )

  • Allan

Yeah, you're probably right. Mogador isn't cheap, by any means… Las Cartujas,,,, hmmmm,,,,,, might check it out, if i can find it!

God bless you and your steaks, and horn, and………

  • Mott

I'm here and I'm certainly not asleep.

  • Allan

Oh my god, the Mottster is back!!! Cool!

    Well i will admit…. i'm fallin' asleep, unless…… ; ) well ya know.

  • themosk

Any mention of grilling a fat juicy ribeye gets props from me! I just grilled up a few fillet mignons with peppercorn sauce 2 days ago (its what the girl likes, but give me a bone-in cowboy steak any day) and had it with a '07 Maipe Malbec at 9 bux, was great! I really enjoyed it. I will buy again, for certain…

  • CharlieTN

Allan isn't the only one here…

  • CharlieTN

Maipe malbec is definitely a good QPR wine, especially with steak. Stupid bottle, but good wine.

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    That's What i wanna know……..

  • Allan

    zZzZzZzZz….. Uh, i'm up again. Ready……
    ……
    ….
    ……
    zZzZzZzZz……. Damn it… i did it again….. ; )

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    Yeah, yeah, Yeeeaaaaaaaah…….. :o)

  • CharlieTN

Interesting that Mott would comment but not post the ep or an explanation… maybe we're not gettin it today? Or maybe the WL computers use 56K modems and the videos take an hour to upload.

  • Most likely Mott is busy doing a hundred different things

  • Mott

Oh the conspiracy of it all!

  • CharlieTN

Nah, that would be too rational. It's definitely a conspiracy.

  • DAveAll

    last!
    (oh, rats!)

  • johnboston

What's going on here. I'd like to see part II soon.

  • One of the best most interesting shows I have ever seen and can't wait for the conclussion!
Please do more of these with cool interesting people in the business like these!

  • Anonymous

    It’s fun!!!

  • Anonymous

    OOOH!! ur just so sweet!

  • Anonymous

    Thanks!!

  • Anonymous

    Thanks!!

  • Mike D

Part II is up! Just sent in for my poster!

  • ExViTermini

Funny how I mentioned my old love for malbec and I hope the same thing doesn't happen to vouvray as it has to malbec and here is malbec on WLTV. Great discussion and I can't wait to see part-2 and the rest of the talk and what this wine has to show.

  • robrx

A guest who called Gary on his talking over them. Awesome! You go Charles!! Gary, talk on the shows with no guests. Shut up when you have interesting, knowledgeable guests. Yes, we know you get excited…

  • GV, your a rambling man.

  • maxinvegas

I'm not going to mention my distributor, there are too few where I am to mention. My guess is that it was sitting around a warehouse for a while. I'm curious to try a different vintage in an appropriate container.

  • Really? Is malbec that hot???? The next best thing?
It's my least favorite red wine.

  • maxinvegas

That Las Cartujas drinks very well, its approachable and fun to drink, especially with food. It's not a 90 point wine, but a 90 Priorat for $15 is unheard of.

  • I'm someone who's considering starting a small vineyard in the near future and really enjoyed your rant on the business and future of wine. Thanks Gary!

  • SeanieBoy

    Top 300! Sweeeeeet.
